    I don't know if you realize how valuable the information that you are sharing is .
    I'm 60 years old now and I have been knowing how to make cast Nets since I was 20 years old. And I've always wanted to learn how to make hoop Nets. And I'd like to thank you personally for sharing your knowledge in making hoop Nets .
    It's like cast net making it's a dying art.
    Once again I would like to personally thank you for sharing your knowledge

    Ok you get the most brownie points on CZcams.
    I can’t believe you fit in that net.
    I showed it to my wife and now she understands how the net works.
    I went on my first net run of the year today and catch was sparse but enough for supper.

      Lol, glad I could help her understand, lol. Fish are deep right now. We are tearing the channel cats up right now in the lake right in middle of the creek channels. It's gonna pick up as it warms up. Set you nets right now to the deeper edge of your anchor ropes. On the throats they work if they are built right. That one I'd liked to had the front flew a bit wider at opening, but we will see. Catch flew was exactly what I wanted. I think it's gonna tear up the 5-15 lb opps

    Just ran across your site last night. Really enjoy it. I used to tie most of my own nets. I have to say, you must have a very understanding wife. If my wife came home and found me repairing a tarred net in her living room she would have skinned me. Keep up the good work!

      Thanks for watching. I have sewn whole nets by hand and used commercial webbing, but I have never cut and tapered. Not knocking it at all, I've just never done it. I have bought a lot of nets due to my lack of time to build, but I plan on going back to making my own. I enjoy it, just life's busy. Lots of different ways to skin a Cat!!!

    How do you figure the number of mesh or lenth of the first and second flews I'm going to use 7 36 inch hoops and 11/2 mesh just don't know how to figure the lenth on the flews like the videos keep em coming

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  Před 11 měsíci +1

      No certain length. Probably 5-6 mesh on front and 9-12 on second. Maybe more, Depends on how much you want your throat closed in. I usually go off my other net patterns. If you don't have any, then trial and error. I'm not home or id count one of mine for you. I figure this winter we may do a 1.5" x 36in hoop net build on video. It's a common size for many people

      If you contact Nets and More they can give you a pattern for whatever size net you want to build. I usually modify them to my own type and style, but I have gotten good ideas on how many mesh off some of their patterns.

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  Před 4 měsíci

      None of our videos are old. We want them all viewed, lol. I recommend spacing those so that the fingers stay parallel to each other and basically maintain the squareness of the mesh on that end of the throat. Really it's preference, and no two are the same, but I'ma say 2-3 inches depending on mesh size maybe more

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @simmonsez6707 all of ours are spaced identical to each other. Once I figure out how far to the first one, I tie all the knots the same distance apart.

      Do you mind questions? Don’t want to bother you.
      If not, I have always used a clove hitch to tie my fingers to the #48. Never had slipping.
      Do you straddle your knots or stay on top with all your hitches. Sorry just found your videos

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  Před 4 měsíci

      @simmonsez6707 don't mind questions at all. I stay on top, but straddling isn't a bad idea. I've never had any slip. If your clove hitches don't slip, that works too. It really don't matter long as it works.

    What's the difference between a flat throat and a finger throat on a single throat trap?

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  Před rokem

      In my opinion, what I've seen so far is the fingered throats catch flatheads better than flat throats. Channel cats don't seam to mind flat throats. I have talked to a few people that have caught flatheads in flat throats, but I'm just not sure on it yet. Flat throats are easier to build. Tying in fingers is pretty time consuming. Flat throats seal off better so not even small channel cats get back out. For years most net builders only used fingered throats. Flat throats are getting more popular with the wire nets coming out. Bottom line it's personal preference

    • @IanWick-lz1tk
      @IanWick-lz1tk Před rokem +1

      @@godscountryhuntingfishing1638 Right on! Thank you for such a quick and detailed response! So if I understand correctly it basically refers to the shape of the throat where the fish or whatever enter the trap- finger being circular and staying open in the shape of an O and flat being flat and kind of sealing up after something enters and therefore doesn't refer to the shape of the front hoop? Thank you!

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  Před rokem

      @@IanWick-lz1tk kinda, but fingered throats can be tied down as tight as the builder wants. That's why I rebuilt the throats in this video. They were too open for my suiting. It also has a lot to do with what type fish your after and size fish your after. Tighter throats for channel cats and small blues, bigger openings for big cats and buffalo IMO

  • @badapplefarms1706
    @badapplefarms1706 Před rokem +1

    How far apart are the knots that the fingers are tied to?

    • @godscountryhuntingfishing1638
      @godscountryhuntingfishing1638  Před rokem

      Depends on what size mesh. It's just a guess on that to make look right. Lines should look about as far apart as the mesh at that point on the flew. Kinda streamlined. 2-4 in apart
