Andy's world famous sense of humor and patience is on display. This sense of humor enabled him to keep Stewart and Sting from killing each other while the three of them were still together as a band.

@deehinker1848: that interview did quite the number on me as well. I have purchased four out of five of Andy's books (I can't recommend the tome of "A Series Of Glances" enough), his last three solo recordings (his creativity gets more refined and fiercely eccentric over time), and tickets to see his slideshow/solo guitar tour over the summer. The influence of his guitar playing on my own is always there like a worm in the wood as Sam Shepherd used to say. Long live Andy and long may he reign!

Out of all of the members in The Police, the one who is the best chronicler of the band and its dynamics, day-to-day existence touring on the road, crises about self identity while getting swallowed up by a star gazing machine, Andy is the man. He is honest, disarmingly intelligent, never impolite, but still real. His book, "One Train Later" is still the best we have towards a band biography. All three were indispensable and would not have made it to their level of success in any other combination. This resulted in five great albums. If you are a Police fan you recognize their sound anywhere.

This is so good, especially Andy's genuinely straight face at "We've got a lot of hits, it's hard to know what to leave in and what to leave out"! And DL gently poking fun 😁 ah the Chat Show now seems like a beautiful remnant from happier, more innocent days... Summers is a fabulous musician and artist, my guitar god, still plying his craft at 77 years young 💓🎸💯

@@alukuhito Absolutely, in fact I'd say he was slap bang in the centre of self-indulgence, especially at that time when the band was soon to split. Andy was probably desperate to have some of the limelight that Sting had hogged for 6 years. All 3 Policers have massive egos, and Andy acknowledges this in his own book. It's what made/makes them interesting and is a big reason why they achieved the huge success they did (along with huge talent, skill, hard work and a fair amount of good luck and fortunate timing). Andy's humour and intelligence, for me, counterbalance his ego.

@@alukuhito This interview is of its time, so of course it will seem a bit stilted. Have you read Andy's book 'One Train Later'? If not, I suggest you do so to gain a broader perspective on his life. It's common knowledge that Sting was the primary reason The Police split up so early. Andy and Stewart would have continued if Sting had been a team player, but he's not. Anyway, regardless of their personalities, their outstanding music will live on for a long time to come, and that's more important than a chat show interview, in my opinion.

Andy is very affable, witty, cheeky, sarcastic, and open despite being a massive rock star, I love his personality, he was pivotal in the band's success as all of them were
