  • Apatani tribe of Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh, India is deeply connected with the nature. In olden days, agricultural activities were an integral part of their daily life round the year. So, was their way of living and believe systems which was synchronized with the habitat and vegetation.
They believe in positive energies of elements, nature, the various energized spirits; the air, water, hill, vegetations, Earth, Sun, Moon etc.
Since, their life's' mainstay is wet paddy cultivation, so they have many community rituals related to agriculture. e.g.
#Before starting the next cultivation, the Earth is propitiated by Chandii ritual.
#when they sow seeds, Myokum ritual is performed.
#After transplantation of Paddy Sapling, Dree Festival is celebrated wherein three ritual Metii-Tamu, Meder, and Danyi is performed to ward off the pests and microbes from harming the saplings and to ensure bumper harvest.
When the paddy starts to ripe, "Yapung-Korlang" ritual is performed to ward off the Hail-storms from damaging the Paddy.
Besides these, when the paddy is infected and growth is hampered, the concerned paddy field owners, after confirming omen through eggs performs "Aji Pahi" ritual, wherein the Danyi( Sun),Harnyang, the terrestrial Agriculture deity and Meder, the God of purification is propitiated. This video is performance of such Aji pahi ritual conducted at my Bolya Paddy Field on 3.7.23 in Hari Village.

Hmm ss...but it is so easy for others to learn. Evidently, there many outsider and neighbouring Tribes who speak apatani language more fluent than some of our apatani youths only after staying at Ziro for around 1/2 to one year. 😊😊😊
