Judging by the viz, this was in the Red Sea, where spearfishing is banned, but not strictly imposed.. Probably not in Egypt, their ocean is too depleted.. I don't think it's in Saudi or Yemen.. My guess, either Sudan, Djibouti or Eritrea.. I'd say Djibouti..

Great video, love the water clarity. You have total respect for the ocean and all it's inhabitants. I have seen too many videos of guys harassing turtles, rays, eels while spearfishing. Question, why did you not take one of the large groupers? Are they considered breeding age?
+tslazoo thanks for the comment. We don't like to shoot long lived, sedentary & overfished animals such as big old groupers, besides the other smaller species such as the coral trouts taste even better.

I was like why kill all those fish including fish that even the locals(am Kenyan from the coast) don't eat..He even killed a zebra fish!! He was like in a hunting spree spearfishing any sizable fish he lays his sight for fun. This is so annoying. I admire spearfishing but its because of such people regulations should be put in place worldwide!
@@salimalmahry Yeah it's true, I also think killing the "harmless" fish, which are almost eating from your hand is bullshit, it' s just unfair … I also used to go spear fishing (Italy, Europe) but I was always looking for the predators, the strong and fast ones, they even taste much better … anyway the underwater scenery at the coast of your country is fantastic … seems to be an intact ecosystem … at least up to when the Video was made … I'd really love to go there ...
@@gabriel-gr4cv you're most welcome..a huge chunk of coastal kenya is marine reserve especially within few KMs(i think 10) of the coastline eg Mombasa marine park, watamu, malindi, wasini, kisite mpunguti etc But there are also many other sites that are open and free for fishing like shimoni, Kilifi, takaungu, lamu among others.

That was some sweet shot placement, them snappers just keeled right over. Them fish obviously not under any fishing pressure, they let you come real close and take good aim. Those jobfish look extremely tasty for some reason, are they?

Tristan Swart our search and scout operation consisted of a dozen people. Everyone took fish for them and their families to eat for weeks. Not a single fish was wasted.

What was the point of shooting the fish twice on 2:10???
the final one brained it to kill it. Most spearos kill their fish as quick as possible by stabbing their brain. With smaller fish, guys will often use a knife, but with a fish that big its more effective to use another spear.
Or if the fish wiggles,,,shark gona get em BoY...nemo gotta keep ass down. :-p
is there any reason you aim body of fish? I've never spearfish so I really don't know. think easier to spear the head part so fish would be get stunned and not run away.
A lot of the shots were to the head (the fish usually shake as though they are having a seizure or barley move), but its not as easy as it my look. Between the fight to stay calm, even through the temptation to exhale due to building CO2 in your body, and trying to stay still to not spook the fish, it can be quite difficult to even get near a fish. Then add in the lack of hydrodynamacy of most guns and its pretty hard to hit your mark exactly, especially at a distance or with a moving fish. But when you do hit your mark, even if its just the body its sooo rewarding. And even the thrill of the hunt and just swimming to those depths is an amazing rush.

Those areas probably see so few spearos, and defintely very few fisherman that'll be targeting the reef species. Their populations won't even be dented by this. And if the fish is all being taken back to feed the locals, it isn't going to waste.
I feel sure the locals would of been happy when they were given those fish and I'm sure they got them.
