Well, I've gotta say I had a LOT of fun putting this project together. There were some high claims about Mantics system for terrain and man, I think they delivered! Easy to use, SO versatile as well as affordable. Highly recommended. I only wish I had more time to add more details into this but crazy happy with the results. Make sure to check them out and pick up a set or two or three! bit.ly/ManticTerrain

Back the KICKSTARTER!!! www.kickstarter.com/projects/real-terrain-hobbies/the-hillside-hamlet?ref=59ydt7
Awesome work Neil.
A great use of the modular system to make your own amazing diarama.
Absolutely love it! A little thing I think could make it even better would be like have a few figurines, maybe in hazmats trying to deal with the situation cuz ya know this is supposed to portray some kind of experiment gone wrong. Maybe some corpses and like guys trying to fight the kraken with flamethrowers or something, but that’s just my 2 cents, still absolutely love it tho, good work
This is awesome. Great use of those tiles! End result is absolutely brilliant.
Thanks man! Appreciate it. It was a really fun light project to put together this time around.🙂
My girlfriend and I love your videos!
I'm just amazed how accurate one can be with airbrush! Feels like it should go completely everywhere but it seems to hit exactly where you want most of the time.
Holy cow the reveal at the end. Huge kudos for how you've been adding LEDs recently in your builds, you're definitely right that it takes it to the next level and Neil I think you're one of the best on CZcams at doing that, adding lots of wow without killing the immersion or scale effect.
Ahhh thanks my friend. That was a really great comment and glad you feel that way about the LEDs.🙂
Its like yours is the epic BOSS fight AREA!!! Dope!!!
That's so good Niel! I held my breath when I saw you had a leak in the resin, never a fun time, but you pulled it through!
Thanks Knarb! Yeah my heart totally sank when I saw that. There was a spot on the other side too. Made real sure the tape was tightly sealed everywhere after seeing that.🙄
Great project and a great video. That weathering worked out beautifully. The pacing of your videos is always perfect.
Hey thanks Merrick. Appreciate you saying that man. 🙂
Unreal diorama. And man ... when you turned that Woodland Scenics LED on for the first time... *chefs kiss*. Perfect vibe.
Your work is just amazing. Love this. Anyone complaining about it not being scratch built is just silly. This is no different than finding odds and ends around the house and piecing it together.
That is what art looks like.
Wow. That come out unbelievably good!! Fantastic job!!!
Absolutely stunning. We love how you used your industrial knowledge to add accurate details that might otherwise go unnoticed.
That base is alientastically done great
Wishing you and your family good health❤️
That is absolutely stunning work man. I can always tell which of my terrain guys were in construction, it shows in their work and detail accuracy on modern and sci-fi projects.
The light effects realy do the job on setting the atmosphere of this piece. Great to see it all come together so effectively.
Nothing wrong with building scenery from model kits. That's what miniature builders for movies do. It's not all scratch built.
Terrain Crate makes some very nice stuff, but it is too pricey a road for a lot of people.
Even so, the look of these pieces can still inspire for building from scratch with things like foam core and fiber board.
Hey Neil! This video shows everyone just how accomplished you truly are in creating real world dioramas! So glad that you were able to fund your kickstarter! I rather believed that it would. People know that you create quality environments and would be at the top of any project! I am looking forward to seeing others creating their own hobbit hole villages!
Hey thanks so much, really appreciate you cheering me on like that. I too can't wait to see what others out there do with the models. It'll be really surreal to see the first pictures coming out knowing that they're using my models heh. Thanks again and hope you have a really great day/evening/week. :)
I really liked this diorama. The ability to put things together quickly is definitely a plus
Yeah it really was quite satisfying how it all came together so quickly. :) Glad you liked the diorama!
Who says playing with silly toys like this isn't educational? I learned what the color coding means in industrial settings.
Something that I've noticed before is that when someone with real-world knowledge gets to apply that understanding to terrain, it always looks a LOT better. I had a geologist set-up a game board for a miniature game. He took the random pile of odd rock formations I had and arranged them to make sense. It was amazing! It added so much realism to the board.
The colors! The composition! The story! You crushed it!
Badassery Neil! Bravo good sir! I tip my hat to you
WOW...thats cool Neil....😍
Fantastic. The only thing I would say is that the water could use some ripples and splashes to add movement to the monster.
Love how this turned out! So many great elements. I really wanna grow my sci-fi terrain and this is a very inspirational build. The mantic kits adds some great detail and saves time.
Wow!!!! Incredible results!!!
The reveal is jawdropping...well done!
I like Diorama with military, apocalyptic and medieval themes
Holy Forks and Shirts. Next level terrain.
Holy crap. That is awesome.
Absolutely amazing.
I've always liked Mantics Terrain, though the first incarnations for Deadzone were a little rough. But it has come a hell of a way since that first release and there are so many more options than before. Not bad at all for some cargo container buildings.
Absolutely right about the lighting like i can't even imagine what it would look like without it, the lights makes it all look like its actually real
What an epic build! That final color palette from the lighting really sends it over the top into the sci-fi vibe. Well done!
Dude! This is just incredible. I would definetly love to play a narrative kill team match in there
Wow, this is amazing.
Those amber lightings are prefect, as amber lighting like that is common emergency lighting.
I love what your doing with LEDs on your projects. It adds an awesome touch of realism.
Awesome ..... AWESOMENESSSSSSSSSS .
Thanks man :)
This is awesome. I love how you approach these. I’m always so hesitant, but you just plow through and make it look possible.
Fabulous !!!! You're awesome
I really liked what you do! Excellent
Incredible work dude.
I was gonna make a comment, saying all the piping is too colorful, but then you explained WHY it's colorful and it blew my mind. I had no idea pipes were color coded in such a way. I think maybe a little more weathering and grime could've been good, regardless, awesome model and everything.
That looks outstanding, I agree with Luke certainly has some Black Mesa vibes going on.
Hey, thanks man! And yea so glad he pointed that out
That was a joke HAHA FAT CHANCE
I really like the look of all the panels put together in a big section like you did for the back wall, really gives a sense of industrial scale that's missing from most builds using these kits. I also like the knowledge about how an industrial setup would work, makes it easier to decide what different elements should be coloured and makes it more realistic.
OH WOW... What a FREAKING AMAZING piece of art. Your knowledge in both industrial design and modeling is in full view and enhanced by the modeling products you used. Thank you for sharing.
Only one thing I would have done different. I would have placed the LED in the Hollow in the Tank for the Aliens. Would have made the wires easily hidden, though I did like the Top Down appearance of the tank lighting.
Wow. This is aome amazing stuff. Just getting into the terrain side of the hobby, and while I am a dud at crafting, all these modular sets are amazing!
Kraken is amazing - very enjoyalbe diorama build - keep going!
oooo wow, this is great, ive just bought a load of terrain crates and at the weekend i'll be painting up my first set
The LIGHTNING!! It gives this incredible build such an intense atmosphere... I immediatly felt scared and searched for a hiding spot 💜
Nice, I did some fire sprinkler work as well!
Hey! I got a challenge for you. I'd like to see you make a terrain piece that looks like a military map. With gridsquares, conture lines, a cross to resemble a church etc. But in 3D.
That would be sick!
nothing wrong with scratch building what you need, years ago i was into D&D and Warhammer and i would build all my terrain
That's a great build. Good job.
Absolutely looks great. I think that I would have maybe hidden the wires for the tank LEDs inside of the pipe work, but that's just me.
Always amazing end result!
Absolutely stunning! I love the colours in the final result.
Wow, what a cool terrain, even cooler when you get everything handed to you for FREE.
Got to love how you add the little bit at the end telling people to go out and get this stuff to make some great terrains, but not adding if they could AFFORD it all.
4:45 Catch of the Day! 😆
Seriously though, that thing is wicked cool.
Probably one of my favorite videos to date. I think the sense of menace and threat would be enhanced if there were a couple of scientists and soldiers reacting to the intrusion of this eldritch horror.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I’m going to have to find some minis to prin and post some pics on Instagram maybe.
Neil, you are a true artisan. Amazing work, as always. So many great builds happening throughout the You Tube community. Thanks for sharing. Congratulations on the successful Kickstarter. See ya.
Hey thanks Norman!! Always appreciate your comments.🙂
Love your lighting.
i'm always so blown away
Stunning!! Well done.
Another spectacular build Neil! The water feature took it to the next level. Fantastic!
Wow man, this thing came out so great! Amazing detail and wonderfully executed!
Incredible! Love it!
That is
One
Epic
Diorama!
Man, your builds are awesome, regardless if they’re 100% scratch built or not.
Wow the lighting turned out so absolutely beautiful on this! Love how all the different colors interact with each other. And that kraken section looks amazing- another stunning project!
Oooof, sorry just going through old comments and can't believe I missed this. Thanks so much Devon!!!
Just WOW!
Thank you!
So cool! Amazing 🤩
very pretty!!!
Love the Sask hoodie!
Killer build, Neil! Such an awesome story being told, and some cool info about color coding at industrial sites. Thanks for sharing that!
Thats just brilliant
Brilliant... looks so good. 😁👍
Awesome work as always
Congrats on the kickstarter! & fun to see u work on a "small" project again! Yay for Luke, right?! & good advice about glue fumes. Mask up for safety! 👻
Really cool.
This is outstanding!
great videos. if you polish and buff those vat molds they should end up nice and shiny and transparent
Great work. Congrats.
Great job!
Looking great, love the diorama, the bubble give the the tanks just right look too.
Extraordinary and magnificent work friend I congratulate you, you are really great, 💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎🥇👌👌
From kickstarter learned you are sask I had ideas from the hoody…bunny hug if you will. Cool to see a CZcamsr from my province!
Omg i have those accessories. Well done sir!
Brilliant
Outstanding build!
Cool info that you used to work as a sprinkler fitter. I design sprinkler systems for our company. Love all of your stuff and the production value! Keep it up.
Super cool build!
Awesome!
Me too, im a Fire Sprinkler Fitter/Inspector in the states.
Looks amazing!
Awesome stuff, looks so good, will have to look into this for my next project!
