  • A lot of newcomers to this game tend to find this locked event out of curiosity early on in their careers. Browsing through the events, just seeing what all kind of events are in the game. The last event in the professional league is just simply shown as a big "?" with a message saying "You cannot participate in this race yet" and many newcomers are left scratching their heads trying to pinpoint the reason why it's locked and what you have to do to unlock it. It was a completely foreign sight in the GT series up to this point for Polyphony to be so secretive with a particular event, especially considering they don't tell you how to unlock it, your just left to figure it out yourself.
Thankfully it's not actually that hard to unlock, just obtain all 5 main licenses in the game. Meaning B, A, IB, IA, and most importantly, S or super. Once your S license is obtained, the event is unlocked and revealed to be the Formula GT Championship. The longest 10-race championship in the game against exclusively all F1 cars with every race being atleast roughly 30 minutes long, some in particular much longer than that. The ultimate test of endurance, skill, and consistency on this game. Makes sense considering this was the first game in the GT franchise to feature F1 cars, albeit unlicensed ones though. The S license is required for the final 4 events in the professional league, including of course the Formula GT Championship.
If you go for all 5 licenses right away, you can have the event unlocked as soon as day 41 and with only 7.6% game completion. Doesn't do you any good though considering your gonna need an F1 car. Or at the very least, if your a very skilled racer, a powerful LM race car to contend for the championship. Getting all gold like I did here isn't a necessity although the prize cars you get from getting all gold on each license definitely makes going for all gold worthwhile. Furthermore the 6th license, the rally license, isn't a requirement at all for this as of course rally & tarmac racing are 2 entirely different things. Obtaining your S license also unlocks the hidden "mismatch" demo replay in the replay theater for you to view but I already did a video on this many years ago.
