When he holds up the profile picture of the 3 of them, and he's the only one left alive.. that hits hard man
Indeed. That photo says a lot without saying one word. They are all so young. May these men be at peace and their families find comfort in the time that they had with them.
Hugs to Bill...it hits him hard. Be safe boys!
Your not kidding man
đđđčđŁđŁđŁđ€đ€đ€
That would be telling me- find a new job
Nick passed too??? Oh man
" I tell you what, he was a good hand." Sad that a lot of people in this world today don't know how big of a compliment that is.
Rest In Peace Todd
agreed
making a good hand as well as finding one is something that todays people just know nothing about. people are lazy, entitled, and fucked nowâŠ.addicted to drugs and video games, mentally weak and emotionally unstableâŠ..the fundamentals of being a man is going down the fucking tubeâŠ.
thatâs why people donât understand that compliment. that 10 min clipâŠ.thatâs the only thing that stuck out to me was when he said âhe was a good handâ
thatâs a rare and special thing now days.
@@user-hw9cj2nu5f "making a good hand as well as finding one is something that todays people just know nothing about." What period of time did everyone know about finding deck hands for Alaskan crab boats?
@@user-hw9cj2nu5f In the mountains of the Blue Ridge in West Virginia, you ain't gonna find any deckhands here so I don't even know what you're talking about. So apparently we all have to be good deckhands to be a man. Got it. I'll find a goddamn boat in the fucking mountains and row like hell in a sea of coal beds crabbing for gold.
@@sjmclean0 He was a good hand can apply to any type of work. All it means was he was a damn good worker and a good person. Yall take shit to literally.
@Coolguyweed first of all you dont know how much they make and most people that work on these boats are far from underpaid and usually make bank. 2nd just because your generation is a lazy bunch that hates to work doesnt mean it isnt a compliment from someone especially from an older generation. So no it doesnt sound stupid at all especially when someone enjoys their job. but go off i guess lol
Man, Todd's obit says he was preceded in death by his parents, brother, and sister. That poor guy had a rough go. He didn't seem like a downer, though. Dude kept going. RIP.
That's what men do, we keep going.
We can sit down and cry or we can get stuff done.
Man, when it was in fact Todd, my heart broke for Bill. To lose 3 of his guys within the span of like a year is absolutely devastating.
He was only on for a couple seasons, but considering his name kept popping up he was probably well thought of as an alternate or replacement for one of the regular crew.
Bill didn't care. He cares about himself and more money.

I respect the film crews. They have jobs to record everything, but when the captain's & crew ask them to leave to process tragedy, they comply & give them the space they need. A lot of reality TV shows wouldn't do that. So props to the production folk & i'm sure it's hard for them to knowing these veterans & greenhorns that don't make it.
Discovery itself has done good with this from gold rush to deadliest catch and itâs all thanks to Phil Harris daw he was the first tv death other than steve Irwin that helped pave the way for tv shows to handle these situations
If the captain says stop you stop. At sea captain is boss over everything.
They are there to film not get in the way so they respect the wishes to not film when asked. Plus they are living on the boat just like the crew so on theory the camera crew are part of the team. They eat sleep and work just as hard.
Yea I was watching "Alaskan Bush People" the other day and it was the episode where Billy died. The film crew was just watching them have breakdowns.
@@offtheradar5767 omg thats so disrespectful. A Tv show isn't everything.
As an offshore fisherman myself, I can honestly say, there's nothing harder than these moments. I'm the only one of my original crew still on the water, most have passed on, and it never gets easier.
đ
đ
â€ïžđâïž
I donât miss hearing about Dutch Harbor, my husband worked as an offshore fisherman out there. Sometimes as long as 6 moths straight of being out on the water. It is very hard. Props to any man or woman working out there and making a living like this. Last years fishing was rough the are not lying about that.
My sympathies. But I have 2 questions. 1) How do you deal with so much grief? 2) How do you deal with the whole that could be me? (I'm guessing that this is a reminder of your own mortality).
RIP Todd. Bill has a hard shell, but you can tell that one the inside heÂŽs got a sweet heart. You can really see how sad he gets over these losses, especially Nick who was like a son to him.
Loosing 3 in about 7 months would hit hard on everyone... They get so close to eachother when they work on those boats. Rest easy Todd â„ïž
@@toneolsen6861 learn how to spell "lose" the proper way dude. haha

@@ForrestGump1212 "Losing"
I think it is interesting to see that it really has effected him. I am sure like you said, in his mind, Nick was his son, he gave up his relationship with his son because of Nick.
I never knew Todd, but if you can make a bunch of grown men cry...that tells me you were a good person.
This show is so tough man, you really get attached to these guys and want to see them all succeed and make it back to port safe.. and alive. Iâm still not over the loss of Captain Phil, and these never get any easier.
That oneâđ»I can never watch it the same after Phil. I was so happy when they came out with Bloodline and Josh got to follow some of his dads maps.
I cried like a baby when Phil past away. To this day I hear his song for his boat and I get chills. Even as just a fan of the show it's hard to watch and hear of their passing. RIP Tod!
My heart sank with they had the coast guard stand down.
NEVER a good sign.
I knew already what it meant, and yet when I heard it I still said, âI hope that doesnât mean what I think it meansâŠâ The truth is that you just donât wanna believe it-you just wanna somehow be able to have the outcome change for the better. Rest easy, Todd. đđ»â„ïž
I was a paramedic for 20+ years. Stand down means EXACTLY what you immediately think it does. No other reason. RIP.
Condolences to the sailor, the crew, friends, and his family.
Amen to that!
his name IS TOD
I can't even imagine the amount of pain Todd must have felt before succumbing to his injuries. I know it's super late but my prayers go out to his family and friends
The saddest part is the crew he was with had to watch him literally die slowly and couldn't do anything to help. They said he said he was in extreme pain so he was alive for how ever long. Such a sad and horrible way to go. I feel so bad for this guy.
I love the brotherhood amongst them all. Jake saying he doesnât know if he could fish again if he lost one of his crew hits hard. These guys can fight and are rough on each other but they love each other like family.
Itâs hard on the captain of the fishing vessel Patricia Lee! To lose any of your crew is devastating đŠ
The captain has responsibility for the ship, crew and any equipment.
I have a friend, who stepped down from captain to second hand. Because of the pressure and sailing in the North Sea

Man I haven't seen this show in 7-8 years....didn't know it was still on....man such going memories back in the day. All the guys look so much older, glad it's still running.
What about Todd buddy Iâll do it for u RIP Todd
Same here. Kinda nice catching up with these guys.
After watching "The Perfect Storm", I have a much greater respect for fishermen and their families. R.I.P
Every time I watch that movie, and Iâve seen it many many times, I still cry like a baby. But your so right that my respect has gone way up for these guys. I enjoy my crab when I eat them. Iâve noticed I get crab legs way more then I used to lately because I want to try to support these guys someway.

When the stand down came over the radio my heart sank.
RIP Todd. Love to those who knew him.
When I was in the military I did maintenance at locations up to 200 miles away from the base everyday here in the U.S., and we'd sometimes get BOLOs for missing kids in the area we were driving/working in. The worse time was always getting the radio call for the canceling of the BOLO and then waiting for the response when we called back as to the reason why it was canceled (always was the kid was found somehow, but we were essentially asking if the kid was found alive (no matter the condition) or ....otherwise, without asking if the kid was alive over the radio). Usually the kid was okay (sometimes were told going to the hospital for checkout, but okay), but then there were those few other calls...
as chopper pilot I got so much respect for these guys and the coast guard
Such a humbling line of workâŠI have nothing but respect for these guys.
How did Todd die?
Man the summer bay crew has had more than anyone should have to take. My heart truly goes out to especially Landon and Bill.
I cried when this first aired on tv. He was such a likable guy. R.I. P. Todd.
Miss the voice of mike Rowe . These guys are legendary for this way to make a living .
I think its because this is the UK broadcast? I've heard Mike Rowe this season, I'm sure of it.
He's still doing it, this is just the UK broadcast luckily. Wouldn't be right without Mike haha.
Mike still does voice Deadliest catch. They get different Narrators for other countries.Mike works for the good old USA Branch of Discovery, which is why you won't hear him in UK. He's kind of an exclusive.

My father was stationed at Dutch Harbor during the War. He was a flight engineer on a Catalina. Early June of 1942, his Cat was searching for the Japanese Fleet headed for Midway. They received word that Dutch Harbor was getting the duck bombed out of it. The Cats were ordered not to return. They were all on their own. Dad's crew voted to keep searching for the Japanese, even though they knew it meant ditching in the ocean. The very cold North Pacific. As they ran out of fuel, they radioed their final position. Being a sea plane, the Catalina landed on the water. However, it quickly foundered in the rough seas. All made it into a life raft. Three days later, fishermen from Dutch Harbor saved them. They all spent time in the hospital due to hypothermia. But when he got out, Dad got 30 Day's Survivor Leave. He went home and married Mom. What a generation. All thanks to the fishermen from Dutch Harbor. Thanks guys.

I had that same thought. As a rescue team, I would think on some level you never want to be called, never want to be needed, cause that means no one's getting hurt.
I would also think that once called, "Stand Down" is the last thing you want to be told, because it means you're not needed anymore...

I know exactly how this Feels. Through High School I lost 6 friends all within months of eachother some through normal accidents others through freak accidents and each time it seemed harder and harder I felt like a walking storm cloud. But through my family and friends I found the strength to keep my head held high and keep on grinding. Each year I celebrate the memories I had with my brothers all the fine times staying up late playing cards and gaming. So remind yourself of the fond memories you got to have with each and everyone and keep those you still have ever closer dont waste our lives family and friends are all we really have in this world not the items not the money! Love you Guys.

I know exactly what you both mean and going/went through. My sincerest condolences for your losses. It never gets easier and seems to take longer just to get back to okay after each one. You nailed it all square on the head. We gotta keep putting one foot in front of the other, and keep breathing & telling the stories of those not around to do so anymore. Most people dont experience so many losses, especially when many occur so close to each other. To say "I know what you mean, I know what you are going through/went through" is something only someone who truly has been through it. I have laid to rest at least 6 in the last 10 years.
