I barely looked at the lyrics I've had the lyrics for this song memorized since I was 7. I grew up watching the 1997 Fox animated Anastasia, it's always been one of my favorite, though I used to get so scared when in the dark night came on. I'm probably gonna use this as a song for the audition for the high school play my school is doing, we are doing Matilda.

@@CL-je6sv I ended up doing a different song but regretted it because my nerves got to me so I could remember the pitch and barely remembered the words for one of the songs I did(Eagle when she flies), the other song I did, Quiet, turned out half decently but was still far from my best because of nerves. For the monologue I did Queen Lucy from Charlie Brown, by the time I did the monologue my nerves calmed enough that I think I did fairly well. Overall never got to know if I would've gotten a role since the musical was canceled because covid measures would prevent enough people from coming that the school would lose a lot of money. Though I still have another couple years of high school so I might be able to try out the for the next musical

@@CL-je6sv As long as covid goes away or calms down then there's a good chance that I will, weither I'm on stage or in the pit band (Bb bass clarinet and Bb clarinet), probably gonna sign up for both again next time the school does a musical

This song is perfect for an Alto range, I'm so happy I found this version, I'm using it for my audition for my schools talent show!
@@EmiSoler this song is actually perfect for an alto voice! the typical vocal range of an alto singer is G3-D5 and anya's range in this song is B3-C#5, so while it is towards the upper end, singing it down the octave is completely unnecessary. if you're going to discourage someone from using a song they like, at least fact check yourself before doing so :).

@@valerieregina444 I don’t think she was discouraging anyone from singing this song. I think she was happy to find something in her range which is something my young artists struggle to find at times (which is completely ok by singing is not easy!)

This song has carried me through the worst of times... I often find myself humming this when I feel anxious, or when I couldn't do anything else. I've heard songs that are sadder, but none struck me as intense as this. I hope I never have to hum this unknowingly again, but something about this tells me it will stick around.
