Cliff and Kirk such great players! Cliff once said if Kirk would have committed himself more to the game, he would have been world champion! And i agree!
The Memorial for Alex still makes me cry. What a loss for the game, he deserved more than 2 world titles...
Apparently, he was an absolute arseh*le and I was a fan of his.
Just gotta love Dennis...what a perfectly nice guy, great sense of humor and one heck of a player!
Jimmy White and Kirk Stevens have been two of the greatest and most genuine sportsmen to ever play the game, and they both exhibit it here. A delightful video of a delightful rematch of their famous encounter :)
And the two old guys can still shoot great, too. In fact all these old guys have obviously got some serious game left in them!
That is correct, I played Kirk and he was nice and down to earth. I'm so glad to see him sill being rewarded.
get the cocaine out
Jamie Hammond a friend of mine had a 3/4 sized snooker table in his basement in Manchester and had a three day session with Alex Higgins, Jimmy white and Kirk Stevens. Drinking and playing snooker. Kirk was the life and soul of the party apparently. Wish I'd been there!
Yes and Jimmy is my fav and I am a Canadian.
I think if Jimmy and Kirk didn't partake in the rock star lifestyle as much they would have won more tourneys.
Dennis Tayllor still knocks those long reds in like he did during the 80's, still playing really well, nice to see the Canadians here, surely legends of the game!
Mssmaimone yeah and he knocks those long doubles too many a times dreaded by most other players .
It's cos he wears these goggles, isn't it?
Well now I’ve stopped crying, all my heroes in one place. Awesome.
Holy shit i never thought Kirk would still have game. What a player!
I've no doubt that if he hadn't succumbed to addiction he'd have went on to win numerous ranking titles. Still, his performances are some of my favorite moments in snooker.
Definitely a natural.
In the middle of reading Jimmy White' book at the moment. What a life. Always used to love watching, Jimmy, Alex and Kirk back in the day. What id have given to go on a session with any or all of those three. Not sure how long id have lasted. Not so much into snooker now but when these guys were at the table the game really came alive. Brilliant stuff.
Thanks .... it was great to watch. And since I am a Canadian in Toronto it was great to see Cliff and Kirk.
Alex breathed life into snooker when he came into the game, his ending was so sad>
As an early 50 something, I loved this. Great to see the old boys and the humor was delightful.
When Ray Reardon was 84, he made a 124 break. Even at 87, he still makes the occasional Century break. It's really nice to see Kirk again. He can really pot difficult balls with power. Steve Davis retired as he was knocked out in the first round to qualify. He was 59 and lost the hunger to win. He would have been 7 times world champion if he had not missed the black against Dennis Taylor. I saw that great final and the final with Alex Higgins and Jimmy White. Jimmy came so close to clinching the title, but seemed to lack the discipline to win a frame. He was, and is, a truly great potter. I will never forget those matches.
loved Kirk Stevens when I was a kid
Me too, he was totally different to the rest with the flashy gear and rock star hair and he was an exciting player to watch; pity he got into the drugs he never fulfilled his full potential as a player IMO .

Can anyone tell me if this is true
I've been told they want coronavirus certificates to enter
The Sheffield steel boys are going to picket the venue..
Kirk learned how to play snooker at The Golden Cue in Scarborough. He never went to school (Bendale also known as Benjail) but they phoned every day to make sure he was there. When he was 14 he was running century breaks routinely. Joe was the owner and Paul worked there. Joe taught him a lot. So did Sammy who moved from Ireland to Scarborough. Kirk made a lot of money playing at the Golden Cue. Joe would back him if anyone wanted to play him for money. He once took a pool player from America for 15 thousand at the Golden Cue when he was only fourteen years old. Joe put up all the money.
It makes it all the more of a shame that he threw his talent away. He should've been a star. He and Cliff were known as "sniff and blow".
Cliff wasn't nearly as bad. I knew Cliff to talk to as he lived in Markham Canada for a long time. A good golfer and a good drinker but not too bright. My brother is a teacher and taught Cliff's kid in school. The kid wasn't too bright he took after his father.
great to see Kirk again , i shall always remember THAT session @ wembley where White Magic got the maxi and the Whirlwind played some sensational exhibition shots, much as i like JV , i wish, sometimes , he would let the game breath a little bit ....thanks for posting Snooker Legends :D
Kirk's game was much better here than I thought it would be.
Great show! Ex-pro players are still in another level when compared to amateurs!
It's interesting to see that Kirk is still as absolutely immaculate as he was in his prime.
Dennis Taylor still plays well considering he retired donkeys years ago. And his cheesy jokes are awesome! Cheesy but still funny! Top bloke!
kirk still has some cue power, great and spectacular player!
Loved to see this, and the older players come back n av fun, nice to see they still av it👍 can't top Dennis soh😆jv still as good crack n patter👍n godd bless David ,even tho all what he as been thru is had a good soh, I'd watch these clips all day 👍🤩 thank u
This is what snooker is all about. Great characters. Fantastic to see them back. Love it
Love watching the ex-pros in these kinda games, brings back memories of yesterday. I always supported the Whirlwind being a left-hander myself. He deserved to be a World Champion.
How wonderful to see Kirk playing once more !
Was lovely to see Kirk play ,👍 but have to say we all forget John Virgo is such an entertainer and always actively involved in commentary and exhibitions, so a big thanks to John also 👍👍❤️
Virgo made me cringe. Loves the sound of his own voice
@@billybonkers94 my thought's exactly mate I've always liked JV and I know this was his job....but he was going on far too much especially during shots.
The tribute song is wonderfull !!! Thank you for the respect and honour this great champion still get !!! ALEX HIGGENS THE BEST OF THE SNOOKER LEGENDS !!! L.M.
With all these 40 something's in the game doing so well.. Just look at mark Williams for instance,, would be lovely to see the great Kirk Stevens .make a come back..
Good to see Kirk still playing, made me also remember other Canadian players such as Cliff thorburn and Bill werberniuk usually with a beer in his hand RIP.
Great to see Kirk Stevens back playing snooker :)
Kirk lived down St Neots Rd in Sandy Bedfordshire UK in late 1980's.,...Had a drink with him in the Nelson pub and a couple of us went to his house and had more drinks....Seemed a normal guy....!
I love the way that they helped Mr. Rathbone against Jimmy White !!! With humor and whitout any pushing !!! I like it, why is this not possible in the whole world!!! ❤❤❤😊😊😊 L.M.
Well that was just wonderful. Ended up watching the whole vid. Warming to see such love and great banter!
Great Memorial of Alex Higgins. Top Class player, Sadly missed.
Fuck off Thomas
@@ListenToBigFace lmao
@@paxconsciente3352 What?
@@johnmc3862 I'm pretty sure I was laughing at people calling alex top class, he wouldn't even be in 128 today and he was an asshole. fun player to watch I admit
I love watching these old timers. I was knee high to a Brussels sprout when these players were in their prime lol.
Fuck off Simon
Brilliant video, thank you for uploading
Big Bill Werbeniuk was my favourite Canadian player, he made Alex sign my autograph book at the Tolly Cobbold classic .
still good watching it again and again and again, good stuff.
This was a good video but from 129;45 to 150;00 was something that really stirred up my emotions,a brilliant display of class, kindness and humbleness, and now in my happy favourites video collection god bless. Also great to see my two favourite canadian pool messiah's,Cliff Thorburn and Kirk Stevens.
I understand what you mean . The fact that Jimmy white allowed a blind person play him was beautiful . Sheer sportsmanship and love . Amazing. Need more people like this .
@@troyclayton9981 I did not know reading your comment would stir up old emotions as it is 5 years ago since i saw video, cheers Troy
But the blind man was really funny but he could of said where do I put my hand now when Makayla walked past would of been hilarious
THANKS FOR THE POST.
The video is 2 hours 6 minutes, but if they replaced Cliff Thorburn with Tony Drago, it would be only 50 minutes.
ThalesPo I agree.
+ThalesPo Look on the bright side. They could have had Eddie Charlton and Terry Griffiths which would have added at least 2 hours to this video

Loved this. I used to watch Kirk practice in Guildford Snooker Club sometimes. Amazing player.
Dennis Taylor is hilarious!
cried and larffed.. bit slow too find this channel... awsome stuff
This is why snooker went mental in the 70s and especially the 80s.....it was because we had genuine characters. There was someone for everybody to love and support. My man was Jimmy White, its him who inspired me to learn the game & a great game it is too.
Such fond memories tucking into my small single bed in the boxroom with my 14" portable tv at the end of the bed at my feet. I remember my mother letting me stay up really late to watch the final between Hendry & Williams when Hendry bottled it over the middle bag. Being a welshman i was bouncing for Williams to win it.
Those were the days. Hetty weinthrope investigates followed by the snooker. Nostalgic as heck. Loved it🥰
Never understood why Kirk didn't do the seniors. Location probably.
That and just out of practise basically... retired from main circuit long ago. He still played ok here, but notice the 'snatchy' cue action, which tends to happen when players get out of it and age. Great fun nonetheless.
they should have the shootout in this format (all the players mic'd, nonstop old man banter)
Jimmy white- what a gentleman- R.I.P David Rathbone.
amazing. thanks
If the ref’s had looked like that back in the 80’s, Kirk might have been doing most of his scoring post match 😳.
One thing you never saw at a match between these guys was an empty seat.
Lol michaelas laugh is very cool!
Kirk has some cue power!!
Brilliant
Now this is what you call an entertainment lol
KirKie Baby' 1 of theNiciesT guy's I have Ever had thePrivilege of saying is My Friend' him and Cliff are 2 of a theGreaTesT Ever'
Did you ever sniff a wee bit of the nose candy with Kirk?
A great match. 21:05 22:03 What a shot! Gotta love Virgo's banter too! Great upload
Brilliant and what good these legends do for the game 👏👏👏👏👏
Never a dull moment,a dry eye,or an empty seat, can't beat the old ones good memory's happy days, pity we couldn't freeze time eh🧐🙄,
Just great to watch this.well done kirk
Higgen's 1 of a Kind.
JIMMY WHITE
LEGEND
💗
Great to see So many Legends remember Alex a Legend RIP
Thoroughly enjoyed that. Haven’t seen Kirk play for donkeys
Kirk is back? Great to see him.
"Never mind the oohs and ash, it the 'kinells you gotta look out for!!" Lol
great to see Kirk again. great vid with virgo's humour.
I don't know why but Jimmy white reminds me of the unknown legendary hustler whom I used to prepare for and try to beat in pool video games I played all through my childhood .
John Virgo fans will recall that you have to go way back to 1979 to find the last time that he said something funny.
McElhinney65 Oh come on, he did say funny things ... like telling the blind guy that he looked away LOL!
2 of my absolute favorite players of all time and i have met them both in Brixton Snooker Center years ago Kirk and Jimmy, Jimmy grew up playing in Zanz in Tooting but played in our local often along with Tony Meo Neil Folds and many others
JV is brilliant
great vid rest in peace alex
To think Ronnie O’Sulliven could be doing these guest appearances in 20 years time
Met them both (Kirk and Cliff) at some strip mall basement in north Toronto, at the Canadian championship. Both great guys.
Omg kirk's back!!!!!
very good,
The background music at the start was fantastic. Any idea on what that is? Fantastic video by the way.
Had to switch this of. What a pain in the ass Virgo is
what is the music at the beginning please?
Kirk was absolute dynamite. Loved him and Jimmy in the 80s. Remember Kirk’s white suit? I think we’ll always remember the game’s entertainers. There’s Ronnie, obviously, but Alex was the ultimate genius. Some of his shots were not of this world.
That 147 attempt at 1980 world championship had so many skillful and tricky shots
'Got an extension for everything'... Jimmy's cheeky glance at Kirk at 30:28 lol.
great commentary from Virgo
Dennis Taylor's still good.
When it comes to recognising a player just by his bridge hand, Kirk is definitely one of those players...
What is the music in the background
The song for Alex sounded like "puff the magic dragon"
Gotta love JV too....
Is the camera quality deliberately old.
artig å se på dette.
Rest in peace David.
its good to see david take a joke after all he,s been through sadly it was all to much in the end
good match had Fun'
They certainly put on quite a bit of prorridge since 1984 ;-D
This was great really enjoyed this Alex was a character really how can he ever be forgotten never it was also nice to see Kirk I remember the 147 he mad what a green to get on the brown amazing jimmy my hero and what amazing player the best rest player even now I really feel sorry that he never won the embassy title should of Dennis was so funny as well great match with David 85 never forget him waving his finger parrot can still play a bit but never in the same league as the rest really but won the title so you have to give him credit for that cliff was a great player as well but myself I found him to boring my opinion but was amazing to watch all the characters in the game, and John Virgo was still very funny and was a great snooker player as well
1:15 Who is that in the black and white shirt? He looks so familiar.
I'm suprized that Mikaela Tabb laughed at the '69' joke; I had the impression that she was a prude.
SITH GIRL What gave you that impression?
You're wrong. She's pure filth and as nasty in the sack as you could possibly imagine
Great entertainment. RIP David.
I had an extension for the ref
I wonder if the players got somewhat pissed off with Virgo's "wisecracks". I certainly did.
what does guy in the audiance say at 1:37:41 ??
Where's the cueball going? JOHN - it was the only the second shot & you didn't say it!
John's a great commentator. Good sense of humour. Dry!
