depends on map ak74 is better at range more consistant hits and controlability akm harder hiting 2 hit on all range/armour cheaper better at close range.

AKM fires 7.62 and the AK74 is the 5.45 version but it also has a 7.62 variant in real life, having not played the game I'd expect the AKM to have more stopping power and bullet penetration due to the larger bullet but that's at the cost of a slower fire rate and more recoil

AK74 actually has higher penetration then the AKM. The Soviets replaced the AKM with the AK74 because of the higher lethality of the 5.45 round.

@@xxxxxx5868 nah its because 5.45 rounds perform really well for mountain terrain in Afghan, where it was first serviced to Red Army. 5.45 also tumbles effectively, where 7.62 tends to overpenetrate. After some field days, another benefit discovered where its also lighter and kicks smoother. Ballistics of 5.45 almost the same as 5.56

AKM when defending, 74 on offense. IMO
I love TDM, it revived my interest in Insurgency: Sandstorm.
I personally prefer modes with "target", not TDM, because on TDM you never know from where enemies will coming from.
@@mattjewmatt9689 You have to start memorizing spawn points, but even then spawn killing is still an issue. However, some would argue that spawn killing is part of Insurgency: Sandstorm.

i've found the controllability of the AKM is actually greater (brake/foregrip/irons on both) than the AK74 as the lower ROF helps you re-adjust to stay on target
I agree but at the same time the 74 is a bit more forgiving because of the higher ROF. love them both but prefer the 74 because of the looks haha

The AKM a bit cheaper, slightly better at close ranges (2 shots instead of 3 for heavy armor), but it has more recoil, fires slower and is worse at range. I prefer the AK-74 because I feel like it's more consistent and reliable. The Ak-74 is also the lightest assault rifle in the game currently.

Same round and barrel rifling not much difference other then the loading mechanism but at the end of the day almost the same stats but the game can do whatever it wants to real life statistics
g36 is underrated
It has better irons, a 2 round burst, its cheaper, and only has slightly more recoil. I've no clue why everyone likes to shit on the g36.
G36C and M4 use the same type of bullet, but the M4 have better fire rate

It's the other way around, the akm uses the 5.45

@@GooperLIVE because in real life the 5.45x39mm round is much higher velocity and the Soviets spent some time developing the rounds terminal ballistics. It cause severe wound cavitation upon impact. There is a reason that the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan called the 5.45x39 round "posionious bullet during the Soviet Afghan War.

@@ratnikgaming2800 real world vs people including in body armor the 5.45 is better vs soft cover the 7.62x39 is better lay people often get confused that caliber size being larger is always more power it's definitely not the only factor. Especially when talking about 7.62x39 which is an intermediate cartridge and significantly less powerful than the round it's designed from the 7.62x54r
With over 200 hours into the game they’re honestly both equal. Similar TTKs just one kicks more and does more damage while the other has higher rate of fire and less recoil. It’s all about preference in this debate. The only thing would be that the 74 is a bit better at closer ranges while the AKM costs less.

I would think the AK-74 might have a higher cyclic rate, better accuracy, less penetration and less lethality per round than the AKM.
@TacShooter the 5.45 irl has higher muzzle velocity and terminal ballistics, in addition to causing large cavitation wounds when it hits soft targets. It is more accurate but more lethal.In game they balance simply by saying 7.62 = higher damage and from a gameplay perspective its a fine concession to make really in order to make weapons differ. I think the 74 has less recoil to balance this. I know when I use the 74, I tend to out perform my use with the AKM.
The gun sounds in this game is fantastic
If I’m running AKM I only run the DONG and if I’m running 74 gotta run the 40 rounder cause every guerrilla soldier from Chechnya to eastern Ukraine runs those big ass Bakelite 40 rounders or jungle taped mags cause reloading is usually what gets u killed in a close gunfight.

The AKM is chambered in 7.62x37mm and the AK-74 is chambered in 5.45x39, if you look at the AKM it has a bigger round, but the AK-74 has more higher velocity than the normal 7.62x37mm.
Minor critique from the far future: x39, not x37
AKM is 7.62 and AK-74 is 5.45, so theoretically the 74 should be more accurate on followup shots and the AKM should hit harder further out. but it seems out of the old wood and metal AK platform the recoils is pretty much the same. I prefer AKM over 74 in squad at least, purely for the damage and range of the larger round, since within 100 meters it dosent really matter and outside of 100 meters you want more punch
@c1ph3r 428 lol yup. Id say AR when fighting insurgents since their ballistic armor is at most likely only lvl 1 or so for pistol rounds. but vs a state actor i wouldnt be comfortable with a round that small.
7.62x39 looses way more velocity after 300m, and at that point you're arcing the round so much it's more or less indirect fire. ballistic energy of 7.62 x 39mm is already halved by 200m. I own both, and at close range the 7.62 really hits like you'd expect, but you can expect a bit more from the 5.45 at ranges past 200m. 5.45 rifles also have what is often called a 400 m "zero", and are really easy to hit center of mass within that range. 0 at 50, +2 at 100, +2 at 200, -3 at 300, and -20 at 400, which when aimed at center mass at any range below 400 means you get a center of mass hit ranging from the belt buckle to the neck.

I [personally] really hope that sandstorm becomes one of the staple FPS games played at/in Esports, honestly.
I love counter strike: globally offended however, I feel like a mixture of the faster paced game modes and the little bit slower but far more tactical & skilled based game modes, insurgency sandstorm would be a massive hit within the Esports community, and, everyone involved from the pro's playing and the viewers that just love to watch would also love it as well plus it'd be seriously refreshing.
being as how last I checked the only 'realistic' if you can call it that, but, more so tactical shooter in esports is CS:GO, sandstorm would be the perfect addition to the Esports community as a whole & would be very, VERY well received.
although ik it probably won't happen, seeing as how all the pro teams would be calling it "unfair" & "gay as fuck" considering they'd have to do a lot more thinking about what theyre doing, where and how they're moving, more thought put into conserving ammunition, et cetera et cetera.
I just doubt the "pros" would be willing to play a game like this, that is far, far more challenging than CS is due to its heavy stance on realism.
what I think this game does better than squad is simulating the pure chaos of modern combat, which it achieves by having a generally faster paced gameplay experience than squad. its the call of duty MW2 of realistic mil-sim's & I love it so goddamn much and I think Esports would be even better off than it already is should they added this title and others like rising storm 2 to their roster.

@@p0tat028 no way near my guy,the Kalashnikov alpha is a very inferior version of the AKM. The avtomat kalashnikova model 1974 is closer to the 1947 variant plus the ak74 uses higher velocity cartridges than the alpha male kalashnikov

Well, I can't say about the game but, I own two AKMN's in real life, so I'll have to vote for the AKM. I really like the 7.62x39mm cartrige. Their are plenty of AK74's and, AK74M's avalible to buy but, I don't want one. They are more expen$ive and, I'm not to jazzed about the 5.45x39 round despite what it may cost. I had a gun buddy ask me if I would ever buy a AK74 and, I told him "no" because I already owned a AR15. He also asked if I would ever consider a 5.56x45 chambered AK and, I told him "hell no!" I might consider an AR chambered in 7.62x39.

Even though the 74 or 47 sound more powerful because how loud they are, the akm is actually the newest ak type rifle. So it would make sense that the akm deals more damage and is better in general, but ofcourse a insurgency would more likely have ak 47 and 74 because they are older and cheaper to get.
The AKM is much older than the AK-74 LOL.The AKM entered Soviet service in the early 60's it is an improved AK47 using stamped pressing.the AK-74 in 1974. The AK-74 is basically an AKM rechambered in 5.45x39mm.
When you seen an "M" at the end of Russian weapons it stands for "modernized" in Russian. Example akM(AK) PkM(PK) AK-74M(AK-74) T-72M(T-72M). In Russia the AK-47 is simply called AK thus the improved AKM just got M. They changed this nomenclature system in the 70's

You could of done some research atleast. 80 percent of 'Ak-47s' are AKM's. Chambered in 7.62x39. The AK74 is much newer but chambered in a smaller round 5.45x39.
I run the akm with both muzzle and grip recoil attachments it’s makes it have no recoil it’s so much better than Ak 74

Isn't the difference just caliber both weapon use? AKM uses 7.62x39mm > high penetration but lower velocity > you'll notice delay/have harder time hitting enemy at longer range.
Ak-74 uses 5.45 > good for longer range but less penetration
so ak-74 is good to use in maps like crossing and parts of precinct, but mostly akm is better
5.45x39 is higher velocity and more damaging ballistic wise.
Plus the stamped and milled receiver changes
Akm = better penetration through walls and armour.
i fucking hate the deathmatch, i probably would love it if spawns were less random and fixed based on the map.
What has better gun mechanics? This game or PUBG. I know it's the cool thing to hate on PUBG these days, but which game has the superior gun play mechanics? What do you guys think?
Btw I'm not talking about the mags, I know that this game is much more realistic since you can't look at how many bullets you have magically and bullets don't teleport to you inventory

@@mauriciorv228 it's not about enjoyability. Pubg has much more advanced gun mechanics than most, of not all mainstream shooters. For example it's not hit scan. So you have to least your shots and account for they distance. And bullets lose damage over a certain distance which is realistic. And there is also bullet drop. It's probably the most realistic of all mainstream shooters. But is it more advanced than insurgency? I personally never played insurgency that's why I'm asking

and more sway if your loadout is heavy. It’s hitscan until like 100m and proyectile based after that distance.
There’s also differemt reload speeds for example the tactical reload and the normal one.

Could the devs fix the armor, like even in real life if you would get the strongest bullet resistant vest, it wouldnt support to take that many bullets as the heavy armor does in the game

I literally only use the g3 and the fal, easily the meta guns of the game
The AK-74 is just better, imo. It has less recoil. Put a foregrip on it and you have the perfect killing machine. The damage is pretty similar compared to the AKM. The AKM is not really worth it with higher recoil, unless you REALLY need that 1 supply point.

True for in game but in real life small rounds are faster (this is put simply) and so do more damage to flesh as the bullet explodes on impact causing more severe internal injuries compared to the larger round which goes right through leaving a clean wound.

You purchase guns and explosives and other stuff with points every match, you don’t keep them.
Ignore the other comment, You have a certain amount of supply points for each class that you cant exceed and every weapon and attachment/other equipment costs points. No purchasing or unlocks.
