    You could also remove the burner pipes (uncrew the bold on the left side) and clean the insect mesh at the end of tube where the valve connects.

      Cool. I will check that out. I have never cleaned that part. And the BBQ is due for another deep clean soon. Did not know there was a screen in there. Thanks for the comment.

    My Q2200 is only a few months old, but from new I lined the bottom with foil. When it gets too greasy simply remove the foil and wipe with a cloth, it comes up like new. Wire brush the grilles AFTER every cook while still hot/warm and before each cook if you missed anything. After a few good cooks wash the grills in hot soapy water with steel wool. Easy.

      Honestly not sure if it does, I would in=magine it would have to damage a coating when you use a wire brush on it. However Weber does recommend the wire brush. Personally I would rather avoid using it.

    I like to clean the grates with a brush right after cooking while the are still hot. Gunk comes off real easy that way. Then wash them in soapy water after they've cooled off. Saves a lot of trouble later. But that's just me. Clean the rest of it as presented a couple of times year.

    You should have taken a toothpick to each of the burner holes. That’s how to keep your Q running up to 550 degrees which is great for searing, especially with the cast iron grates.

    • @MikesManCave
      @MikesManCave  Před 4 lety +2

      Great tip.

    • @ernestpaul2484
      @ernestpaul2484 Před 4 lety +2

      I tried the toothpick deal and found it didn't clean out the burner holes well. So as not to be defeated by an inanimate object, I grabbed a large paper clip, bent it back to where I could run the one end down to where I felt the bottom of the burner pipe and used the other end as a handle. Worked like a charm, full flame and they all light at the same time. Before, when it was dirty, I had to help it along with a long butane lighter to get them all lit.

    • @LarryMFjohnson
      @LarryMFjohnson Před 4 lety +2

      @@ernestpaul2484 Right on, ya the paperclip and a little push pin also work well. I just want to see my grill above 500 degrees to get my adequate sear.

      @ernestpaul2484 Před 4 lety

      @@LarryMFjohnson The paperclip and keeping the screen clean on the end of the burner tube that connects to the regulator will keep the flame right. Mine goes to 475/500 (by the temp gauge) within or right at 10 minutes. This is also affected by outside temp and wind. Hell, I have been so determined to grill I have fired it up it in my 7x16 enclosed near the back with the ramp down in the rain.

    • @MikesManCave
