रांची के कुछ मुहल्लों का नाम मूल नाम से बदल गया है, जैसे- डोरंडा( दुरंग दाअ), हिन्द /हिन्दी पीढ़ी( इन्द पीड़ी) । अब धीरे-धीरे तुपुदाना का नाम भी टीपूदाना हो रहा है। सतरंजी को भी सड़क किनारे के बोर्ड में सतरंगी लिखा जा रहा है।कुछ पीढ़ी बाद के लोग उसे सतरंजी नहीं, बल्कि सतरंगी के नाम से पुकारेंगे।बरियातू का नाम भी ( जैसा पुराने लोग बताते हैं) बरिया हातु हुआ करता था, जिसका अर्थ भी था - दो गांव।
