Thank you for answering the questions. I am 75 and just starting carving and I am completely open to all your suggestions and recommendations. Thank you again, Bruce Johnson
My pleasure Bruce! Carving is a great hobby and creative outlet. I have a second CZcams channel called Wood Carving Weekly and you’ll find some good information in those videos as well.
Your hillbillies are terrific. I made my first one (which turn out better than I expected - incidentally, the well detailed instruction video made the difference). I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you.
Yes, I highly recommend heineckewood.com/ they’ll take your order by phone or by email and ship you the wood with an invoice and then you send them a check for payment. Only place I know that ships you the product before you’ve paid for it. Best Basswood I’ve ever used.
Hi Jack, I just subscribed and really liked your Q&A , do you always carve wth a box knife? Also I use a couple utility knives at work ," I'm a painter " and it seems the ones I use, the blades move around quite a bit. Is that one of the reasons you use the one you use because it doesn’t move around? Sorry for the long questions :)
Hey Scott! Thanks for subscribing! Like most carvers I have a whole collection of knives and I tend to rotate using them. I do use the Stanley more often than some of my other knives. I put a piece of blue painter’s tape on the edge of my blade whenever I load a new blade into the knife. The tape protects the edge that’s inside the handle and keeps a tight fit so it doesn’t wiggle around. When it’s time to flip the blade I just move the tape to the dull edge that has already been used and it’s good to go.
