You should re-heat that entire part, then temper it properly. After bending it and working it, you likely caused the metal to have internal stresses and flaws, possibly small cracks. Something to remember for future? This is, however a very good idea.

Try adding stiffeners on the edges and sides. Think like a c section piece of steel bent into your s shape. It will make the piece much stronger and safer and still allow the clearance you need. Be safe friend.

Should have stabilized(drawing) the bend in an oven after bending it & used gussets to stop bending or breaking. 4.8 tons divided by 4 =1.2 tons or 2400 pounds per corner. you should never weld on a hydraulic cylinder ( the top part), because it could leak at the seal/ wiper. fun thing is, with the welding it got more durable cuz the silicon flashed off, also part of the carbon burned off
also, from the heat it got softer in the stress area meaning it won't break as easy
for this application perfectly acceptable solution
while not the professional way, it delivers results and that's what counts^^

Do not, ever, put your hand nor anything belonging to your body, under a heavy load. He just didn't realized the same container that went down in front of him can go down again and he put his right hand under that mass chopping bulk of steel.
Don't do it again. Or you'll use the left one, until Jehovah regrow your smashed under a 4.8 Ton container right hand just to save few bucks. Don't play with your body pieces. Protect yourself, and keep inventing!
    Take care! And thank you!
Also, whenever you're placing a pad under your container. Use 2 minimum. Bricks whatever you use, use 2 +. If one decides to break, it'll hit the ground or loose level. 2 +, will back up one.

Using a spring leaf for this device is not the best idea because it's brittle when heated or welded. May have failure. The beam with reinforced 90 degree bend may be safer.
