    Your video was very helpful. Ive never removed a Governor. I watch your video for about 2 hours while at the same time doing the same thing on my new motor. Came out nice. Best video out for Governor removal. Now we need some videos of stage 3 upgrades. Billet Piston , rod, and stuff.

    So I just need help understanding the point of removing the governor from inside the crankcase rather than just disconnecting the governor linkage on the outside wouldn't that be easier I don't know

    • @Ja-fh8io
      @Ja-fh8io Před 2 lety +2

      It can break off in the motor and that means bye bye motor

    • @trevinskiking2165

      Reiterating it's the internal governer parts that might shatter at high revs, more than they were designed & with the internal plastic flimsy gear wheel their is also some metal clips & circlips the crankcase doesn't want those parts floating in the oil: as it's a "Splash & dip" oiling system engine the conrod is used as the big end bearing & unless you've fitted it with an alloy type aftermarket Conrod with changeable bearing shells, your taking a big risk if a bit of plastic goes through your Conrods & piston skirt oiling system.One exception: some of the Honda engines come with an oil pump & pressurized oiling system, much like your car, it was sort of successful with the 1930s & 40s Stovebolt chevs but they still had a form of oil pressure system spraying oil at the Conrods.

      Disconnecting the governor externally works about 60% because the governor still activates at around 5000rpm but fully removing it brings it to about 6800rpm externally you won’t have to worry about internal issues if you fully remove it you gonna want to get performance parts

    Do you have to remove the governor internally or can you get away with just removing the external arm/linkage??

    • @mardyfullthrottle

      You can just remove the arm

      @mardyfullthrottle here's another question for you. I installed my brand new predator 224, add a curved intake, genuine vm22 mikuni carb, and a straight pipe, but my bike seems to be just as slow as the stock 196 engine the bike cam with. Any suggestions?

    • @nativeson3233
      @nativeson3233 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@troy22ndYou need to adjust the gearing bro. Right now look at how many teeth you have on your clutch sproket VS teeth on the drive sprocket (the sproket on the rear wheel). Ive got a coleman cc100x with a Predator 224. Im running a 12 tooth clutch (3/4 inch bore hole) and the stock 75 tooth rear sproket. Gov bypassed, regular carb with intake n valve cover breather, header pipe n muffler, mobile 1 full synthetic 10w30 and Im hitting 40-42 mph. I weigh 180 and I always have my "in case I break down" tools in my back pack which is another 18lbs.

      The part inside the engine is the reason to remove it so no, you're still in the same boat as leaving it in there as far as having to worry about it breaking.

      Bradley...the stock plastic cam is not as junky sounding as it sounds: for a reliable mildly souped of stock engine they are actually ok, with stock lightweight valvesprings & 18 pounds on the seat you'll be fine...one model of Chev used a part plastic/powdered iron composite Conrods & they held together fine...don't worry about a plastic camshaft until you get into serious mods...a stg one kit/carb change & removed muffler with a maybe milled head with the Governer still hooked up...you'll be fine, don't over rev it( it's an industrial engine) & choose a single weight 4 stroke MX oil like Lucas or 4 stroke made for MX,, make sure it has Zinc & phosphate & other antiwear additives in it.Steer clear of the take-home multiweight oils from Walmart etc....their made for modern roller cammed friction free engines Cheers from New Zealand.

It's know as a 7hp elsewhere .Cheers from New Zealand.Mardy in case you or others wanted to know I can still source 79cc & 212cc predator parts & probably get them dropshipped even direct from the Chinese factory to people in USA...much more than Harbour Freight carries !
