On June 15, 2024 around 00:01am CSX is no longer required to use Cab Signals in their locomotives as Cab Signals were getting decommissioned after 80 years of service. Today after June 15, 2024 around 00:01 we will have PTC (Positive Train Control) meaning any locomotive with PTC can lead on the RF&P Subdivision. In the future of this we will see foreign power leaders, EMD leaders, older AC4400CW leaders, and much more as long as they have PTC support. They will be able to lead.
Here's videos of CSX Trains on the RF&P, Alexandra Extension, Capital and Metropolitan Subdivision
    Little info on Cab Signals
The locomotives that usually/use to have Cab Signals would be the CSXT ES40DC locomotives 5200-5501, CSXT ES44AH 900-949, 950-999, 3000-3249, CSXT ET44AH 3250-3474, Ex Conrail SD40-2s 8801-8889, EMD SD70AC Flared Macs 4701-4830 and AC4400CWs 472-599 also the AC6000s 600-699 5000-5016 and GP40-2s and much more. Many times when cab signals were in use to this day, PTC has always been required since it was available on the RF&P.
However the combination of cab signal/ATC, wayside signals, and I-ETMS came together, it actually caused more problems and failures than I-ETMS with waysides alone.
