    We get a lot of people asking us which stands they should get. But everyone has different tastes, and not everyone has the same budget. So, we wanted to compare some of the stands we like, and show you what they offer at different price points. For the high end, we went with Pitbull, mid-range we went with Woodcraft, and for low end pricing we went with Vortex. All of these stands are great, but hopefully this video will give you an idea of what you can expect with each of these stands.

    Benefit to a head lift front stand is that in a lot of cases you can get away without removing the front calipers to remove the front wheel. Just drop the front wheel a bit and twist the forks inwards. Saves a lot of time at the track when your changing wheels 2-3 times a day or more.

    Woodcraft: It doesn't look like there is enough clearance to get the front wheel off. looks like 1" of light under the tire ( not enough to clear the front fender) and rolling the front wheel and tire forward would hit the stand....?

    I know Pitbull and Woodcraft are the gold standard for stands but couldn’t be happier with my Vortex rear and triple tree front stands. Good quality and value. The Vortex might not be as over engineered and as robust as the Pitbulls and Woodcrafts but theyre still very heavy duty. They not like hose cheap $20-$60 stands which won’t even support your bike. I have Pitbull side stands though which are amazing. After spending loot on your bike, parts and gear its nice that Vortex has such good quality matched with great value.

      I have the same set feom Cycle Gear you do. And while the rear is easy to use, I find the adjustable handle gimmicky. If anything, they could have made it removeable. The front stand and it's pivoting rubber mounting points are garbage. Several times now the forks slipped off the rubber while raising the bike. Unsafe. And unsat. And yes, I am deliberate with my alignments. It's just something in the design that concerns me eveey time I have to raise my front end.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Před 3 lety

      That is true you will need a different pin for most every bike. To date we have not had a model where we were not able to use the Pit Bull front stands on with the correct pin. That said I do know there are some models out there where there are clearance issues. Most of these are sport touring models. - Van

    I tried using this type of stand (vortex) but they are total garbage with a zx14. Maybe for a light bike they are acceptable. Even with 2 people this type of stands are garbage. Instead of spending a bunch of money on 2 stands that limit the work that can be done on them... try out an ABBA stand (with the extra bars).

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Před rokem

      The Vortex stand is more of a budget stand and does not offer the strength or build quality you will find with Pit Bull or Woodcraft. I am not familiar with ABBA so I have nothing to add there. The 14 is a big bike and you will be better served with a strong stand for sure. - Van

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Před 6 lety +1

      If you have the stand use them for winter storage. It gets the tires off the ground (not a huge deal but nice to do) and reduces the space needed to store the bike in the garage a bit. - Brian Van

      For the RC390 I would go with a Spooled Rear Stand. Here is a link to that on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/pit-bull-spooled-rear-motorcycle-stand/ You will need a set of spools installed in the swingarm to use the stand as well. Pretty sure the spools are the same for all years of the 390. Here is a link to them on out site as well: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/driven-d-axis-swingarm-spools-ktm-rc390-2015/

      The Woodcraft Spooled Rear Stand has adjustable height which allows you to reduce the lifting effort by setting the height near 1" from the ground. Works very well and is one of the best features this stand offers IMO. Here is a link to that stand on our site:
