- After 54 years in the Indian music industry, singer SP Bala has a myriad of stories to tell about the high and lows of life. The start of his career was a beautiful accident of fate that let him to record over 40,000 songs and work with some of the greatest artist in history.
In his initial career, SPB faced some rejections and was determined to pursue his ambitions of becoming and engineer. Through the encouragement of S Janaki, he found the courage to continue in the industry. SPB also opens up about how much family time he lost and his biggest regrets throughout his career.

I just feel like crying ! Just see what a HUMAN he is (I won't say he was, i can't) , when he said i don't want to change anything from the past i was like How one can be so humble and so beautiful, we all complain about i wish i could change that & this. Also when Sir mentioned life is like a cake sometimes you get a piece sometimes you don't but it's OK that's what life is, Thank You Sir for these golden words !!! He is one and only singer whose voice you can easily single out from all other singers regardless with whom he performs whether as a duo or as a solo performance. One of kind, a star that has gone to the Galaxy to sing in God’s heavenly choir. A lyricist talented for bringing ideas as words in a lyric, a music director gives music to transform those lyrics into a song and a talented golden voice then transforms those words and music gives it a life that is transformed from sounds to words into our ears and hearts and minds. It’s a synergy, today one of the synergy star has faded away from our sight but not from our heart and mind.

A great, thinking, talented yet a humble man has passed the ages. The interview style is very good. The interviewer comes across as a great listener prodding the master to reveal a little more of his mind and heart with each question. This is so unlike what we see on desi TV -- shows such as Thapar/Sardesai/Barkha/etc -- where the interview speaks just as much as the interviewee.
India is proud of you and your achievements SPB garu. Words feel just so feeble and futile in any language to express how much of musical wealth you have distributed along with all your friends and colleagues over the past 50 years. Dhanyam!
