Whoever got this beauty is one lucky SOB. Classic styling from that era, which is my fave.
Thank you Matt . So sorry for the loss of your Dad . RIP Dale 🙏
I had no idea that the clutch worked like that. I always thought it was like a car and you would have to make sure you always had your right foot on the ground when you stopped. That does look much easier now. After I win it, I plan on keeping it and riding it around in my fine 39’ t-shirt I now have. Thanks for the video. 🇺🇸
Starting and riding them is a piece of cake. I've been riding on the street 49 years. I ride my 1949 EL at least two or three times a week. The only problem I have is when I stop somewhere even to get gas I'm surrounded by people asking questions about my bike.
Every once in awhile you catch an old movie with a motor cop on a knuckle or pan and it's just cool to see them riding them like it's nothing ,but you know they're having fun.
As an old dude we always knew this shit and it was never a problem. Nice to see younger folks having an interest in it though.
What a beautiful bike! Congratulations to the winner!
I buy tickets every year, I love supporting this place!!!
That is a beauty. All the talking before the ride. That keeps the over caffeinated and stressed 4 wheelers happy. You are not slowing down to do such. What a very nice bike. You guys did a great job on the rebuild.
Appreciate the educational video...always fun to learn more about these vintage bikes.
Rolling artwork! Beautiful scooter
I experience some real feels when I see you jamming down the road on that piece of history! I love the museum and the Asheville area. They both feel like home!
I would of loved to of been riding that around England now.. absolutely beautiful
Many thanks for the demonstration 🙏
Thank you. This video answered all of my questions. Cool. 😎
Great Video Matt , I have to get me some tickets . And I need to get working on my Pan so I can ride it this Summer !
You have the Best Museum anywhere !!
Oh it sure would be nice to own that beautiful piece of history. Someone is gonna be so lucky! I'd sure like it to be me!
Dream on two wheels real beauty 👌👍
I’ve enjoyed your videos, all of them! This one though I had been thinking about. Sure gonna look nice sitting next to my Model A.
Just love the old bike.
Great video Matt. First Harley I ever drove was my father's 1942 WLC Military with a 3 speed tank shifter and it ran beautifully. Around the same time my father acquired a brand new 68 FL Police Special which was designed for a sidecar. That bike also had a 3 speed tank shifter with a reverse. It was a little trickier to downshift from third to second because the shifter was free floating and had no guide on the tank. My father would let my brothers and I use it with the sidecar attached to get to school. The Goodyear Grasshopper rear tire would help a lot in the winter. We had to bundle up a lot but it sure beat taking the school bus.
Nice! I'm watching because I just bought a 1929 Matchless T4 and I have clue how to ride it yet! Arrives on Friday.
Beautiful machine
Beautiful!
Was curious about the mention at the end on retarding the spark? Necessary each time you come to a stop or just pre shut down? Great video that instills confidence.
RIP Dale. And thank you.
Winning one of those would be a dream come true I couldn't tell you.
Beautiful bike
beautiful !
Beautiful Bike i wish i was closer to come visit y’all :(
Bought some tickets and the history passion speed shirt. Thanks!!
Would love to ride that back to California. Yeah, I've got tickets.
I learned on a 1946 Knucklehead with a sidecar then a 1951 Flathead. Both suicide clutches but I am ambidextrous.
I have that on my bucket list.
beautiful bike
outstanding
Beautifull.thanks for sharing :)
TOE -TO-GO !!!
Thanks for that.
I'll treat her good.
Great video
Awesome
He makes starting look so easy! I could never start a big twin except by jumping on the pedal from high off the seat, not just push the pedal with my leg. Only big guys could do that, not my 125 lb. small frame.
Très belle moto ....je kif à max
Playin' with harleys all day ,doin' what you love ,livin' in North Carolina. That's what I wanna' do when I die.
thats beautiful, are the the hand shifters sequential like a modern foot shit or does the lever have a specific spot to be in for each gear?
Wow sweet bike. Shes a bueaty
U should take to the freeway to see how it handles and show some small details like the light the speedometer
Hey Matt, don't wear my bike out before I come & get it.
Did these vintage bikes have throttle cables routed in handlebar or is there some other type of mechanism in there? I never see cables
the clutch is right foot the shift is lever the right hand is front brake lever , rear brake is left foot pedal........? the best way to teach is standing still , when you buy used , you just look and follow connections to motor and brakes. when you ride you will see it in your mind .
How about a lesson on riding old Harleys with sidecars? Lots different. I rode a stock 1941 ULH rig for many years. It was the only way my wife would go motorcycling.
I want to win but I have to admit I'll ride it for a month then sell it and get a K-Model and a 1970 electra glide ...
The two bike's I've lusted after since childhood....
And any money left over donated back to the museum....
Simple man with simple tastes
Hermosa 😍😍😍😍
Nice bike, isn't 61 ci close to a liter? I am interested in something old but not that old and not that big. Like a Honda CB77 or CL175 from the late 1960s or early 1970s. Wasn't that a red Karmann Ghia that was parked there when you first got onto the road there?
For “toe to go” do you hold the toe end of the clutch pedal down constantly when you’re riding?
No, it will stay in either position once you go over center a spring holds it.
Pretty nice camera work! Only way to get that better would be to use a drone. Great gear shifting and clutch work lesson. Such a shame that the EVs are coming like a freight train. Harley better get on that game very quickly. Two ways to go. High digital tech; and, retro mock electric solenoid pistons.
What a Beautiful piece of iron Matt ! Only problem is , that i didn’t win it , do you ever let people that live in Canada win ? Or am i just waisting my money buying tickets on the many bikes that I’ve bought tickets on !!! Happy New Year Bro !
Stop putting miles on my bike!!!!! Lol
Chances of a buddy thinking he can borrow it and just jump on and ride off are still high.
Hi Mat. What is the value of this bike in USD?
Did you sent it to France if i win it??
If I win I'm riding my Hayabusa cross country to pick it up, donating the busa to WTT, and riding home on the Harley.
About how much does a bike like this weigh?
Has this raffle happen already
When the linkert pukes gas all over it's time to turn on the switch.......
Get it up on compression and kick vigorously. When you disengage the clutch your can take your foot off of it but if you rev the engine it will take off . Hence the name sucide clutch.
And always remember it's heavy and it won't stop worth a damn. Enjoy your vintage experience.
Hey brother how can I get a ticket
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🌟🌟🌟
Sucks to live in asia, what a killer bike
It’s not the right selector for a 39.
I'm only 30 minute away.
I would love to have it. But, would kill myself trying to ride it.
😙👌
;
Stop riding my bike
You should really consider getting a decent helmet unless you're wearing this for comic relief
Don't tell people how to live their lives, this is America group thinking clod.
And you should mind your own business
awesome! thanks
