I was so pleasantly surprised on closing night when Celia and Vicki stopped the show cold with "Bird Upon the Three"

I saw it three times and I remember a huge ovation at every performance for that song. It really was an audience being taken by surprise, and I relish the memory.

I feel like this was a preview of what Celia & Victoria could have been in The Light in the Piazza. Does anyone know why Celia was replaced by Kelli?

From what I've heard, the authors were experimenting with making Clara more mature and older. They figured out pretty quickly it didn't work, but in the meantime, Celia booked Spelling Bee.
I saw Celia in Piazza in Chicago, and I thought she was absolutely brilliant. Kelli sounded better but no one acted it like Celia.
