- We're currently in the midst of a Godzilla renaissance. With the release of Godzilla Minus One last year and the more recent Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, satisfying your cinematic Godzilla cravings has never been easier. However, amidst discussions comparing these two films, there's a regrettable tendency to dismiss Godzilla x Kong as if it never should have been made, simply because Godzilla Minus One, which won an Oscar, is considered superior - and rightly so. Yet, this doesn't mean there isn't space in our vast cinematic universe for both versions of Godzilla to stomp across our screens.

Seeing professional critics try to compare apples to oranges and dismissing the latter because the serious one came prior made me realize that critics are hacks.

Getting The New Empire's reported production budget down to $135m as compared to $155-170m of the 3 previous movies was the best thing about it!

Godzilla was the hero in tohos movies until recently
Funny thing about Legendary Godzilla is that it mirrors early Japanese Godzilla. First movie was pretty serious and it got goofier and goofier. Few more movies and he will do WWE dropkicks and use his breath to fly backwards.
If anything, more Godzilla movies should go as ham as the monsterverse has so far, if not more ridiculous and wacky, because we have the perfect Godzilla movie already

Ask the showa era of Goji movies! Movies starring the big radioactive lizard was at times goofy when teaming up with an ultraman expy, and other times pretty serious when discussing major themes such as pollution. That's what makes Godzilla as a film franchise FUN, like Transformers, Sonic the Hedgehog, and the TMNT, it's a franchise that adapts to any situation presented to it.
You were doing SO good…. Up until you took a random potshot at GvK? Which was a fun as hell movie and a great payoff to 3 solid movies before it. Like it took me right out of this whole essay.
The fact that they tried to continue after what happened with literally all the talent they had on board is bad enough, but now they’re pushing out shitty content like this with trash tier audio and a poor reviewer who probably isn’t allowed to have a personality in his videos this is laughable just close down the channel at this point lmao
Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's a really solid dude, but I can guarantee he's been told not to introduce himself, not to get personal, and not to allow his personality seep into any of the videos.
I really hope the folks left here will find new jobs soon because looking at their view counts there's no way this can continue.

Dude, the human focus part is very well represented in 2014 Godzilla Movie and Skull Island as well.
Totally agree with both of those. The Monsterverse started off far more in line with Godzilla Minus One than its current dumb fun take on it. Hell, 2014 Godzilla didn't really have a true monster fight until the conclusion. But they've veered very far away from that.
Shame about the lack of human focus in the new direction of this channel.
