Aerospatiale (Eurocopter/Airbus) made this documentary back in 1984. It is the only video I know of with an inside the blade factory view of how the Starflex rotor system is made.
I had it on a VHS at one time over 20 some years ago and I burned it onto a DVD who knows when. Found the DVD last week. Had to find a DVD player. and there we go....
@EUROiSAFETY nicely done. I was shown the video when I was doing my aircraft maintenance engineeering training 22 years ago now. There is a newer video (early 2000's) of the MR blades being constructed and flown to the master blade. Seen that one at the eurocopter factory, doubt it has ever been publicly released. You guys do great work btw,
The polyurethane is there for all models. It is extra protection for the blade at that point. They discovered extra wear there so to create better longevity the rubber material was placed between paint and fiberglass
