Both the student representative and the university representative, Mike Hanna, spoke highly of the protesters rights, integrity and discipline being of high priority. Finally, I’m satisfied in knowing there remains some levels of decency for America’s best and brightest. Being a twice retired teacher and a long ago protester of the Vietnam War, it hurts deeply to see students, professors, peaceful protesters being thrown to the ground and handled in abusive manners. As Americans, they have the right in America to protest in a peaceful way.
We have just returned from Vietnam. Everyone, who has been to Vietnam, knows that those officers don’t make small talk. It is very tense. When we entered the country, in the immigration hall, the officer kept pointing to my South African passport. South Africa, South Africa he said all the time. For one scary moment I thought there was a problem. Then he gave me a double thumbs up. Wow, what a moment. It made me realise, that despite America and Israel’s efforts, the entire world knows who and what the problem is and is in solidarity with the Palestinians.

Your comment made me so emotional, remembering what South Africa had to endure for decades. Then Nelson Mandela became your president and that was one of the most memorable days of my life, I absolutely loved that man and wished we could have had him longer in this world. Can you imagine what his presence would be like today with this genocide, he would be using his power to do whatever he could to help the Palestinians. He would be so proud of his country for having the courage to stand up for humanity, his legacy lives on in his country.
I'd just point out that it's become much more common these days for students to take summer classes than it used to be, particularly in the first part of the summer (its usually split in half) so I wouldn't assume campus will empty, a lot of places will but a lot will still have people around

Protesting is good cause it brings positive change. If people didn’t protest we would still have black Americans picking cotton from dawn to dusk in chains and regularly flogged while doing so. If people didn’t protest we would still have apartheid in South Africa or young children working in coal mines like they were working in coal mines in England at the turn of the 20 century. Many former politicians and businessmen were also students and are currently participating in politics. Students should also become famous politicians and businessmen and participate in politics to express their opinions. Protesting according to movements and making unreasonable demands only proves that the student protests are spontaneous and disorganized.
