Yeh, I love the expanded Nightbird story.
well to bad she always gets retools as toys. Her look in rise of the beasts was really good. If only they gave her more to do in the movie (same for anyone besides Jazz and no I'm not calling him Mirage that is jazz in attitude and alt mode only reason he isn't named jazz is they thought the name was too dated to appeal to younger kids.) And that her toys were some of the absolute worst of the movie line. If they treated her better she could have had a good setup to become more of a main franchise character.

Transformers multiverse is giant, and random name reuses are a norm.
I don't feel its bad her toys are retools, she is sadly a nobody in terms of marketing, so its hard for her to be worth her own mold.
I don't own any ROTB Nightbird toys, so I can't comment here.
