4x4 Off-Road UTV Build - START to FINISH

- From start-to-finish homemade 4x4 off road utility vehicle build made from used front wheel drive car parts, homemade tube frame and other homemade parts needed to make a car work. The whole project was built over a span of one year.
This is the last part of a series of a four wheel drive utility vehicle build to lessen the work load on my trusty 2002 Honda Foreman Rubicon TRX500FA. This partially answers the question "Why?" but for those who want to ask "why don't you just buy a UTV instead of building one?" I just want to say - I'm not made of money. UTV-s are ridiculously expensive, even the car I drive around daily is worth less (not worthless though!), hell, it is even worth less than my 2002 Honda ATV.
"How much HP will it have?" - the 1.4 litre FWD Peugeot petrol engine I'm using has 55 kw and this will not change, but the torque is tripled via the BMW E39 differentials I'm using to transfer power to front and rear axles.
"It will be too heavy!" - this project just like the firewood processor project does not have to float. And a heavier vehicle will handle better anyway when hauling heavy loads.
All of this fabrication is done in my tiny homemade workshop.

The only thing I’d have done differently assuming I had your budget and skills is to have had the engine totally rebuilt before installation. You’ve put so much time money, and effort into this build! Great job!

You know it's not just the many hours of skilled trial and error in the build but also the vision to see BMW axles and a small engine and turn them into an impressive and practical car. Well done!

Nice build, it seems to work well. As an addition, If you plan on driving it in the forest, I would put skid pans on the bottom. Getting stuck with a stump in between the frame is not very fun. Unless the whole thing is light enough to pick up by hand and move off of the stump of course.
This. The brake-lines could use a shield as well, so a branch does not brake them.

Well done! Finished in time for the winter season. Hopefully will make snow clearing and work around the farm much more enjoyable. Warmer too sitting beside the engine.

Step 1: Own a BMW or Buy a BMW
i really like the wood storage racks using the liquid crates, and tanks cut diagonally for a roof/cover. that's a very good idea, and i may borrow it to store my own firewood. i can get those crates rather cheaply, and have been trying to think of a useful way to use them. this is the best one yet. thanx!

Well it cannot be denied. Your fitting is exemplary . There are very few in this pursuit who make as clean a job of the fit out and construction. That thing is built like a tank. Specially in comparison to UTVs & quads.
