  • How to put a scope on a rifle (and then go and shoot a fox with it); how to handle a big-bag partridge day at the mighty Challacombe shoot on Exmoor with just a .410 or 28-bore in your hands (badly); how to shoot pheasants straighter with expert Mike Yardley on the beautiful Mornacott Estate in Devon; and how, if you are an Oxfordshire lady, you can enjoy a lovely day's shooting with your girlfriends. That's what's on the menu in this week's Fieldsports Britain, the best weekly TV show about hunting in the UK. Actually, the only one...

Hi Malc. It's a Sony HVR A1E which has Sony's IR 'Nightshot' system. Going more commercial means I now have a 2ndhand Sony Z1 too! Cameramen David and Chris have much better kit...

from looking through Cabelas or Bass Pro websites, all you guys seem to get is Realtree HD!, almost every gunshop that has clothing sells it I'd say, traditional, but a bit of a faf vs a modern coat and a pair of trousers....

Are these Grey Partridges and are they wild, or bred for purpose?
They might be difficult to shoot, but Greys, as Britain's most sedentary bird, don't move far from a small locality and can easily be driven to local extinction. They are indeed extinct from many areas of the country where they were once abundant. Sadly, only the Isle of Man has outlawed their hunting.
I'm not anti-shooting, but no-one should be shooting these birds - it does your credibility as conservationists no good.
