- This late 1950s / early 1960s Pan Am Airlines travelogue about Hawaii comes from the era when commercial jet travel and in particular the Boeing 707 transformed the islands from a distant American possession only reachable by cruise ship, to an easily reached tourist destination. The film shows Oahu and its beaches, Kauai, Lanai, Maui, and the island of Hawaii. A Hawaiian Airlines DC-3 is seen at the 16 minute mark, along with Hawaii National Park and its volcano. Also shown in the film are local industries such as fishing, sugar and pineapple plantations, and of course many activities for tourists including surfing.
