All the videos we have coming up will be bringing out all the haters! We are going completely old school. There is no better time than now when the trucking industry is struggling!!
Love it Tim
No hate from me lol. I love the old trucks
SUP DRIV,AH? I WAS THINKING ALL US SUBSCRIBER'S NEED TO DO SOMETHING FOR YOUR POP'S HE'S ALWAYS WORKING SO HARD AND DEFINITELY NEEDS TO KNOW HOW APPRECIATED HE TRULY IS ? WHAT YOU SAY BUDDY?
Love old school Tim that's where it's at
Hater’s can hate. Old school rules let’s get back to how trucking used to be a brotherhood
Nice to see that GMC Astro put to work after years of being out of service. Some trucks may be old, but legends never die.
The Astro is bringing back memories from when I rode with my grand dad.
The GMC has a very healthy engine very nice to hear it run.
Old iron never dies they just get better! Like wine!!! Love old trucks... old trucks scream "freedom"
These trucks kept America alive - I started driving ‘em back in the 80’s. They make cool parade toys, but I’ve gotten used to the newer ones. I just don’t think I could give up the comfort & convenience for a 40 year-old back breaker.
It makes going to work a lot easier when you enjoy the people you work with
Looks like that old gmc has power steering
I grew a trucking company back in the 90s by diversifying.. I ran everything from 1tons with goosenecks to oversize.. kept busy year round
When I was a kid my friends would be at the fair riding the rides, I was out back looking at all the gmc cabover carny trucks ☺️
Its amazing how the 73 cabover can can pull the 53 foot trailer
The local feed mill used to run nothing but GMC General cabovers. All Detroit 2-strokes. As the saying goes, check the fuel, fill the oil. The owner of that feed mill went to great lengths to maintain that fleet for decades after GMC stopped making Generals. They were dragging in parts rigs from all over the country.
Worked at a GMC Dealership back when I was a kid (late 60's 70's. Changed many a cab on the Astros. Knew them inside out. Also worked on Thermo-Kings. Number one problem was the evaporator beeing blocked with paper or plastic cutting down airflow. Easy fix
Love watching the road through the windshield of a cabover, Reminds me of my childhood
I would love to see that truck restored with the same paint scheme... I love it!!!
Positive attitudes are the best way to be . Enjoy your channel Tim . Always waiting for the next one .
That engine sounds so gruff, so sweet, so smooth and grunty! When I was in Hanksville Utah coupla years back on holiday I was grubbing round a junkyard for old licence plates (I'm a English nut job who collects truck and heavy machinery souvenirs and badges) and there was one just like yours there just sitting in the sun, a real beauty. The fella whose yard it was is called Lyle, drills water wells, one of the most friendly people we met on our trip. Anyway, love yer channel guys...YEEEHAW!!
In '73 I hauled steel all up and down the east coast with one of those, loved that truck.
I have nothing against roll-up doors, but I have to tell all of my drivers to watch out when they're open and closing them. You can't just slam them around, that's what messes them up Everytime!!! Great video thanks for sharing.
The GMC bring back memories my father used to work for a company called North America van lines. With those big front bifocals windshields you can see everything and everybody from a mile away.
Love the sound of those old trucks!
People forget that these old.schools will keep going as long as you.showed them some love. My first two trucks were 80s Kenworths, my cabover had a 400 Cummins and a 13 speed, the W900 had a B Model Cat and a buttonhook 15 speed.
I just love cabover. First truck I learned to drive.
Y'all remind me of when I first got into trucking 45 yrs ago, family, have some laugh, keep up the good work Sir,,,
You're on to something good! My first truck, was a '72 Titan 90, with a 318 Detroit. I paid $500 bucks for it.
64 MPH@2400, but it would move anything you hooked to. Hauled a LOT of sod with it!
How in God's name did you buy a whole semi for 500? And where can I buy a 500$ semi?
@@benjaminturpin2749 I bought that truck in 1997. $500 trucks were actually pretty common then.
Love the old school cabovers!!! My dad drove an old Pete cabovers and it reminds me of riding with him!!!! Love the channel and the content!!! Can't wait to see what's next!!!!
2 minutes from my house there is an old GMC Cabover that has been sitting in the driveway for years. It would be nice to see it running. It's a beautiful truck.
What state are you from bud?
Wonder if they will sell it
Living in East Tennessee and seeing your channel be successful is awesome 🤘
I drove an Astro 95 new in 1974 it had bus mirrors on it. I loved that truck.
That’s awesome I used a old 76 gmc road camode with a 350 big cam comeapart Cummins and heavy equipment dove tail trailer to get my cdl in 1998 no power steering and that time I was 165 lbs it was all I could do to turn the thing.
you are doing good job dont care about others many people likes your videos and I'm learning from you thnku for making videos...
Had a 1977 International cabover with a 350 big cam Cummings with a 13speed for 2yrs and mechanically was awesome but had way to many electrical problems! Truck would do well over 100! One of the best trucks I ever owned!
The wiring was a chronic issue with the older IH product. I ended up doing some re-wiring on my 4300 Transtar, back in the day. Headlights looked like candles. I think it was only getting 10 volts to the bulbs.
I love the sound of any diesel 2 or 4 cycle big or small. Btw it’s cummins not cummings
love that gmc cab over brother keep up the great work. Love what you do with the trucks and running a company. 👍👍👍👍
I noticed you like the old school and I do too that's the way we learned and there was nothing wrong with it
Glad to see that box back on the channel
This video brought back memories and pains up my back. Drove the Astro’s in the 80s. Dad’s advice: Be careful what you are scratching because everyone can see you with that windshield
Man it be pretty cool to drive some old school stuff, love the videos and positive energy keep up to good work G&S team
I’d take all the time needed to restore that gem even if it’s a “work truck” because in the end it represents you and your personality
I believe that belongs to one of Tim’s buddies and is just being loaned out…solid old Astro, though.
first truck i ever drove brings back good and bad memories
Cool video Tim appreciate them keep the wheels rolling buddy 👍
Love the sound of that gmc
Just finishing Bruce’s latest video and now this!
Just missed y’all by a few days. Took a load up to dc in gordonsville va. Went by that truck wash to. Came back down through the ole fancy. Man it’s pretty around them parts. Blessing to live there
Man! I get home from church and get blessed with a Gentry video?! I’ll be dipped!!
Thinking about Tim and the Gentry family! Can’t wait to hear an update and Tim is home!!
That GMC sounds awesome.
GMC Astro. The first big truck I ever drove. I don't know what others problem is , if I was a young man I'd drive for you.
They are very good men to work for
I like to see what u all are doin . Nice job n u are more than competitive
Man you sure got a thing for steering knobs. I like them on my lawn tractor but never on any truck that I drove in my 40 yrs. Of trucking
Dave
Damn that GMC run’s like a bat outta hell 😄👍 I love cabovers they’re my favorite semis well the big bunk kenworth k100 is then the Peterbilt Cabover then the freightliner and Mack in that order
Tim shout out to the cameraman. Last couple videos stepped his game up he’s getting there. You can tell he’s taking pride in what he’s doing. I don’t get seasickness like the first couple videos when he was new lol. Keep it up!!
that's good u r runnin a gmc astro very rare to see them runnin
Great video, love the cabover.
Great video Tim
I HAD AN 1985 GMC 315 CUMMINS,,,,,,,GOLDFISH BOWEL ON WHEELS....GOOD TRUCK
I've always wanted to get ahold of one of those units and use it as a AC for a house 😂
Tim I have a 98 peterbilt 379 and recently only one of the metals copper pieces that your dad was switching out broke and ended up in the oil pan it broke a small chunk off 1/4 width maybe a inch long . I believe it was the first or second one from the front of the motor. the motor is a n14 red top. We bought the new parts but I’m just in a tight spot with money to pay a mechanic if you could help a fellow trucker out with anything with putting the new ones in or do you think done for, my motor still spins everything was just working fine before this but I love the channel and where your taking it
If one of your bearings broke your gonna need to do some investigating, a big chunk of metal breaking might have done some big damage. I recommend you take the main bearing cap off where the one broke and carefuly inspect if it is savable, also for the love of god please do not spin the motor anymore. Theirs loose metal inside your engine. Do not spin it anymore
I remember either reading or some old time telling me with a big cam 400 always put a higher volume oil pump in it, and I'm pretty sure that's what's going on with yours running 50 plus instead of barely 30. It would oil the top end better I believe either way it's better in the summertime
I know an old Wal-Mart reefer when I see one! Haul them every single day. We are up to 317 series trailers now. Oldest ones we have are a 305.
beautiful video 👍👍
I got a 66 KW conventional, talk about simple, this thing sat for over 13 years all I had to do was wheel her over with the compression release out until the oil pressure was showing around 20 on the gauge let in slow and she fired right to life.
I was just at dinner bell Saturday also the truck stops up at lovell rd are usually a lot cheaper then any where else close by love the videos
Great video you got you a left lane cabover
Great video!
Great content thanks for sharing
I love that old truck!!
I like the GMC cabovers.
My first try at OO, was with an ASTRO 95. 6V92 TA, with an Allison Auto. Never had an once of trouble, it was a great time !
That truck in front of you at the truck wash was from where I live cool love the gmc
That's a good looking Cabover Jimmy
Awesome video!
Good video Tim
Hey Tim I love the videos! You should get some little microphones that go on your shirt for the times where you have your filmer working, I find it difficult to hear you guys at times when your not actually holding the phone! Keep on truckin !!
1st truck I learned how to drive a big rig in.
I love the GMC ASTRO ....
Tim u got some nice rides
That view reminds me of my 66 GMC cracker box.crazy truck
Relocate your steering wheel speed handle onto one of the spokes of the steering wheel. Smaller circle when turning your steering wheel and won't catch your leg or gut. 👍😊
I was just surprised to see the spinner. Haven't seen one for some time. My gosh, but there was a time when most all trucks and tractors had them. I had them on many of my own vehicles till it got hard to find them. .ade backing in and close quarters maneuvering easy.
That Hicks truck in the wash is from banner elk nc keep up the good work
I love cab overs
I used to have a Chevy titan 90 318 Detroit 10 speed coast to coast hauling nuclear waste in the 80’s
Had low oil pressure issue like that on a Cummins, it was a "crankcase" filter.
There was two GMCs in a lot at foot of the Manhattan bridge with the same paint job but they had 430 Detroit
When your Detroit Diesel is low on pressure like that on the oil check your oil bypass to make sure that it's not stuck because if it's stuck it'll make you have low oil pressure!!
That's a nice setup I'd run it all day
Nice to see that fishbowl GMC back on the road doing what it's supposed to do. If
The last company I drove for had very talented mechanics. When the owners brand new, one driver Peterbilt had constant problems, the plan was to buy some 1970s or 80s tractors from the no rust South, strip to the bare frame rails, and sandblast those, and build a new tractor from the ground up. Don't check brake chambers or wiring, replace with new. All new everything but the block pre emissions Cummins and Cat engines. Unfortunately the company didn't survive to complete this plan.
My grand father had a 75 Astro he used it for years but he retired it and brought a 379 peterbilt
That Braxton is a real trouper i know your super proud of him ,, i know i am 😊👍 I’ve been watching y’all for some time now ,,, i drive trucks also least to a small co in Dallas Tx and I’m trying to get my little outfit off the ground also but my 2000 W9L that i drive won’t let me breath,, two weeks out and it’s in the shop the third week like clock work ,, I also wanted to do a Chanel years ago with my two trucks a 86 Cabover Pete 362 long wheelbase and my 2000 w9 but i don’t know what I’m scared of 😄 ,,, my cb handle was CoolRunnings when cb,ing was a big thing out here ,, and yes like the Jamaican bobsled team coolrunnings I’m from Jamaica 👍
First truck I drove was a 76 GMC Astro.
I gave up doing a/c cause too many cheapskates think freon of any type, (R134A charge is around $75-$150 pending amount and the newest R1234yf is $150-$200 + charge again depending on amount) should be free...🤣😂😅 Let them roast. My vehicles including my 1995 Taurus wagon a/c is ice cold🥶 ..... Works 4 me! A/C systems are similar in a lot of ways. Oil, pressures etc change pending on systems and of course ambient temperatures. Knowledge is everything. A lot of consumers just don't get it. Great content as always Tim. Old School Forever 👍👍👍
✌️🇺🇸
cab over.... . nice.
Learned on a ford cl9000 and gmc Astro
10:03 that's me behind you in the little truck with the trailer
The Astro sounds healthy
Hey Tim I don't know if you're feeling your filters when you change the oil on your trucks but it's better not to sometimes your bypass will get stuck that's the way it is on 855 Cummins I know that I don't not too sure about Detroit's and cats but
Being a forklift operator, the thing I don’t like about roll up doors is the trailer height pallets…. They don’t fit in the roll up doors…. You have to break down the pallets, and re-stack them in the trailer.
Love the videos❤️
Great video! Love that old cab over. On the refrigeration should use a service valve wrench to preserve the valve stem and do not over-tighten in front or back seat position. Over tightening will damage valve seats or packing gland. Refrigerant level should be checked will all zones enabled and at setpoint. The liquid receiver will have higher level when all zones are not enabled or below setpoint.
Another thing, refrigeration units are critical charge and should be weighed in to not over or under charge. Lastly 404a is a blended refrigerant and should be charged in liquid state to prevent fractionalization.
And your Bro was right about riding Shotgun.... Scary as Heck, I always kept my feet on the dash in fear of being thrown thru the windshield! And Bob Tailing was worse 🤣
