    The reason why VVS is a legend is because he thrived in adverse conditions: The more difficult the conditions, the better he played; this innings he played in conditions made for Lee, Warne, and McGrath and looked like the local. So when enthusiasts start that tedious conversation about averages in different eras comparing Kohli, Smith, Warner et al., to Bradman, Sobers et al., I remind them VVS averaged painfully shy of 46 and those young gents do not come close to him.

  • @RandomGuy-pr7gt
    @RandomGuy-pr7gt Před 6 lety +149

    Magician with his wrists, his stats doesn’t justify his talent. Most of the time in his career he had to play with lower order or tail, if he was sent up the order may be his stats would’ve been better. But watching him play was an absolute treat.

    • @viivekkaushal5504
      @viivekkaushal5504 Před 3 lety +15

      Not exactly....Even his stats are impressive 8781 runs @ average of ~ 46 ...n that too when u bat with tailenders most of the time.....A man without whom some of greatest wins were not possible.....However, only God knows what would have been the case had he batted at 1 down ( his preferred position) ....We had the Wall at 1 down, God at 2 down,Lord of offside at 3 down, so a player of VVS's genius had to bat at 4 down....

    VVS and Sehwag are always a danger for Ozzies, especially VVS (he must have loved or cherished so much in his career in smacking Ozzy bowlers all around the park), Sehwag another blistering opener they are not comfortable with........they had plans for Sachin, Ganguly and Dravid.....but not for these 2 boys..they defied many plans.....when they start.... they will never stop... absolute treat to watch....VVS with the bat is like a warrior holding a sword and going ting, tong, ting, tong..............that too when VVS and Dravid are partners in much needed partnership, man they go many a miles to sort the trouble for the team as in Kolkata and Adelaide....I love VVS going down the track and hitting Shane Warne like he is nothing...golden times of cricket....

    He was one of the few Indian batsman who played well when the team was under pressure..

    100 from just 114 balls with strike rate 87, facing the best bowling attack at their own den.
    Something which sachin lara sehwag or even pierersen has never achieved.

    one of my favourite Test batsman. His lack athleticism, fielding and poor running between the wickets costed him regular ODI spot. Inzy bhai had same problem but his captain handled him better.

      He underwent knee surgery early in his career,that hampered his pace between wickets
