I saw Pela for the first time in February 2016 and fell in love at first sight. She was eight (we think) and had spent half her life on the street and the other half in a fenced field with some other rescue dogs. I fostered her and on the first day I knew she was staying forever. Since I wrote the text for the video she is better, I'd say that by now she is at her 90-95%.

My dog had a stroke , and I remember the veterinarian said dogs don’t have strokes…… well I’m a retired nurse, it’s undeniable . I wish you so much love and comfort Valia, I know pup is in wonderful hands. ❤️

I needed this today, I lost my 16 1/2 yr old baby girl one year today and I know exactly about 2 weeks before she was perfect that day she couldn't move or anything. I feel happy you get to have her a while longer..❤
Valia, the Great Communicator in words and video. Your words move mountains, capture emotions so purely, describe aspects of life that we all know and experience with such clarity, and present your love for your beloved friend, a dog that has suffered a stroke and is on the road to recovery - not completely but enough to give you hope of a resurrection of the life before and you do it such a way that it moves us all. Thank you. Your humanity sings like a massive choir in a cathedral with a hundred voices singing in harmony that touches the core of everyone who listens. Thank you.

This touched deep, Valia. Rex, my family's Belgian Sheepdog cross, had a "stroke" (there is overlap amongst the symptoms of strokes and vestibular disease in dogs, even inner ear infections, so unless there's imaging you can't be 100% sure according to my vet) aged 13 at the time, in June 2020. He was my lockdown night time walk companion in deserted streets too, but we had to stop that for a while. 10 days after the incident, he was 85% recovered and almost completely fine by the time a month went by. He went on to start chasing the cats again and it was the first time I was happy to see him doing that, as it meant to me that he was himself again. He lived another 15 months after that, eventually developing heart failure, but no other signs of neurological issues during that time. I hope she keeps recovering well and you get as much precious time with her as possible!
Thank you. I keep thinking about what if this keeps happening again and again. It's so confusing for the dogs, and they feel so vulnerable. Vestibular disease is what she has actually. She had a stroke one night, recovered in two hours, fje next day she was fine, and 24 hours later she had another episode, a bit different than the first, and that was vestibular disease. Don't know exactly how the two are linked but all those details were unnecessary for the video I thought.

I've never had dogs, only cats... so far it's been like this, tomorrow who knows! cats are magnificent, magical and mysterious beings and I love them so much but I miss the experience of the dog, of that being who shares your life 100% and then has such a wise and good look. I have "let go" of my cats several times and it is always difficult, when you love it is like that. Sweet Valia a hug from Italy

I adore every one of your videos, valia. They always make me feel closer to my dogs and appreciate different sides of them i never knew existed before. Caring for dogs in different ways has always felt like its little space and you complete it by telling its story. I know one day i may go through the same feelings and difficulties as you right now. But all I can say is that my heart goes out to you and your lovely companions, she'll never be lonely because she has you, caring and loving her all the same forever ❤

I was afraid of this video. It´s actually not that bad, only...pretty bad, but no total catastrophy. Which is positive, after all.
She will recover, be less wobbly, will go on living a good life again. And one day in the future, you will lose her forever. But not yet.

I'm there with you Valia. 2 of my cats are ill right now. One - I already know what is to come sooner or later. The other, the unknown is one step ahead of all of us - the uncertainty is sometimes unbareable. Each moment with them is a gift. Love them deeply. Even if it's painful, it's worth the lasting memories imprinting on our heart and souls.

Truly a beautifully written, photographed, and expressed essay on the love story between a human and a dog. I know the depth of that love and how it transcends anything of this world. Thank you again for a heart warming video. This looks for me like a VESTIBULAR stroke. Head tilt, bad balance, if its acute rapid eye movement. I would not know, if we had not seen this 4 times with our dogs by now. Our Hanka for example, a german shepherd from Romania, had this three times in two years an age about 12 years first time. She recovered from it very well in a couple of months every time. I remember the first time was very frightening for us, we thought we would lose her. But our vet told us, that this usually is not deadly for dogs an they recover. Our Hanka left us with 14 1/2 years, when she could not walk any more with her bad back, but the vestibular was not the reason. She had a happy time and got a lot of love... I hope Pela will recover fast and you will have many happy moments together. ;-)
Yes that's what she had. She had a stroke one night, recovered in a couple of hours and the next day she had a vestibular stroke that left her with a head tilt

Il a été mon fidèle compagnon pendant quinze ans 😉 Presque inséparables, il m’accompagnait parfois à mon travail, dès que c’était possible!! Bien assis et attaché dans son siège d’auto, il adorait les balades en voiture. . . .
Sa dernière année de vie n’a pas été facile! Des visites chez le vétérinaire, des médicaments à prendre. Jamais, il ne s’est plaint, jamais!!

Some how you weave everyday words and events into a deeply touching tale. For which we are all blessed. I pray you have many many more days with her. They never live long enough. I lost my once in a lifetime girl 3 .5 years ago now. Though i had her 12 years, it went like a week. I couldnt bear to put her down, but i had to she was so very sick. I am crying now writing about her. She was everything. Even all the cats and dogs lived ger. Children loved her. Everyone loved her.i was afraid the grief woukd consume me, i had that fear before she passed. But i survived.
