Most of these cameras have the same issue. The only long term Solution is do what you have done and completely disassemble the lens unit and clean the blades properly Good work
Excuse me, you removed the rear lens unit, when you assembly it back, did you refocus the lens by adjusting those elements position? I replaced a rear lens unit in my Canon Demi EE17 and all photos are out of focus after that.
