We too believe that cardinals are visitors from Heaven. My son will soon be celebrating his 1 year anniversary, which brought me a beautiful bonus daughter and a sweet little 6 year old granddaughter. My granddaughter lost her father when she was barely 3 and she calls cardinals “Daddy Birds”, now we all do too. Send love from Tennessee ❤

I belive that about cardinals too. My mom passed away in 2013 and it's just a sweet reminder of her. My 7 year old son calls them red rovers lol.

So, we have kids, and tons of glass ornaments. It took some work, but our kids know not to touch the tree. Love the cardinals, and I feel the sane way. I may need those! Excited for haul #2! I have not started yet, but I think I have everything except a small sign and a spoon rest. And maybe a window decoration I saw at Michael's. I'll start maybe next weekend.
I did grow up with glass ornaments on my trees... some broke, most did not. I do think its about teaching children how to respect things. however, I'm not a parent yet so we'll see how it goes! Glad to know it can be done though!
@@harvestandholly indeed! Teaching respect is key, and kind of hard, depending on how willful your child is. But mine were pretty easy. My older one (6) likes to help decorate. I'm the one that usually breaks something! He's pretty careful.

I love the Norfolk pine stems, banner and snowmen smokers. My mom had a little cabin smoker for incense where the smoke comes out the chimney. I grew up in the north where Norfolk pines are in the woods as undergrowth with the ferns. I love them because they bring back memories of childhood. It is still fall decorated at my place.
How cool your mom had a smoker - I've yet to meet anyone else who also had them. Are the norfolks more of a tropical plant? I thought I read that somewhere. They are beautiful none the less!
@@harvestandholly I looked it up and thought it was like a Norfolk pine, it is not. Now I need to ask my family what the plant was or look on the DNR website. My sister used to make Christmas wreaths up north so I will have to ask her. Thank you.
@@stephanied5460 Ive definitely seen little saplings resembling the norfolk pines here in the woods of NW Ohio. Good to know they can be made into a wreath, I may try that this year!

@@harvestandholly My mother was right on that. It is a clubmoss known as princess pine. If you look it up on Amazon it is sold as Live Tree Clubmoss Princess Pine. My mother said she made a Christmas wreath with it. This was long ago. I am not sure if it is endangered now, but I remember it on the forest floor as a kid. I have adult kids so it was a really long time ago. Now our chat is on fire with memories this topic sparked, so thanks again.

I love a beautiful decorated tree and home but for me it's more about the holiday spirit and feeling I get. The cardinals story was very touching. I suffered a huge loss this Summer and I'd like to incorporate 1x purple ornament, her favorite color, in her memory. That x ornament will be used for years to come to keep her spirit near dyring the holidays. I will begin to decorate after Thanksgiving in keeping with our tradition. My tree will go up by Dec 13th or so. I buy a real tree. Thanks for sharing your feedback on the bells. I was tempted but I'm sure I can fund a dupe elsewhere 🌲🤍🕯🔔

I store my glass ornaments in tubs with no protection and they’re fine stacked up in my basement
Thats good to know! I get very protective of my ornaments because a lot of them are gifts or vintage. Maybe I can do that with my basic bulbs though :)

Great finds! I got the bells about that size from Amazon. The 2 smaller ones I have put on a wreath that I made and the large one I took the twine off and added a dark red velvet bow. I love the look!! I have some items from my parents’ home as well and I love to put them out for Christmas. They might look dorky to someone else, but to me they say “home”. I am a true believer in cardinals and have a few that visit me from time to time. It always makes me smile!😊

That’s a nice haul! I’m excited to see haul videos- they are so inspiring. I’ve been stalking Joann’s for the wooden mushrooms from last year because I missed out on them. They are back in stock and I’ve ordered a set! Yay! I don’t decorate for Christmas until the week of thanksgiving but I always enjoy the planning.

I will be starting my Christmas decorating this week as well. We got a new pet, a little cat and she loves to eat or steal and knock over all my Halloween and fall decorations so I have to decorat a little different this year lol so it should be interesting for sure. Wish i had a kirkland near me i had to resort to paying 18 a stem i ordered on amazon i only got 3 stems maybe next year ill get more i was able to get the garland through kirklands though i got 2
