  • The RB5009UG+S+IN is one of MikroTik's newest and most interesting Ethernet router to date. Using the advanced ARM 64bit CPU architecture together with a port arrangement comprised of 1G Ethernet ports, a 2.5G Ethernet port, and a 10G SFP+ port, this router is a versatile hardware that can fit various types of network designs and connectivity solutions. Moreover, its size and unique mounting options mean you no longer have to play server room Tetris!

    Who's thought was the best option is that PoE-IN and the only one 2.5G port be the same? usually ISP's devices don't have PoE out, especially on 2.5G output ports..
    BTW.. every other features are great, thanks Mikrotik crew :)

      Dear de228,
      Many thanks for your feedback. It helps us improve our content quality and provide our customers & subscribers with better services.
      We agree that sometimes, router features may interfere with one another as you pointed out. Still, the PoE feature on Ether1 of the RB5009UG+S+IN is still a suitable powering option when we do not plan to utilize the 2.5G speed of that interface. In such scenarios, we can benefit from reliable powering together with the other features discussed in this video.

      Simple solution: Poe Injector.

    Having trouble getting good throughput on this unit, got 1.5 gigabit internet but can only get around 700 on it. I might need to fiddle more, I'm brand new to Mikrotik

    I am starting to learn Mikrotik. My long term choice is RB5009 and RB4011. Which one do you think is better?

    • @MikroTikCanada
      @MikroTikCanada  Před rokem +1

      It seems that the rb4011 is going to discontinue soon. It's the same price as the rb5009 and half the performance. I believe the rb5009 is a better option.

    would I be able to replace my ISP fibre optic modem with this router?

    • @MikroTikCanada
      @MikroTikCanada  Před 2 lety +1

      Dear UNgineering,
      Many thanks for watching our video and posting your question here.
      It depends. If the GPON interface that comes with your ISP modem is removable, you could be able to put it in and set up the same configuration advised by your ISP and replace the modem with RB5009.

    I'm looking for a home lab router and switch. I need at a minimum 12 GbE switch ports. How would I go about this with the RB5009 and stay within 1U?

    • @MikroTikCanada
      @MikroTikCanada  Před 2 lety +1

      Dear kb1qzh, many thanks for posting your question.
      The RB5009 is too much for a home lab. Instead, we recommend getting the hEX and a CRS326 to experience the combined MikroTik routing and switching performance.

      RB5009UG+S+IN with CRS328-24P-4S+ (PoE+)
      Or
      RB5009UG+S+IN with CRS326-24G-2S+ (no PoE+)
      Or
      CCR2004-16G-2S+PC (no USB, no PoE+)
      This is the most cost-effective as it comes with a built-in powerful 16x1GbE switch. This version is rackmount but Passive Cooled and CPU throttled. Same ports configuration but unthrottled CPU with rackmount and active cooling version CCR2004-16G-2S+.

    Does the router support failover WAN?

    • @MikroTikCanada
      @MikroTikCanada  Před 2 lety +1

      Dear Yeps, thank you for your comment on this video. Much appreciated!
      WAN Failover is a capability of MikroTik's RouterOS, which means all MikroTik routers - which indeed work with RouterOS - come with enough Ethernet ports and resources to handle the traffic that you expect to pass through the router.

      Dear TANOY 8D SOUNDS,
      Many thanks for your question.
      Could you please elaborate? Are you thinking about the number of users that have purchased this device globally? Or are you inquiring about the number of simultaneous users that this router accommodates on a given network? If you could kindly provide more details about your question, we'd be happy to provide a more comprehensive reply.

    No Poe out. for home use, the RB4011 is better.

      Dear Pedro, many thanks for your message and contribution. We will convey your comment to MikroTik as a customer feedback. If deemed feasible, maybe they could add a PoE-Out feature to future upgrades of the RB5009.
