I've lived here for over 30 years. The reason downtown has nothing going on is, for most people, the only reason to go downtown is to WORK. Sometimes a symphony, sometimes a sports event, but mostly, people stay on their own side of town. Merrill Road is fine, so is Rogero, where you were. Also, driving where you were on McCormick Road is nice, the neighborhoods are mostly quiet. People are friendly, mind their own business, and take care of their home and city. An excellent bar-b-que restaurant is Sonny's, on Atlantic, near the Home Depot, really good. If you want to see some wealthy neighborhoods, go to Mandarin and also to Ortega Forest. The city is huge. Nice for families and retired, and middle income families. I wish they would have more craft shows, like up north, and more family-oriented activities. Now,I'm not sure what you mean by the term "hood". Please explain. Romans 10:8-13; John 3:16-21

I can't understand how Jacksonville being the biggest "land wise" city is not more developed and cleaned up. It is a huge city that feels like a small town. I'm not sure who is slowing down the progress of the city but people need to push their elected officials to do more....

I didn't see it in the skyline shot. I'm an alumni of Jacksonville job corp center before it was demolished and Downtown Jacksonville was what I saw everyday while there
You had it right...sometimes people lose their objectivity about places. Some resent the changes in the city brought to the older suburbs like Arlington as the demographics change...There has been a lot of white flight to neighboring counties and newer neighborhoods...this can create challenges as integration does not always go smoothly here. I live in San Marco, an old part of town..rapidly gentrifying. We were pioneers in urban living. People thought we were nuts to plan a life in a neighborhood like this...older, integrated, urban....Now, its the most desirable area of the city aside from the beach. Love it here.
I bet that Titusville neighborhood IS bad, especially given the response you got!!! Titusville is heavily white though and some are just outraged at being called a hood if it's not a heavily black or Latino area. Such great insight on being open to different points of view!
When you went to the Rogero corner store across the street thereâs cottons bbq best mom and pop place to eat . I live in that neighborhood . Nothing like it . Good ol arlington
Right where your walking around downtown near the Andrew Jackson statue was the famous mall called The Landing. It was there for like 40 years and it was torn down! It's where that video game tournament shooting took place. They plan on building a mixed use property. You need to watch the video on Katt Williams and Jax hoods. You didn't explore the nice areas that are large and go forever.
Yep. I am viewing this on April 29, 2021 and ALL the BLM and city violence and hearing HOOD mentioned 10+ times I think we will stay in pretty safe Arizona. We are in Gilbert, AZ fastest growing city in the country 10 years ago, probably still in the top 10 and we are 20 miles from Scottsdale. Very safe place and with all the hate out there I think I will stay out of the hood.
Try J's Lemon Pepper. Its a hood spot in Jax on McDuff and West Beaver. Sadly you would think that a coastal city like Jax would have great seafood, however it doesn't. I'm a Brooklyn NYC native living in Jax 3 years its ok but I don't like the food and fashion is non existent!

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS Exactly, you don't want to get demonetized. Google is extremely conservative regarding content. BTW, fantastic job on going West to East. Crime is much higher in the Northwest Quadrant of the city around Moncreif & Washington Hts.
@@running4fun74 it can range from 25 minutes to 1 hr depending on which part of Spring Hill and Tampa. Spring Hill is very large East to West and Tampa is just huge in any direction. The closest part of Spring Hill to Tampa is the southeastern part near County Line/Spring Hill Drive and the Veterans Expressway. The Veterans Expressway is a toll road that takes you into the west side of Tampa near the Tampa Airport. 34609 occupies that area so that would be a good zip code to search.
Palm beach more urban, more expensive. Both cities downright dangerous. The JAX is more southern, WPB is more latin and tropical. WEST palm we did "palm Beach hoods" video there. its a MESS of crime and thuggery. just like JAX. I think i did a boyton video.

Jose, I'm curious. When you say some place is a hood or has a lot of hoods, how do you define a hood? Seems like it's a term used differently by different people.
@@Kanuboddu ABSOLUTELY NOT. Plenty of Latino and white areas are titled as HOOD on my videos. And just to PROVE you WRONG... MARION OAKS + CAMDEN COUNTY videos are predominantly African American and I did NOT tittle those videos as HOOD instead they got the tittle RESIDENTIAL AREA. If you are gonna make comments like that about me don't even watch my videos because by now you should know the type of person I am. For MOST people in FLORIDA , too many places the word HOOD refers to black areas however that's NOT the way I use that term.
You are correct. This term is used differently by people. as regards this channel, It is a simplified word for Neighborhood. However, it is an INFORMAL form of that word. Example, a gated community is a very well laid out, planned community the term HOOD would not apply as its planned, orderly and thus a very FORMAL setting for a community. An urban area, where each house is individual, or of more humble roots, perhaps less FORMAL than a gated community would thus be titled RESIDENTIAL AREA on my videos. So, we use three term to define areas, WEALTHY, RESIDENTIAL and HOOD. I consider if 20% or more of the population is below the poverty line, it is more or less NOT residential but leaning towards hood. RACE has absolutely no bearing, and INCOME only superficially. For example, some parts of South Beach are wealthy, to rich.. yet ave enough of a URBAN vibe to be somewhat HOOD. Basically any collection of people within an informal setting can be a hood. CRIME is NOT related to the use of this term for my understand although sadly for too many people it is. Because not all poor or HOOD areas have high crime although too many people are too IGNORANT to recognize this. This is a great subject for a video. For most people of my age and generation its just a place that has more LIFE, activity, environment than the average. it's for an informal setting. You cant blast music at 3am in a residential setting.. but you can in a HOOD.. you can have chickens in a residential setting.. but you can in a hood.. you cant park a car on your grass in a residential area.. but you can in a hood. And true, it varies form person to person but tha'ts my understanding.
Nag R yeah I donât like that people associate black neighborhoods as âhoodâ. But either way Iâve never lived in a black neighborhood or a hood so ...
Jacksonvilleâs downtown is our cityâs sore spot. This is not the best route to highlight our city. We are also more than just a WAWA gas station. The biggest complaint from northerners is that our water taste terrible and it does. He was actually on what we call the Southside when he crossed the Mathews bridge. He was in East Arlington/Arlington. Geographically it is the east side. What we actually refer to as the East side which is in the north end of the Westside is a place u donât want to visit as a tourist.
The Landing was a failure for several reasons, one, the shops were low class, and the parking was non-existent, or so far away it was dangerous to walk from your car to the Landing. Doomed to fail.

what are the safest neighborhoods in Jacksonville? I might be moving here due to work and I'm from Vegas I'm wanting to live somewhere like Summerlin in Vegas safe lots of stores like whole foods, Trader joes that type of area thanks you for all the help beforehand!
the URBAN CORE is dangerous. you wanna be in St Johns County, or Yulee, anything along the coast east of Jacksonville. the west side is pretty bad.. and anything within the city grid patterns. go towards the coast, east of the downtown area towards the coast.
Not sure if you have moved yet but the very top of the Northside not far from Main St. and 295 there's neighborhood called San Mateo and it's tucked off by itself. It's a really good affordable neighborhood and very low crime but only in that area, 10 minutes down the road people are getting shot lol.
@@sherribell4032 You think so lol. People get robbed, and shot quite often at there, in fact I used to spend every weekend there in the early 2000s at Buckets and a few other places and there was alot going on then so I can only imagine now. We WERE going to California a lot but with this exaggerated virus we have not been out of Arizona in over a year as I will not enter California's insanity. I will give Arizona this, especially Gilbert, AZ. Gilbert is very kid friendly and you can research Arizona, specifically Scottsdale, Chandler, and Gilbert, very safe and kid friendly. So, I was thinking to get back to beach area and many Philly and NJ people go to Florida in winter, and Jacksonville cut the LONG LONG drive from mid and lower Florida to be less of a long Florida drive. BUT, I think we will stay in Arizona. BUT, it is HOT HOT HOT here. Last year we had records of days above 110 degrees. Low humidity but VERY toasty.
I'm a fairly new subscriber, this has quickly become one of my favorite channels! I want to know how many miles you've racked up on your truck so far? (not actually sure if it's a car or truck). Thanks for the vids.đđđ
Great way to end the video!!! Failure is something you have to except & be ok with!

Moving to Jacksonville soon, cant wait. Iv heard its about who u know. House shopping i find it a bit pricey but visiting is awsome n lots food & shopping. Once i saw an older small car in a medium area with a window air conditioner in his car window & lots traffic.
Well congrats my friend. I welcome you here even if your not here yet. I have lived here my whole life and been to many other cities and would not change living here in Jacksonville for nothing. Love it here!!!!!
Jacksonville reminds me of Newark nj biggest cities in their states that gets no love because of the more popular cities Miami and Jersey city.
Miami Dade County has more people than Duval
No way Jacksonville nothing like Miami are big and pretty that no-no for Jacksonville fla are to country and small it is what is you cannot make Jackson not a city it the country
đđșđđșđșđđșđđșđđșđjackonville ooooooooo
and more crime too.. not sure why they be thinking the worst cuz it aint. Miami and Miami gardens and Opa LOCKA wayy more serious streets 100

I can't understand how Jacksonville being the biggest "land wise" city is not more developed and cleaned up. It is a huge city that feels like a small town. I'm not sure who is slowing down the progress of the city but people need to push their elected officials to do more....
its the south.. thats how southern cities are
Those are The Southern BAPTIST, they own most of the properties and controls what businesses move Dtwn. When I lived off University Ave. Beach Blvd etc. I experienced that most of the eatery's, malls, were over the East Bridges and South of Dtwn JAX SON VILLEđđđżđđżââïž
The politicians are!! They are so focused on downtown that the rest of the city can fall apart and they don't care
@@sherribell4032 I say it's time for some new people to be in charge. Jacksonville could be the best city in Florida!
Thanks for filming this video on CZcams! I haven't been to Jacksonville since the nineties and downtown looks almost the same as it did then . Did they demolish St. Johns tower? I didn't see it in the skyline shot. I'm an alumni of Jacksonville job corp center before it was demolished and Downtown Jacksonville was what I saw everyday while there
I live in Jax. Nice video sir!
Cool, thanks! cant wait to go back.
NW side is rather scary. I lived 6 miles from ocean in Jax on east side. I had a great experience while living there
jacksonville has some serious hoods all over. but good nature and good food
Merrill road is very laid back it's chill old folks in that area.
Somewhat quiet
I bet that Titusville neighborhood IS bad, especially given the response you got!!! Titusville is heavily white though and some are just outraged at being called a hood if it's not a heavily black or Latino area. Such great insight on being open to different points of view!
When I lived in J-Ville, I spent the majority of my time in The Hood
I miss going to Durkeeville, Browood rd, and Kings rd

I use to live in Jacksonville. Good Drs good medical care. Beaches are beautiful. But few places are very dangerous. Public transportation is good.
crime is why we did not do JAX
I lik your video and your opinion, thanks!
Love it keep safe
I lived near Ortega back in '96-'98, went to Ortega Elementary. City seems likes its been more developed since then.
its growing but crime is still a concern
Alot and lots. Except The Baptist Owned Dtwn.Area
When you went to the Rogero corner store across the street thereâs cottons bbq best mom and pop place to eat . I live in that neighborhood . Nothing like it . Good ol arlington
I love that BBQ place!!
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS Next time go to Smoke in the City on university across from JU instead. Food is 10x better there than cottens
Whenever someone reviews JAX, they should do the outskirts like Clay country for people to live also.
enjoy your vlogs.wilmington,nc has a few
Right where your walking around downtown near the Andrew Jackson statue was the famous mall called The Landing. It was there for like 40 years and it was torn down! It's where that video game tournament shooting took place. They plan on building a mixed use property. You need to watch the video on Katt Williams and Jax hoods. You didn't explore the nice areas that are large and go forever.
Once you past Townsend in arlington youâre good
Palm coast and St Augustine awesome area . And low housing here .
I would love to see a video on Bonifay and the little country panhandle counties!
The amount of times âhoodâ is mentioned in this video is too damn high!
He was basically taking a tour he wasnât going to any of the nice areas but yeah Jacksonville is full of hoods

I want some seafood in Jacksonville FL! My favorite
@@sparklingsprinkles3027 Thanks I will !
I grew up off seaboard avenue and timuquana JUST before it turns into 103rd street. it's always been a grimier part of town but it has always felt warm to me. and as a teenager it was fun at night. just don't act like a stranger lol
Jacksonville downtown been a ghosted
Germany's love affair with Florida started with Miami Vice.Since then there have been loads of German TV shows filmed in Florida that are very popular here. It's my favourite place in the world. Like I mentioned before these videos are my morning vacation. lol.
Thank you for explaining this. So many Germans on here, they want to see GANGSTERS and well frankly I don't think my most hardcore associates want to portray that for youtube LOL
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS Exactly, you don't want to get demonetized. Google is extremely conservative regarding content.
BTW, fantastic job on going West to East. Crime is much higher in the Northwest Quadrant of the city around Moncreif & Washington Hts.
I used to do the Spring Hill to Tampa commute đ and had to pay $7 in tolls too everyday
What's that drive time? We're considering a Florida move and Spring Hill is on our list of possibilities.
Weâre torn between west palm and Jacksonville? I canât find any videos on west palm tho.
Palm beach more urban, more expensive. Both cities downright dangerous. The JAX is more southern, WPB is more latin and tropical. WEST palm we did "palm Beach hoods" video there. its a MESS of crime and thuggery. just like JAX. I think i did a boyton video.
That is the best BBQ in Arlington!
I haven't been on this channel in a while, hi Katie!
I have a family in Jacksonville and I stayed by the beach in Jax Beach
Cottons yummm!!!!
I deal with residents a lot with my work and youâre right. Itâs very diverse
Its pronounced "Pon-day-vee dra " beach đ ...its very nice over there ..we consider that the rich side ..lots of mansions over that way
Sawgrass is money.
Which area would you recommend Pensacola or Jacksonville
probably Pensacola is safer.
Good Evening Great Man just heads up Cotton's BBQ is on the south side known as Southeast I've been here 40yrs I'm going Too look at some more of The video now
LOVE THAT PLACE!! any other amazing BBQ in the duval?
Orange park is nice too
The home of the LYNYRD SKYNYRD band
Even if I make the move next Summer I would have to find a motel or Extended Stay hotel until I have enough for an apartment which is important
Thinking of moving to Jacksonville soon are there any reccomended areas thatâs family oriented ?
And true, it varies form person to person but tha'ts my understanding.
on the recent BONITA video I explain this question a little bit
Nag R yeah I donât like that people associate black neighborhoods as âhoodâ. But either way Iâve never lived in a black neighborhood or a hood so ...
My friend and I used to refer to his house as the "hood" when he sold, he got 7.3 mil for it! market price for his Miami Beach area.
JAX has everything - ghetto to Gold Coast Mansions; it's a very diverse city. Nocatee (knock-a-tee) .
Beautiful city next video make going in hood to church
Jacksonvilleâs downtown is our cityâs sore spot. This is not the best route to highlight our city. We are also more than just a WAWA gas station. The biggest complaint from northerners is that our water taste terrible and it does. He was actually on what we call the Southside when he crossed the Mathews bridge. He was in East Arlington/Arlington. Geographically it is the east side. What we actually refer to as the East side which is in the north end of the Westside is a place u donât want to visit as a tourist.
A-town baby!!! Merrill Rd born and raised!! Albertson's, Ryan steakhouse, gate, lil' champ, walts auto parts, Trollie ln, cesery
When are you going to the south side Beach Boulevard and the Baymeadows area and don't forget to stop over by Emerson at the Jenkins BBQ House

Covid
The Landing was a failure for several reasons, one, the shops were low class, and the parking was non-existent, or so far away it was dangerous to walk from your car to the Landing. Doomed to fail.
Jax looks sick! Beliefs are beliefs at the end of the day they donât exist we make them exist by our choices

I remember a section of neighborhoods near regency mall that was wild but I can't remember the names...
I used to call that area your in the east side too! It's actually considered "the beaches area" and the east side is actually considered down near the Jaguars Stadium. You went right past the St John's Ferry that's a cool experience for like $5.
what are the safest neighborhoods in Jacksonville? I might be moving here due to work and I'm from Vegas I'm wanting to live somewhere like Summerlin in Vegas safe lots of stores like whole foods, Trader joes that type of area thanks you for all the help beforehand!
the URBAN CORE is dangerous. you wanna be in St Johns County, or Yulee, anything along the coast east of Jacksonville. the west side is pretty bad.. and anything within the city grid patterns. go towards the coast, east of the downtown area towards the coast.
Mandarin, Fleming Island, The Beaches, Collins Road, St. Johns County, and the Airport area
Not sure if you have moved yet but the very top of the Northside not far from Main St. and 295 there's neighborhood called San Mateo and it's tucked off by itself. It's a really good affordable neighborhood and very low crime but only in that area, 10 minutes down the road people are getting shot lol.
Atlantic Beach is good!!
@@sherribell4032 You think so lol. People get robbed, and shot quite often at there, in fact I used to spend every weekend there in the early 2000s at Buckets and a few other places and there was alot going on then so I can only imagine now. In fact you can pull up a huge riot out there on youtube that happened a few years ago. I mean it's nothing like the Northside where I'm from but for a beach it's far from an ideal tourist place.
