- This is my full guide on how to beat the labyrinth boss, Izaro and ascend. Defeating Izaro is a lot easier when you understand how the mechanics work and how to use all those Charge Disruptors, defeat the Golems and deactivate the buffs Izaro gets.
I also did test which attack and which spell does which damage type by using characters with high and no dodge and high and no spell dodge, high and no evasion, high and low phyiscal mitigation and different resistances.
As the data was gathered by trying it out manually, errors could have been made. I did my best though!

I got disconnected and lag killed so often in the Labyrinth, it isn't even funny anymore. Seriously the most dangerous enemy in this game are the servers...

You missed one thing on the Fonts. When you destroy one, it curses you with a stronger version of its curse for 10 seconds. This is very noticeable with Temp Chains especially.

Perfect explanation, especially the fact that you bothered to point out the fact that, you can know before starting the fight what mechanic are up from previous fight. I just peaced it the first time.

How to beat Izaro:
Don't play evasion char. Don't drop fps (LMAO)
+Altroante i play pure evasion raider and have no problem with him...just walk attack , and you are fine...decent dmg helps ofc for some mechanics

Good video, Yoji. For me most difficult part in Izaro fight are lags (my laptop is not very powerful). First lag on first use of skeleton blast. Second lag appears on activating spike traps. Third lag - on teleport inside trap area. Each one can cause 4-5 seconds of freeze, so usually it ends by death. It will be great when GGG complete optimization patch.

This whole labyrinth and Izaro fight are stupid.
Started POE 3 days ago, playing a Witch without any build guide (I do not want one for the campaign, even if it means having to restart later on). For that reason, I am not playing into the league.
Had no issue in all of the quests and dungeons at all, reached level 40, tried Izario and die twice in a row. I guess even if my DPS was enough for the rest, against Izaro I just get flooded with summons (mecanics was the portals, followed by the gargoyles). Clearly I'll need to pick these items the next time and hopefuly try to get a bit more DPS before I try again :)

Never had trouble with Izaro until the arc build I'm running right now. Suddenly, Izaro smoked me. So, I thought I would finally bother to learn the mechanics of the fight and your video told me everything I needed to know to beat him with pathetic single target dps. Thanks, Yogi! You're the bomb!

As a necromancer, the 1st and 2nd fights are cakewalks. But the 3rd is a nightmare. I can imagine any build not built for head on confrontation would struggle greatly; that tiny arena laced with traps is rough.
yeah, that would certainly help . Being able to see where you're walking so you dont lose a foot or two lol
Now please tell us what build takes hammer hits from Izaro and barely make a scratch?
any basic marauder build that spreads to golems blood node and has taken all the life regen nodes along the way and has 800+ life/s regen and 50% phys dmg reduction (armor).
still hard when izaro 1 shot shot but great video it really help new players understand the mechanics alot
For claw/dagger users, just get dash + whirling blades, hit n run whole time n eventually you'll beat him.
I am pretty sure the portals' summons do NOT grant you flask charges!

Thanks for that great vid, but I still have one question remaining about the Lieutenants and especially the Lieutenant of rage, the one that has "Cast damage reflection"...
Is it a temporary cast (so a curse) that can be visible for a short time lapse ? Or is it permanent ?
sadly what kill me is lag not izaro
I use an old RF Incinerate Marauder (Nerfed) character & face tank him.
Oh man, watching a video on the labyrinth without shadow graphics is just brutal! You need shadows for that place :)
+nicknicksiren If your goal is to make all the attacks easy to recognize and clearly visible shadows do not help. For immersion I agree, shadows make the lab look much more dangerous.
+ItsYoji Yeah that's true. The lab just looks completely different without shadows because of shadow cascading since they cover absolutely everything.

Great video Yoji but you missed out a highly effective alternate strategy. Play an Oro's Sacrifice Flickerstriker, bind Flicker to the 'Q' key. Hold Q. Ascendancy be praised exiles.

Doesn't the wind slash do partial cold? I feel like I've heard that from plenty of sources, though that doesn't mean it's correct. Also, I think the fonts cast an empowered curse on you on death. Thoughts?
+HolyShatAMonkey From my testing it does not doo elemental damage, tested it by lowering my cold, fire and lightning res and compared damage. But I could always be wrong.
+ItsYoji I'll keep testing, but I've been frozen by it twice today, and I think I had the conduit of frost down. Then again, the fight in merciless is hectic, so I could very well be wrong xD
My main problem is that when there are too much things going on in the room, my FPS drops heavily. Any guide for making the game more stable for weaker PCs? :D
And thanks for the guide. It helped a lot. It turns out that on my first fight with him I got the hardest and most confusing mechanics. The statues that heal. I had no idea whats going on and I tried to kill them, but when I saw that they cannot die I left them and focused on Izaro himself. Which of course brought two statues in the next fight and I didnt know whats going on.

Thanks for explanation of Izaro mechanics...we're taught three times(one set in each difficulty) how to avoid quite primitive traps(a.k.a. trials) but nowhere is the izaro fight modification explaned...do not understand why...
btw i didn't know what disruptors do even though i farmed merc-izaro alot already) just used them all before next phase)

christopher fieb it's fun, but as i said i just can't figure out the disruptors one)) but i must say that i'm playing build with very high single target dps(blade vortex), so i often finish izaro too fast for any mechanics to do anything for me
What about shrines in the secret rooms that give you permanent buff while you are in labyrinth?
Yet, if you don't destroy the mechanics, you earn bonus keys in the end

Can you link us to builds, Yoji, that can compete on the leader-boards on each difficulty level? I'm having trouble beating Cruel Lab, even being level 63, but I am pigeonholing myself into a build that isn't OP at all and trying to do it. I want to be able to make it work, though.... Maybe I just need to know more about the game, so I was wondering what builds people use to speed through the Labyrinth at every difficulty level, so maybe I can find something to add to my build to make it strong enough.
trying to run this with my first character at lvl 67 xD with no legit gear yet and holy shit this is hard but with this guide i am on the second stage and hopefully i will beat izaro soon
Tried the labyrinth for the first time today, on HC normal. Man, is that shit hard. T.T
I was pretty overleveled going in, 38 (39 when reaching stage 3 Izaro) and the zone itself is 33. So I was expecting a pretty easy time. Boy, was I mistaken... Had to tp out of the final fight, because I would have died without a doubt.
I did not know about the charges that carry over and the trinkets though, so I might try again tomorrow using those.

Nice guide Yoji! I think the Izaro fight was a really good addition to poe. I think it might be just a little bit too easy though. I did my first merc lab 3 levels underleveled (in hardcore) and didn't ever really panic. I just think the curse font are much much harder than the other ones, maybe together with the idols, which is a bit of a shame. Maybe some of the other mechanics can be buffed a little. I'd really like some builds struggeling with certain mechanics more than others, as to keep the diversity up, but if you're having trouble you can just wait for a day where the mechanics are favourable for your build. I also think that traps are a little harsh on ES characters, especially early on.
+Marijn Zwitserloot ES characters do struggle more against traps indeed. I find Izaro not too easy, maybe you should play worse builds ;)
Good advice! I am about to reroll something worse than a pizzablaster. I just hope my lowlife build is ready for some serious traps.

I'm not sure the green missiles are fire ...I have 75% fire resist and 1k life and he kills me in one shot ....actually all bosses kills me with one shot haha (I play with ranger ...any tips for surviving bosses and not being dead after one shot ?)
I am fairly certain they deal fire damage. How far into the game are you with 1k life?

+Sylvester Pedersen yea haha I never invested points on life increase...so basically I handled the mobs quite easily but the bosses are killing me after one hit....
I opened a new ranger char with different build (mainly on life increase and attack speed and crits....my previous one was mainly focused on projectile damage and crits )

why not just stand in front oft him and spam your spell/attack until he is dead while blocking all his attacks and getting 3 keys at the end? :D

Good luck doing this with a full summoner. I'm level 80 and I can't even take him down on cruel. That last fight where you're totally gimped with your movement is seriously some of the biggest bullshit I've ever seen in a game. ANY game.

Great guide. My problem lies somewhere in my build though. With flasks my phys reduction is up in the high 80's - 90's yet still if I get hit by Izaro I lose a good 3.5 - 4k health. :(

how much damage should i have (for uber) ?? i have juggernaut with 10 ENDU and 20-30% life regen but only around 20k dps (bladefall) ... i can ignore allthe traps and survive (facetank) mostly anythink,... how much damage is enought to deal with izaro fast enought , or better how much damage do i need to kill the gargayls, lutenants, golems etc ... right now i have no chance to kill them in time to prevent izaro to get buffed
Izaro is easy, the problem is to get to izaro room when there are ADHD monsters that can simply OHKO you if they touch you.
but isnt it better to give hem buffs so you can get more treasure keys?
that's good only if u can easily handle him in normal buffless run

Oh lol, never noticed. He is the same as double sword Izaro then. He probably gets some defenses from it while double sword might have some offense buff? Would be my guess but those things are very hard to test.

Well skills change, when he carry a shild, he gets Shild Charge.
And i feel like he is the most dangerous when 2 x 1h sword ... some times i leave it, if i see double sword. >.>
Then 1h sword + shild.
And the easiest for me to avoid the dmg, it's when he carry the 2h Mace *-*.
What about telling that you get more keys if you do a harder fight, so you shouldn't clean them at all normally if you got a good build?
My logic was that if you can beat Izaro fully buffed you do not need a guide on how to beat him. Or the other way around, if you need a guide on how to beat him, you don't want him buffed.
'The portals are the easiest one'... I tried this once and failed extremely hard, it was the portals that killed me. I was running templar with primarily aoe spells, but I couldn't kill the mobs fast enough to get health back. Before long the entire room was full of them. Thats why I'm here, is something wrong with my build? I'm lvl 34 and I have been stomping every other mob in the game up until now

Using a Spectromancer build... level 26, i got to the second fight, and got insta-killed... F***ing gargoyles... Thank for the mech tho!!!!
Her "Green Missile Barrage" Just 1shotted my witch Lv. 46 on damn NORMAL DIFFICULTY... got 600hp and 700 shield, does my gear suck? xD
Were you resistance capped and actually at full shield? Overall this seems a bit low though.

my resistance isnt capped at all, im running with 70% lightning (with res buff), 40% cold and like 10-15% fire. somehow i got -10% chaos... my rings got 30% fire / Cold but i still only got around 10% fire res...

Can't pass the first boss encounter. I'm a witch summoner.
Short hand, walk around him and tray not to stand around, personally i find the charge one the worse its kind of hard to see when and how much he has charges so i often end up leaving him with charges.
Honestly i find my chances of death in the labyrint go up if i go around exploring side areas, also screw silver keys that 95% of the time some of the least worth while garbage
+SnowCrash Yeah definitely. After expIoring a lot in the beginning of the league now I mainly rush for the exit and through the trials. If I see an easy silver key, chest or trinket still I pick it up.
He explode me a 5k damage with one normal hit.
how about Wind Pulse ? also have u even tried barrage coc srs with zombies and flame totem and/or any fire spell totem u want? scion of course XD

How can I kill it as a Marauder lvl 40? It is to hard. Can you give me any tips? ( I'm a noob/newbie)
why cant we be like izaro where leap slap causes EQ.. I mean its a bit like D3 but hell sometimes I wish it would be EQ after leap slam.. It's kinda weird where you fly 30 ft into the air and land only hurting a few enemies.. Uhhh GGG next patch perhaps?

What level should i be to try to complete the labyrinth?
This largely depends on your build and gear. You usually want to be above the zone level of the labyrinth by a bit before you do it.
im a summoner witch and i just found out it will be very difficult for me....
I jsut did it today on a summoner witch (was my first time). Did it level 43 for standard, so thats 10 levels above the zone level, but overall was a breeze, just ran around the room in circles letting my minions (2 spectres, 1 golem, 5 zombies and 8 skeletons) zerg him. I would stop once in a while to recast skeletons and blazing spirits. Only mechanic I did was gargoyles as they are easy to kill on standard. Last encounter do the same but be mindfull of traps obviously.
so mant mechanics. insane!!
