One of the most Australian videos I've ever seen
Oink pink answer me this. What other national would jump in the shark infested waters to swim directly at a black marlin??
What’s scary is looking down just to see an almost endless void.
Even better is night diving. Jump in with your light off and sink in darkness til your back hits the bottom.
The fact that you even spotted the marlin when 3 sharks were around you is amazing, seeing it at normal speed is just unbelievable!
"There were 3 sharks coming at me ,i thought it would be great footage so i pulled out my camera"
Croikies mate, it’s a fackin maalin
@6:25 Fish turns "vibrant blue" with stone shot. Amazing. Thanks for the footage.

Wow! Great hunt! The colour change when you stoned it was incredible! So great that you were able to process and use so much of the fish. That’s what hunting should be about.
It looks so amazing! If this would be in a video game people would think that's just a stupid CGI effect^^
I love that story so much, giving to families in your area, what a blessing and bravery all around. Thank you for sharing this special moment in time.
That marlin changing colors upon its death was one of the coolest things I've see
@@mikezog1030 there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of marlins in the ocean. and your worried about the death one 1?
Not sure how this got in my recommended, but damn brother, respect. I bet that was one hell of an adrenaline rush!
"I bet that was one hell of an adrenaline rush!" But not for the marlin...one minute the marlin is just swimming along minding his own business, the next he's got spears being shot into him so some guy can post a heroic video of himself on CZcams killing a defenseless fish...Sad.
MatterFlight oh no he killed a fish so he could eat it so awful. But if a shark was to eat that marlin it would just be nature right?
Im still in shock how the marling change colors like that that was dope
Amazing accomplishment Tim. It is incredible that without a float, the beastie didn’t come unbuttoned or that the line didn’t break, towing you as he did. Congratulations.
Tim your one lucky man, not only too live in such a beautiful country but also too catch that monster of a fish, I wish I had the money to fly out too your part of the World as I live in a rainy cold part of the North in the UK, but to share such a fish with Friends and Neighbours was a very kind gesture and I applaud you and your Mates. Plus great Vid Tim and once again people like you are needed in this cruel bitter World. Keep up the excellent work and g,day from a little village called Alsager in the UK about 80 miles from the Sea.
If this wasn’t filmed I would never have believed it. Awesome. How to escape 3 sharks...plug a marlin and let it tow you out of there.
Yo one of the most enjoyable spearfishing vids I've seen props man that was awesome
My dad caught a 200kg marlin with a reel, it took him 9 hours to reel it in
Rayaan Farhath my Uncle caught a 864lb blue Marin and it took 8 hours he had to stay on the reel the whole time for the fish to count in the tournament
my dad caught a 10000 kg marlin and he caught it by hand, took him about 5 minutes
My heart rate increased just WATCHING this video. I can’t imagine what yours was doing!
7:39 where did u get the audio of my wife moaning from?
Everyone has that audio.. recorded personally by everyone who has it breh.. she bad!
People: "You know there's gang of sharks around right?"
Crazy Aussies: "What sharks?"
Well done mate, the sharks alone would have seen me goners... bugger the marlin. An awesome catch and story of adventure!
That blue was amazing! I hope none of that beautiful animal was wasted. Congrats man.
Most people don’t eat marlin because of poor taste paired with High mercury levels. Usually only a trophy fish
@@ottomcvey995 what a shame. don't kill it if you're not going to eat it
So the marlin was just passing by, minding his own business, when he saw the bunch of thugs harassing this gentleman for no reason. He deiced to intervene and scare them sharks away. For that he got killed and eaten.
So much for being a good Samaritan in this society....
@@OKOK-hm2is you will often find that marlin and sharks congregate in the same patch of water for the same food source. The marlin wasn’t fending off the sharks, nor were the sharks getting in the way of the marlin. As a sportfishing skipper, I see this all the time. Maybe educate yourself a bit more first before commenting stupid shit in future.
@@OKOK-hm2is and they should lmfao, after all... humans don't belong in the ocean naturally, the ocean is the sharks home, so if you get eaten by a shark or bit by a shark dont bitch about it, YOU ARE IN THEIR HOOD. remember that. (most people who get bit by sharks often have no anger towards the shark at all because they understand that is a risk that you take when you go into an area of ocean that has sharks living in an abundance)
Holy cow this is super duper awesomeness! I'm glad there are people out in the world living, filming, and sharing this adventure with us all! Just wild, the ocean, sharks, Marlin, being dragged 😳 and hearing the excitement in the guys voice.
when you shot that fish and it turn the light blue it turned from the most amazing thing I've ever seen two really feeling like that was some spiritual stuff. I've never had so much amazement rush over me followed by so much sadness
Celebrates with blood in the water...in Australia at that.👀 You sirs have gargantuan balls!!!
the merlins came to help the man fighting the shark , the merlins didnt know the men paid the shark . edit : the S has been added 1 years later
Nice one Tim, this was a pleasure to watch and good story telling too.
You the man once in a lifetime and when the opportunity came you took advantage of it and took him great shot and fight💪
Once in a lifetime.. people have zero appreciation how absolutely insanely difficult this is. I've been blue water spearing for years and u may never ever see a fish like this. Fun part is hunting.. cleaning that damn thing and finding people to eat it is the hard part.
As I say they are incredibly rare and not much is known, wish they were protected tho because chances are they probably have a low population and are probably highly endangered. Hope one day they become slightly more abundant as this would be an awesome fish to fight (on reel for me I don’t like spear fishing I know it’s hard but it gives the diver an unfair advantage and I personally don’t like targeted fishing) the record is I think over 1600lbs this was actually a small Black Marlin
Omar Hernandez it’s fantastic, just a lot of meat. I don’t shoot big fish for that purpose.. the little ones taste so much better. Hard to come back from vacation with 200lbs of meat.
Tyler Melendez-Duke if you free dive in a 1000ft of water miles from shore...u are a little out of your human element. Advantage? Heck he was outweighed and the fish had a bigger spear.. not only is long line or drag net fishing have horrible loads of by catch, I see every fish I eat first.. if u have never been in the water, tough to have a solid opinion. Like I said earlier.. the hunt or just being in the water is the enjoyable part. No true spear man goes just for the kill.. if u try to hard you will never see a fish.
SONG = Neon Indian Sleep Paralysist
Thumbs up for great vid and soundtrack !!
Incredible footage! Congrats on an amazing fish. What a memory.
Great job brother what a great tale and to have the video to share with your grandchildren later in your lifetime is awesome
Great job on the video and that colour change from your second spear was awesome! marlin are good eating too!
I could swim with sharks no problem, but I don't think I could ever bring myself to charge a large spearfish like that head on. Absolutely immense discipline, watching it happen in real time is actually nuts because of how quickly you had to process what you saw and make the decision to go right for it. Absolute nerves of steel
Best part of this video..that you share the fish with your neighbours, community and your local church..reminds me of home..good on ya mate
Truly one of the most epic things I’ve ever seen in spearfishing. I love it when you hit the Stone shot and he changes to the vibrant blue. Nice one🤙
is there a name for this? It was wild! I am curious why it happens
epic....colour changes are beautiful
Hail-Recoil Not completely sure, most likely the cutoff of blood flow causes a chemical reaction that makes it so that. Most dolphins, mahi mahi, and marlin do that when they are killed.
@J J nope, those sudden changes on colors it all neurological activity! Same with urination or defecation (most common on animals) after death, in the event of brain damage.
I believe the fish didnt make it to New Zealand
I appreciate the humbleness and humility for such an adventure.
One of the most badass videos I’ve ever seen. Awesome video mate!
Man u guys have got some big balls.u essentially just created a 100kg berley bomb in shark infested waters nice vid bro
noss ni666a if only a shark ate his ass just to remind him sometimes wild animals are great hunters too.
6:27 someone explain please
Wow I just only seen this for the first time now! What an awesome fish man! Congrats
the way it went vibrant blue is insane. literally slayed a boss.
that's trippy as when you get the kill shot and it turns blue.. lol shows how much I know about fishing :P
Why is this in my recommended? I don’t know. Did I enjoy it? Yes
Wow, mad respect for this dude... This looks fun and simultaneously extremely terrifying!
That was so cool how it changed color as you shot the 3rd spear.
Such great info about the fishes natural behaviour
That poor fish must have suffered so much before it died...
It did! died so slow An painful it looked the man in the face An asked him why are you killing me cuz you know fish have feelings to lol 😂
Good job Santiago ... Manolin will be proud!
The biggest fish I had caught as a former fish diver was less than 30 kg .This is amazing .Congratulations mate !
every wonder why? because ego trophy hunting has wiped out the largest and the most successful population of the many species around the world.
It's seldom that a song choice works well with the edit and here it surely did. Great capture mate.
Seeing humans take part in the hunt acting purely on instinct sharing the space with such amazing creatures as god intended really makes me happy to see, i bet that marlin was delicious hope you guys got to enjoy it sashimi style, good on you for keeping your composure in there ... you've showed true grit and came out on top, fortune favors the brave and what a wild ride that must have been.
This is a perfect example of not letting fear dissuade you from your goal. He wasn't there for the sharks.
7:30 Rick Flair drippin down under.
In one way its sad in another its probably a life goal
I guess if you get in the water with it face to face and fight sharks you deserve to take 1 Marlin once in a while.. I don't think taking one like that is going to hurt the population very much, I have a buddy who says they eat them in Mexico all the time and he has tried it and said it was great!
@@littleboyproductions471 yeah me too, I don't get to travel very often but I own a boat and I can fish many days, so I'm the luckiest man in world I think!! Hoping to go really small hook and line permit so I can fish and sell it next year. ( I mean really small, 17' boat.) We catch lots of salmon, halibut, rockfish, black cod, albacore tuna ECT. Someone caught a striped Marlin a few years back, and last year a few bluefin we're caught up to 110lbs but it's 63degree tuna water here at the warmer end.
@@littleboyproductions471 it's always a line of respect and sustainability I get that for sure!
I understand it must be breathtaking to hunt a black marlin. But why hunt threatened species of fish? Leave the threatened species alone. I Hunt myself and i would never ever kill an animal that is threatened :) They will probably go extinct if people keep hunting them
CZcams recommending this to me means this channel is going from 3.5k to 10k very quickly
Unbelievable what some people do in this world. I couldn’t imagine the panic that would set in if I see sharks coming at me
Can someone tell me why it turned bright blue when it died
marlin and dolphin, mahi mahi, turn a bright blue upon death. it could be a chemical reaction triggered by loss of blood flow? not sure.
Thank the sharks for that bountiful blessing.
that was pretty hectic, you handled it it like a pro
Amazing creature. I am a fisherman as well. But when they are this big and the hunt is just for a trophy I’d say let it be and let the animal live.
Good job! When I hunt or fish I also share with the Church as well as friends and family. Sometimes I have opportunities to feed the homeless. God bless you. Love from California.
What caused the marlin to change color after the last spear? Song name? Thanks
Awesome! Catch of a lifetime. Well done!
How good is it being alive now. Back in the day, that would have been a tall story you heard from some bloke in the pub. Today it's like we're swimming beside you.
Great visual storytelling.
3 sharks and 100+ kg target... that's what I call fishing!
That color change was insane
I’m not sure if you’ll ever see this coment Tim but I’ve watched your vid 100000 times & dreamt of shooting my own marlin,
I recently joined the club mate & im over the moon, very inspired by your vid, congrats😁😎
What an experience, that's a tale that will live for generations. Cheers man
Song please?
This is the best video Ive seen all year. the balls of this guy. unbeilievable
To see that fish flash was insane! Awesome Job!
Awesome experience!!! And can happen anytime!!! Of course, this one can be as good as it gets!! Well done guys!!!
Nah, this black marlin is way too young, adults should be around 500-700 kg
I’m curious, why did they shoot a marlin? For a trophy?
ItchyPilauBoto808 that’s why I asked I didn’t know. I didn’t watch the start, I skipped it to the spearfishing
@ItchyPilauBoto808 It's actually not good eating. It's extremely toxic due to mercury contamination. All big game fish are.
Diego Smith did you really just say that all big game fish are extremely toxic?
I've been spearfishing my whole life, you are the man! Great Job
How did he know the sharks weren't gonna chase him? Wouldn't they be more interested because he's swimming away from them?
@@andrewrossnagel9433 why would the sharks chase him? I don’t understand your question.
@@73gmiller because it seemed they were before. I don't spend any time in the water so it seemed interesting that after he speared the fish he never looked back at the sharks who were just circling him a few seconds before
@@andrewrossnagel9433 o ok. Well as a spear-fishermen sharks are always near because they want your fish. They may come at you because they are curious but you just have to show them who’s boss. Push them off with your gun. You want to respect them but never fear them. I would be more afraid of a dog that came up to me on a walk .
Nice, as long as they aren't wasted. I've shot three large sharks and they were all consumed. Great marlin, congrats!
Yo that shit was dangerous asf. Magnificent scene. Well done mate
Damn that was some Crazy stuff but cool congrats on that big one
Everyone was so happy. Bonding with friends is the best
adrenalina a tope!!!!!
You got big balls dude, pretty exhilerating, but seems dangerous with all the sharks..hats off to you mate.
You are a great person Tim . Love you 🙏🏽
you killed a one of the few remaining successful specimens of a dwindling species to satisfy your EGO and bragging right. And I am small person so admire you. Shame !!!
love the music so magicaaaal :D
Great white sharks for days you'd never catch me doing that hahah
@@hardmcshaft5665 I know I'm saying off the coast of New Zealand there are tons of great whites which get much much larger than the ones in the video lol
Emily Miller he didn’t say those where white sharks b... he’s saying that area hold many great whites just like the waters off of Northern California. That’s why I don’t swim in the ocean
That colour change was amazing.
Wow that's and epic story of sharing your catch.. such a blessing...
Great vid.
Absolutely epic mate👌 amazing how you forget about the danger you could be in when the adrenaline kicks in!!
Absolutely incredible ! 🤙🏽
6:29 - that's crazy! can anybody explain the color change to me?
i think its cause when he shot it , it moved away from its pool of blood, revealing its color
Sashimi! Would be so action
Wow! What an incredible video! Great great footage.
