    I’ve had MT7’s on my stumpjumper for about 2 years now and I love them. Whenever I try another type of brake regardless of which brand, they just feel terrible compared to the Maguras. I just got a new bike and switched the brand new SRAM G2’s off of it to put my Maguras on because I just can’t stand the mushy feeling of other brakes anymore. Magura for life.

    Used to ride BMX in the '80's. My main choice for Maguras? I do not like the big fluid reservoirs on top of the other brands. Maguras are hydraulic and they look like hand brakes from the 1980's.

    A handguard must be used if you are using MT7 Pro. They are just fragile.

    Will you do a review on the mt5 too? I am not sold on both of these brakes. As the screw is fragile, but the system is claimed to be strong but yet it is fragile, that makes no sense. But I know robust aluminium lever would work ell for me.

      the fragile screw is a design feature. as the main lever body is not metal but the polymer carbotecture magura perporsfully use the plastic screw as it is a softer material than the hole it screws into. the torque for tightening it is only 0.5 nm so it can be very very easy to over tighten it. by making the screw out of a softer material it means over tightening will damage the screw and not the lever body. it costs much less to buy a replacement screw than to buy a replacement lever body. hopefully now it makes sense why the screw is only plastic. im a mt7 user and theyre awesome..

      @@trailbuddiesuk7127 Yes, you're absolutely right, but it doesn't stop being annoying, I always have a spare package of etb screws just in case. Metal inserts would solve the problem but add some weight.🤔

      @trailbuddiesuk7127 Před 3 lety +1

      @@trailattraction3678 agreed. I also keep 2 spare screws, just incase .. fortunately the magura brakes don't need bleeding with excessive frequency so the need to unscrew and screw back in isn't a regular occurrence otherwise I could see damaged screws happening with too much regularity making it a major negative rsther than , like you say, an annoyance :-)

    Hey, thanks for nice review! I recently bought the mt7 also 2021 edition and so far I noticed both front and rear pads are ever so slightly rubbing the rotors ( the new MDR-P floating rotors 220 mm ). The problem is not a matter of misalignment, but they are rubbing against the full length of the rotors no matter what - basically there is no space between pads and rotors. The pads should be well bedded in already since I did a good 10-15 + descends . I talked to my mechanic and he said nothing he can do, it’s not a matter of bleeding , so I’m really frustrated with this problem. Other than that I’m very satisfied with the brakes.

      Try to open the ebt bolt and then without the whell and without the pads push the pistons back inside a bite, a little oil should came out on the lever then close the ebt bolt again, put your whell and pads back again and press the brake lever a few times for the pistons the set themselves. Worked with me👌

      I've had luck putting a shim like a business card under the pads during alignment. No rub for me after alignment.

      @DX-tk6fy Před 2 lety

      Face your brake mounts on your frame/fork. This will likely solve your rubbing issue.

    I got the Mcaskill edition offered, should I go for it? Have you crashed badly with these brakes? I have handguards so my brakes are protected quite well, but I am skeptic, but do u think I should try them? Or order Trickstuff Maxima or get Formula cura 4?
