  • In this video I tear down the Kyosho Mad Van before my first run and discover that the factory lubrication is doing nothing & not touching the gears. I refill it properly and head future problems off. Now it will run quieter and cooler! If you like what I'm doing, please like, share, and subscribe, and please tell your friends about my channel! See you next time! - Riff 😁👍

    Good catch, I keep telling people that even though it’s a ready to run you should go over everything just to make sure everything is right.

      Thank you Brother! I agree completely, I always go over my RTR's before running them for the first time and inevitably always find something that isn't right or could potentially shorten the life or durability of them! I always admired that you feel the same way! 😁👍🤜🤛🔥🔥⚡⚡💯

      Thank you Brother! Absolutely, no matter the brand, how expensive or inexpensive I always tell my viewers to check the diffs and go over all of the screws because a common problem I have found in all of them is that they sometimes don't lube or don't do it properly and some screws are loose or need loctite. Anything being mass produced quickly is going to have things missed no matter the QC. It's just the nature of mass production. From my inexpensive wltoys all the way to my most expensive rigs, I've seen the exact same things so it's really good to check them before the first run😁👍 thanks for watching!💯 🤜🤛🔥🔥⚡⚡🙏

      @riffraffsrc  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks brother much appreciated! I have found this to be the case from most well known expensive brands all the way down to the inexpensive stuff. Sometimes the cheaper ones do a better job! Lol my one real point especially for newbies is to always check the diffs and go over all of the screws before you run it even though you really shouldn't have to. I guess the upside is that you will learn how to do it. I actually did a tutorial of how to do it from start to finish in a previous video but it was unfortunately lost when a hacker destroyed my channel recently. Thanks for watching! 💯🤜🤛🔥🔥⚡⚡🙏

    • @richsmith6810
      @richsmith6810 Před 2 lety +1

      @@riffraffsrc yeah you are absolutely right there. It's a good way to learn by going over the car to check everything out. It's just one of them things I guess isn't it? They are all made in big numbers so things are bound to slip through the quality control process

    • @riffraffsrc
      @riffraffsrc  Před 2 lety +1

      Exactly, and even more so now since the pandemic began. There is so much pressure to get the orders filled that stuff is bound to slip by even with the best QC. Every company and factory are playing catch up for sure.

    • @riffraffsrc
      @riffraffsrc  Před 2 lety +3

      Yes, I've been finding that most of the RC's that I buy, have little to no grease in them at all. Even the name brand kits. I kind of expect it in the budget models but it really is upsetting in the more expensive ones. I've gotten to the point I check all of them before I run them which is annoying but necessary if you want them last. Thanks for watching! 🙏 💯 🤜 🤛 🔥 🔥 ⚡ ⚡

    O my that's crazy! I don't believe they did not use another set of bevel gears in it like with the Foxx I have also ..guess you can buy another set and add them in and make it much stronger like I did with my Foxx. It's a beauty that's for sure!

    We are lucky to get a half filled diff with oil in most trucks! They couldn't even push the grease into the gears.
    Definitely get 4 planetary gears! Truck will run smoother less noise and diff will last longer.

    • @riffraffsrc
      @riffraffsrc  Před 2 lety

      I was surprised they didn't put all 4 gears in. Kind of surprised because kyosho is pretty good about quality. The grease not being on the gears was surprising too. Really glad I checked them before I ran it! 🤜🤛💯🔥🔥⚡⚡

    Great video...so you put the white lithium grease inside and outside the diff on the gears? Did you put much inside?

    • @riffraffsrc
      @riffraffsrc  Před rokem +1

      Yes, both inside and outside. I just put enough in to almost fill the cavity with the back placed on. The lithium grease is fairly light, so it's not really a problem if you over fill it because it doesnt interfere with the gears spinning. On larger RC's, there are times when it's desirable to use a heavy grease or diff fluid that slows the gears down so that you can tune it by going heavier or lighter depending on what you want, but generally in these tiny models, the white lithium works fantastic for me. It makes them much smoother, quieter and faster. 😊 Thanks for watching 🙏💯🤜🤛🔥🔥⚡⚡😁👍

      Yeah, I think they don't want to pay for or can't get the licensing for it. It would also make the price higher.
