      Of course they would, unless they were born with mental issues. Usually the nurture provided throughout early life is key to human development. If the nurture isn't there, neither is the sympathy. I'd be more scared of a serial killer who actually had a great life but became a murderer instead then anyone of these killers mentioned.

She had to do some awful things just to take care of her siblings after being kicked out at such a young age. That was pretty sh!tty of yall. Just like your video of "Ugly Ducking" celebrities - I'd love to see what the people who come up with the ideas really look like.

    As humans, we're constantly looking for a reason for people's actions. You'll get tidbits here and there and develop your theories but you're never gonna really know why they chose one decision over the other. Why their mind went down that path, when others with the same childhood, did not. If their upbringing was better, would they have turned out the same or a monster of a different kind? The 'Nature vs Nuture' is really cool to contemplate.

      David Taylor There are limits to the human psyche. The limits vary from person to person and developmental phase to developmental phase. While there are certainly ways one can combat such a decline, it is usually by first recognizing the danger and taking precautions. For one reason or another, people miss these steps. Yes, they are responsible for their actions because it was their act, but people trully are more than just a will in a body. As much as we want to deny that and say we can choose our destiny, there are factors we cannot choose as well. Some of these factors have such a profound effect upon certain personalities and states of mind that the universe favors their demise over thier healing. Finally, I generally agree that people find excuses more often than not. As a teacher at heart, I hold on to that belief that any student could learn anything if they really wanted. The reality is, however, that for some students, such a feat would require so much internal focus and will, they would essentially have to become an ascetic, change their identity, diet, lifestyle, priorities, etc. It then becomes clear that it makes little sense for these students to fully learn. My job as a teacher at heart is not to judge but always provide an opportunity. To that end, we must not write these depolarables off so easily as victims of their own lack of will. We have a responsibility - or we should, rather - to heal the broken bits of our society to make these happenings become less likely to ever happen again. (We must also simultaneously fight against our own tendency to make excuses, despite any unfortunate circumstances we have experienced. If we are able to see our own faults, if we have the power to choose and examine, WE have no excuses. In essence, we only know for certain that our own selves have no excuse - we know the wrong. Furthermore, it is our responsibility as those who can see to help those who are clearly blind, as much as it is possible. But, I stress that we can never know what possible effect we can have on another. We can only strive to be a positive influence. The greater our light, the lesser the darkness. This is the takeaway.)

      In a lot of cases I agree with you, but Aileen's childhood was so messed up. Her grandfather literally made her watch as he drowned her pets in front of her, and made her eat out of the trash. She had to sleep in abandoned cars in the forest and was continually sexually, physically, and psychologically abused throughout her life. Sometimes people just become so far gone and then snap.

  • @jdands8388
    @jdands8388 Před 5 lety +6

    Just putting it out there, not all abused people become killers and psychopaths. I didn't. Yes, what these people went through is horrific to say the least, but the mere fact that they copied the nightmares they suffered takes all sympathy I have for them, and renders it obsolete.
    At 11 years old, my step-mum poured freshly boiled water down my back as punishment for breaking a plate. I would never do that to anyone, even if they deserved it or worse. You think a burn from a spilt drink is bad, think again. Hot water is one of the worst pains any person, let alone a child could ever feel. It starts off deceptively cold, but a second later, there is nothing but gutwrenching pain, and trying to cool it down only makes the pain worse.
    In case there are a few messed up comments to follow this, I'd like to add that I'm not writing this for sympathy, I don't want or need it. I'm merely making a point. These people suffered, yes, but they chose to become what they fear the most. They chose to become that hate and anger. They chose...to kill. I took my hate, anger, pain and fear, and I used it as a "What-not-to-do for dummies".

    I agree with you on these serial killers. However, the abuse which Ailean Wornose suffered during her childhood was far worse than what you described. AiIean was not only selling herself for drugs but for food and alcohol. She was very close to her brother, and she was since early childhood was sexually active with him. When she was 16, she fell pregnant. The father of the child was suspected to be her grandfather. As soon as he found out that she was pregnant he threw her onto the streets. She lived in the woods and eating at friends houses during this time, and when she had the baby, she gave it up for adoption. She then hitchhiked her way to Florida. Well you know the rest of her tragic story.
