  • This was one of my first circuits in a newly acquired Ventus B (hence the wobbling and nervous fiddling with flap controls - That's my excuse anyway!) 50 flying hours later, I love it to bits! - A great aircraft!

I see one of these for sale on Wings and Wheels for 30k seems like a good deal. I'm planning on training to get my glider PPL in the fall but probably won't buy anything until I get some hours renting from the local glider place where I will get my training. That Ventus B seems like a good deal for the money can't afford more then 30k I would like to get my own glider. I have spent long time thinking about getting my PPL powered flight just going to be too expensive with training, medical, hangers, annuals on and on. I'm really only interested in flying not really going places my wife hates airplanes so it will be a solo hobby gliders suit me just fine. I have had a few flights in a grob years ago loved it. Thanks for the video

Hi. I hope you will get as much pleasure as I have from flying gliders. They are wonderful! 30k sounds a good price for a Ventus B, but just a word of caution, it is not an ideal first glider. The B model was a racing machine for cross country competition. It's a bit like a thoroughbred racehorse in a way, powerful and responsive, but quite a handful to control. I know of a club in Australia that has one in its club fleet and they insist on pilots having 250 solo hours before they attempt to fly it. The Ventus C was the manufacturer's attempt to upgrade the B and make it more benign and more easily flyable. I'm sure the instructors at your gliding school will have their own take on this and will be available to give you advice on a good glider to suit your personal requirements. Enjoy your flying - it's changed my life for sure - (try looking at my website www.siliconchap.net to see how!)

Thanks for sharing. This looks like a well-instrumented Ventus: what's that on the top right hand coaming? regards from the Discus ZK-GPV syndicate

Thanks for the comment. I'm very proud of my new glider! It's a Ventus b Turbo and the bump on top of the right hand coaming is a fold-down mirror, so I can see the engine and prop while it's operating.

Ah, I wondered if it was a mirror (I've been wondering if we need one). I didn't realise you had a whirly thing folded away.
