That's the problem I ran into after installing the side seals in addition to a new bottom seal. Thanks for the quick and simple solution!

A solution we use here in Hawaii is cut a 15"-18" piece of black pipe foam sleeves, cut it in half length wise and slip it into the ends of the astragal. This allows the astragl to hold its shape but collapses when door is fully closed. Great for sealing the door on uneven concrete. Also allows the seal confrom to surface irregularities.

Ive always wondered how many people get mice or bugs that make home inside the bulb seal because theyre always open on the ends.. i shoved some 1” foam backer rod inside mine the whole length and seals better than any seal on the market.. besides the 500$ one that snaps into the threshold...

Is the backer rod foam closed cell or open? I need to do this to my garage but not sure if I should get open cell or closed? I think maybe close but not sure? I have gotten mice and they ate my wires in my car cost a lot of money to fix...

Thinking of doing the same, adding a cush to the door seal

Simple hack that works. The critics here havnt offered another solution or even specified how the "new gap" is created, it isn't. Nice work around

3/4” backer rod (cylindrical) would do the trick

What kind of drill bit or screw did you use ? I have galvanized steel door retainer that needs to go through . I have tried but didn't go through the retainer with rubber seal .

Use 5/16 self tapping sheet metal screws

What if my new seal keeps coming out of tracks? What is wrong?

    ❌ WRONG !!!
And your a garage door company?
    Would never higher you 😂
✅ CORRECT WAY: almost all garage door seals are round and hallow. If your seal goes flat or is unevenly sealing to concrete and has gaps and you want to increase threshold… Take and cut large diameter garden hose and feed it inside the hallow seal and trim edges. You can also purchase a hose 1/4” diameter smaller then the seal for even tighter fit. Now your door has a better even seal 👍🏻

Great, you just ruined the seal and created another outside gap for mice to enter the house.

Right, just shoving whatever in the end could fix this. Ball up some pantyhose from the dollar store even lol my first thought was to use a hair dryer to bend shape back. Better done in the warmer months though.
