Are you guys ready for a rollercoaster with this painting? I certainly was not ready haha. I learned so much doing this portrait. I feel like I improved the artist eye, if you know what I'm saying 😉 Anyway, DON'T GIVE UP friends. Thanks for being here with me, love you!

Loved the portrait but above all I loved that you shared the struggle you went through with painting it 😍 so inspiring 💪 we just need to keep going
Thank you Filipa 💕
The portrait really came through in the end! Thanks for reminding us that bumpy painting processes are normal, I tend to give up when I'm just not getting a painting right. But working on changing that mindset, I always feel like we have an inkling as to what to do to "fix" the errors, but it is for sure a frustrating process. Looking forward to your next one
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video 💕 thank you Rania!
Good work. I’m so glad you pushed through. Painting is definitely frustrating but also very rewarding. We just keep chasing the dream of creating an unforgettable painting.
Thank you Heather!
Thank you so much for sharing your struggles. It helps to know that I'm not alone when I have super frustrating painting sessions! I'll keep going 💪🏼💖
Definitely not alone 💓
I really admire your braveness to show us the real process and struggles ! I wish I can continue and don't give up in oil painting 🥺💜 I learned a lot thank you.
Today's lesson for me!
There is always a better way to find (:
And still you have a long way to go so let's practice more and more (":
Keep it up! 💕 thank you for this sweet message :) Happy painting!
Cool!! You did it!! I think I agree with you, the left turn was making the cool shadows trying to match the values from the photo in B&W. It felt good just before that move, and at the end, where you warmed the shadow area back up, and made it a little lighter. You really challenge yourself in your portraiture practice, painting so many people you know well, and you have a good sense of likeness and expression.
thank you so much!! 😊
Thanks for sharing the real process!
I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
Absolutely stunning and gorgeous painting will say you are very talented artist!
Thank you for your kind words 💕
Hi Ana! I love your painting! ❤️ you’re an amazing painter. I just wanted to share a tip ~ I think your photo reference is the reason for your struggles. Make sure you use good photo reference. His face is in shadow and the only features you can make out are all in halftones. This makes it hard to define the face in a painting. Regardless of that, I think this shows that you’re an amazing painter because you were still able to make an amazing painting in half tones despite the photo reference not being well-defined!! I think you’re an amazing painter! don’t be discouraged! ❤️
Thank you Neda for the tip! You're totally right! That wasn't a great reference photo. I certainly didn't know what I was doing back then hehe but I know that now. I appreciate your words 💕🥰
Your hustle was well worth this video, as well your frustration. As an old art student, I commend you…
I appreciate it, thank you!
hi ana i love your content and i have tip that really helped me be more confident when drawing, u should try using blue or red colored pencil. i know it doesnt seem like much but i promise it is. also when painting over colored pencil it wont blend into your paints.
ooo thank you for the tip! I'll give it a try :)
I aim to enjoy every painting/drawing I do, and to learn something from each one. That way the "mistakes" are less of a big deal. By the way, I bought the colour theory book you listed, it's very good!
I agree! Although I struggled with this painting, I really enjoyed making it 😊 I'm so glad you got the book! It's really good and I find it easy to follow :)
Maybe your husband is squinting because he is angry at the sun!!! 😂😂😂
Nice work dude, I think you pulled it together at the end :D
hahah! probably! thank you Scott :)

Really nice painting Ana. Thanks for sharing the struggle.
Very encouraging about not giving up at the first hurdle. X
PS: Love the glasses too.
Thank you Paul!
Awesome
thank you!
Nice job with the painting and persevering! 🎨
thank you Jill 😊
Turned out great👏🔥
thank you 😊
loved this honest video! When do you choose to abandon a piece vs push through?
thank you Savannah! hmm, good question. I feel like it's two different feelings. I think the easiest why I could explain it is by looking at painting as a puzzle. I'll "abandon" the puzzle if I change my mind on the idea of what I'm painting but not because I felt like I couldn't complete it. I'll push through when it's a really hard painting that I want to complete. I hope this makes sense 😄
Ana Felicitaciones por no darte por vencida!!! Valió la pena! Sencillamente espectacular!
Muchas gracias Lorena 💕
thank very much for sharing
Thank you for watching :)

Thank you for the Arabic 💗 translation
you're welcome 💕
Your drawings are unique 😍
thank you :)
My son ❤❤❤
hehe ☺️
You're beautiful and talented. The painting appeared to be frowning somewhat, to make him look angry
thank you!
Dear Ana, Portraits are the hardest to paint, that is what I have found. I am attempting to paint my children’s Baby photos. I have decided to set them aside for a while. Have a look at Florent Farge a French artist. Love to you, Annie QUEENSLAND Australia.
I agree! And actually, I think portraits of babies are even harder! It's harder to identify the planes of the face because their faces are round and not defined
❤️❤️❤️❤️
