  • On Sunday, February 11th, I accompanied Bando and the B-A-R RSC300 team to Mobility Resort Motegi (formerly Twin Ring Motegi), as they continued the shakedown of the new Soarer build. The week prior, at Hero Sinoi Circuit, they were successful in their first running of the car without any major issues; including the ABS trouble they were having in Part 1. Motegi would give them a chance to test the engine setting at full boost, at much larger venue. This was the first time seeing the car fully assembled and seeing the fit and finish of all the panels was impressive. The RSC300 is truly a world class build.
    During the first session, Bando came in without completing a lap due to engine issues. The problem ended up being a fault cam angle sensor. Although Sakai was able to replace the sensor, the session ended up being cut short with only a few full laps being completed. The data was downloaded and used to set the car up for the next session. Bando reported that the car was very twitchy in the rear during braking and corner exit, so they realigned the car with added rear toe. On the first lap of the second session, Bando was able to full throttle the car at the higher speed straights, only to discover that at speed, the front aero began to interfere with the track surface; something they couldn’t see at the smaller Hero Sinoi circuit. The temporary remedy was to pull the front dampers and add bump stop shims, as they didn’t have heavier front springs yet. The shims weren’t enough, unfortunately, and even with the splitter end plates uninstalled, the front splitter made enough downforce to scrape on the straights.
    The next morning at Tsukuba, the team had swapped front springs for 50k rates and had the car aligned and ready to for TC2000. Several 55 and 54 second laps later, they had gathered even more data. The settings for Attack Tsukuba Championships this past weekend, his 3rd drive at Tsukuba in the new car, allowed Bando to clock a 53.7 - a range that he was more comfortable with given his previous 52 second lap times. With only 1 week of testing complete, the car is already showing very positive signs of improvement. Without a doubt we’ll be seeing Bando get closer to 51 second lap times soon.

    I always in love with Bando's JZZ30 because of unorthodox choice of chassis for time attack, glad that he continue to push the capability of Soarer and looking forward to see low 50's lap at Tsukuba very soon 🤞🤞

    Thank you for the time invested in covering such an infamous car (or sister car to the OG Soarer). The Japanese car scene seemed somewhat in decline from the golden era 15 - 20 yes ago and it's great to reminise and see amazing new builds getting the coverage they deserve. There is just something so pure about the way the Japanese build their cars.

    Love that you're covering this car so extensively. Sight Hound / Kantansou really did a beautiful job with the body construction. But I'm sure you've noticed Japanese tuners love this "trial by fire" style of testing a car; many hate using dynos and seem to encounter a lot of small, otherwise preventable problems as a result. Looking forward to seeing it run with all the issues worked out!

    this series is fantastic! awesome camera work and the on screen captions add so much great info to the story.
    love how it feels like you're just a floating camera around them while they work on the car!

    I'm a big fan of this now. I love the approach, even though the soarer chassis isn't commonly used in time attack. But with the long wheelbase and they've managed to mount the engine back so far, will be awesome to see the potential they can take this to. Hope to see it make it to WTAC in the future.

    What a car 🥰. I also like his little team, it’s a group of friends… awesome. I’m a little intrigued by the fact that he’s not running shocks with external reservoirs. The cars aero is pretty extreme so he’ll have to look into that (I know that’s what the bump stops are for) I’m just saying like in the sense of fine tuning.

      I also noticed he's not running a rear sway bar

    • @Superficixl
      @Superficixl Před 4 měsíci

      @@GalliJZ oh shit I didn’t even notice that. That’s a little understandable since it’s a flat floor with diffuser, the sway bar might get in the way. He’ll have to make a blade style one and mount it inside *if he has the space.

    Looks nice but I wish the interior had a dashboard (at least made of carbon fiber) and not look so empty with just tubes.

    • @NaritaDogfight
      @NaritaDogfight  Před 4 měsíci

      There is, sort of, it's partially firewall. The engine is pushed back 40cm, so if there had been a dash the engine would be inside it. Which it essentially is. Watch Part 1 of the video for a better look

    • @kenecchi
      @kenecchi Před 4 měsíci +1

      Having a dash made of carbon fiber is kind of unsafe in the event of a crash, plus the look of the interior isn't exactly a priority in a race car. Would basically just be extra weight + stuff to get in the way

    obviously a huge amount of blood, sweat, and effort went into this build, but the rear end aero is waaaay behind the pace of modern time attack machines. I suspect the car will perform well just based on the glorious power plant, but the rear end aero will hold it back.

      You can see that the Japanese are very inspired by the JGTC cars, just look at those inlets on the sides of the car's body, under Suzuki is also inspired by the JGTC with its S15.
