Its sad to see so many people with influence in the pokemon community flocking to whatnot right now. They must be throwing a lot of money around, because I know they were offering funko streamers something insane like $30k loans to start stores. While I wont judge or hate anyone, its plain to see that this company is not run morally. And I say this being the FIRST ever whantot streamer. I have text messages from the owners and creators from feb of 2020 recruiting me. ad I cut ties with them as soon as all these scams starting coming to light. Sad. I love how you said that instead of supporting other MORAL streaming sites like Drip, people are choosing to go to Whatnot for the payday and ignore everything bad thats come out. I love Jake and his content, and have faith that he will see this isnt a good move. We all make mistakes in life.
Yeah my biggest issue is definitely Whatnot itself. Rip and shipping has its place. I just hate seeing these big dogs like Jake rewarding them with his image and community. I got no problem half promoting other sites like Dripshop. So long as they learned from whatnots mistakes. Thx for the comment Applesauce!
TwiceBakedJake was the first CZcamsr I saw when getting back into the hobby in November. Sad to see him endorsing this after starting off as such a wholesome advocate for the collecting side of the hobby.
I don’t think he realizes what his content really meant to people. It really does feel like he joined the mega evil corporation, given his communities response. Then expecting them to just go along with it. I would have went a different route like simply anywhere but whatnot for starters.

I would like to start off by saying you made a great video with amazing attention to detail. You actually provided us with much more information than other poketubers that “inform” the community of shady activities lol. I don’t condone scamming or anything of the sort. It’s completely messed up and I think that the folks doing it should get banned instead of a “warning”. There are a good number of community oriented streamers on the app. I go in very few streams because I only go into streams that sell raw cards and graded cards. Yes, I look for a deal but the guys that I support the most will give anyone a deal. One person in particular is marthegamer.. The guy is currently deployed but he’s genuine and will always look out for anyone that comes into his streams. I highly recommend watching him at least once even if you don’t buy on the app. He’s one of the few I’ll defend since he is such a good person to everyone. But again thank you for the great content.
I have the app and have been on several times. I’ve even made a purchase a pretty long time ago the 1st time I downloaded it. It’s however, unfortunate that it’s not so Black and White but rather Grey area. There are definitely good people on the app that absolutely will take care of you and care a lot about their image. People message me often telling me about certain really high quality streamers on the platform. It’s just that the ratio is really low and the organization has been ran by very irresponsible, slow to act individuals who delayed and covered up sooo much bs for sooo long. The company doesn’t deserve to succeed given the insane amount of transgressions in such a short amount of time. Also although opening packs is a form of gambling, whatnot has made Pokemon cards synonymous with gambling. Every gambling scenario you can think of involving TCG cards was essentially implemented and perfected and spread on Whatnot.

@MimikBrew I went off today on another huge rant and went back and forth with him on it. what not us just after tubers subs and followers to fuel thier scamming carnival. will he give a shit when some long time followers of his get scammed on whatnot, not saying by Jake or any honest tubers. It will be from the long term carnival scammer on there. But they ppl like Jake will be bringing them there. I asked if he will back them up with whatnot once thier 100% scammed

They turned a blind eye for sooooo long allowing so many people to be scammed. It really would have been nice to see bigger consequences for Whatnot. Instead we get bigger streamers joining them. 🤔

My bad I assumed it was known. Or at least common knowledge. But not everyone is knee deep in TCG stuff so I should have explained better!
Whatnot has been great for my kids collection. I’ve purchased a lot of Pokémon cards well below market value, singles and sealed products. It’s all about finding the legit sellers who are actually community based. Stay away from the sellers with the largest following cuz yes, people pay insanely blown up prices in these shows.
With that said… I fully agree that influencers crossing over and selling for hugely inflated prices is some lame ass shit.
I love this post. Pinned! It is lame. It’s also complicated because lots of good people are involved. My single biggest point is that Whatnot didn’t even get a slap on the wrist for hosting such scammy activity for so long. Instead just more influencers are joining. They need more competition I guess.
Theres nothing wrong with selling on whatnot if you do it legit. TBJ will probably be an honest seller. Whatnot is just getting a bad rep from rattle vids and the dishonest sellers on the platform lol.. but if you use a bit of common sense youll be able to tell if someone is sketchy or not (whatnot 😅)

So you think all the fraudulent activities and scams that have taken place over the last 2+ years on that platform is totally fine because you personally haven’t had a bad experience? Hundreds if not thousands of people have lost millions of dollars purchasing things “bounties” “Guess the energy” “duck race” games etc. that were all disguised as legitimate on whatnot that have since been proven to be complete scams. Just saying there’s an endless amount of negative consumer stuff that’s been going on there since its inception.

Some people just have a price, even if they start wholesome. Honestly Whatnot is just kind of a cringe platform. Oversaturated by hype streamers and scams.
It definitely has a cringe feeling. So many unprofessional set ups with terrible music quality playing in the background, people smoking etc
@@MimikBrew I just can't get with the vibe on it. I thought about trying it in the past. Because I already stream. But idk something about buying up a bunch of loose packs at 2.50 which are probably dead packs anyways from box breaks. And then reselling at auction for like 6 or more and taking a hype voice for it it crazy to me. Like why not just buy singles. Idk maybe I'm just missing out as a fulltime seller. But whatnot just ain't it for me.

I’m ok with most of his videos, except for when he complains about not pulling certain cards. But he also complains about sets after hardly opening enough to really judge. So now he gets to open an endless amount. I wonder how it will change his perspectives

I'm speaking from the financial side of his videos ... he preach about don't pay high price for certain item or wait til it come down or worth buying ... yet he is doing streams to sell packs at a higher price when people can go buy items themselves at a cheaper price and rip it in person ... why pay someone to rip and ship your products.. that one video basically disqualify his past videos regarding to that aspect
