00:00 Intro
00:31 Plugin Overview
01:28 Beginner Tone
05:52 Advanced Tone
08:39 Thoughts on the Plugin
09:02 Final Results
I think this is a great example of what happens when you over process. All those eq moves actually added artifacts and made the tone harsh and scratchy
Honestly think the "beginner" tone sounds better than the "advanced" tone when I listen to them side by side.
100%
Nice, happy to hear it 😃
That's the beauty of the Stringer Plugin; most "mix-ready" plugin tones I've ever heard. Miles better than the "advanced" tone
@@benjaminmuir1776 The reason why the best thing you can do is to load a plugin and go to the next instrument :)
Sick!!!
I’m happy that I can see something new. Bass-mint - is the goat. Great as all your videos! Thanks 🇺🇦
I have this ampsim. It sounds amazing and has a very fast transposer built in.
what's the ampsim?

Huge thanks for the amazing tone and mix! Couldnt be better 🤟 great work man❤
I like the beginner tone way more
Honestly me too. I had a really hard deadline for this mix so I leaned on what I know have worked before.
Just goes to show that sometimes stripping back is waay better, I'm definitely guilty of falling into the plugin trap 😅
Have to admit, the beginner setting sounded a lot better to my ears than the advanced. Advanced was way too over produced sounding to me, but nowadays most people like that. Depends on what you really like honestly.
Totaly...
I would love to hear more of @5:38
So I don’t really need how to play anything except turn on a computer lol
Super tight mix, i love it! What about the drum mixing? Is it the same as what you did on your previous drum mixing videos or is it totally new?
It's pre-mixed drums provided in the competition files. I've just done some eq moves on the stem 🙂
🎉
I think you get better results moving the mic around on the ir cab
the end master is a bit loud but great stuff man
May be a n odd question, have you ever put an EQ on as you record your DI? Like before an amp sim , just wondering if it has a benefit or not. Thanks
I think in this video he used the built-in eq that is pre-amp sim.
I usually do EQ before the amp, but not baked into the DI 🙂
I also recently did a track for the Mike Stringer competition using this plugin. My mix sounds pretty good on CZcams but very "washed out" on Instagram if that makes any sense. Would be great if you can give an insight on why this happens.
I guess its just instagram.. always messing up with audio. Best case is to upload via desktop web page, and thats what I did, thats the best case, no other way around unfortunately. (Mobile upload is even worse :) )
This. Instagram smears the transients a lot unfortunately... Like Cevret says for some reason audio quality is better (not by any means good) when uploading via the computer.
IMO a bit of a shame to only have submissions accepted via Instagram because the intricacies of riffs are lost simply due to worse quality.
@@MOMetalProductions I know right?? I wish they made us submit CZcams links or something because it sounds straight up bad on Instagram ! Mine almost sounds like there's some phase issues going on. I also made the mistake of uploading directly from my phone instead of computer.
There’s actually a setting in Instagram that’s not enabled by default called “allow high quality uploads”. Make sure that’s turned on and it’ll sound a lot better. Still not great but it’s better
Does he not have noticeable latency playing in wireless headphones?
Yes indeed there was, but it is at some level managable I would say :)
What’s the difference between widening and just sticking the guitars hard left and hard right?
The widener is using some phase sorcery to make it even wider sounding than if the guitars are just LR panned. Easily overcome though, it's best used subtly 🙂
@@MOMetalProductions speaking of phasing. Do you use anything to lock the guitars perfectly into phase? Even with a perfect take, the frequency peaks won’t line up perfectly
@user-fw9gp8wg7f no, you don't want the guitars perfectly in phase. If you over edit LR guitars they can actually cancel out into a mono signal. It's the differences between the sides that create the wide sound.
@@user-fw9gp8wg7fYou wouldn’t want them in phase if you want to widen them. You can actually get some very cool effects if you zoom in all the way in your DAW and move the audio track ever so slightly to the left/right. Kinda play around with it and you’ll get some cool results
How 6string scale 25.5 sound like this
thicker strings
You can get pretty much down to A1 on a 25.5" and everything will usually intonate fine so long as there is enough movement on the low string saddle(s). With some, Ab1 and even G1 can even work depending on the thickness of the lowest string. Anything below that, I'd say go 26.5" or 27".
I play stuff as low as an octave below drop A on a 25.5" six string by using a tuning pedal. The guitar is set to drop A and the strings are not much thicker than a normal gauge set.
@@crewd00d Yeah, that's digital. LLNN play in drop G1 and drop to G0 with a Boss PS-2. I use an SY-1000 the same way.
Just to clarify its a 7string and a 26.5 guitar (Jackson Misha ET7) :)
6:58 Too much EQ CUT. You lose all the aggressiveness of guitar and in the final mix the guitar sound hollow.. too much processing kill the guitar tone !
Noted, and I agree. I was under a very strict deadline for this mix, so I feel back on what I've done before. Goes to show that sometimes easier sure gives a better end result.
Too much mixing in solo.
