  • We are walking laps around Walkersville Volunteer Rescue Company #Velocity #NonWalkInHDR!
    This apparatus creates an outstanding workspace for their firefighters with an expansive crew cab and FOUR awnings. Their awning configuration provides the ability for extension in locations that would previously be hindered by only having one large awning. The Will-Burt Night Scan Light and Vertical Tower Mast will provide optimal visibility during nocturnal responses. A Lazy-Susan tool mount will store hydraulic tools for rapid deployment. Their local school mascot in #WalkersvilleMD is a lion and is included in their department’s graphics. #FDIC2024 #ChargingForward

    I was at the plant when this was being built. I’ve never seen such excess in a fire truck. Even the paint on this thing was ultra premium with flecks of something special in it.
    They must have raised a ton of money for this truck. I doubt a community would budget for such excess. I’m sure they worked really hard for it. It’s beautiful.

    • @Gregwing

      So in other words, a paint job that won't chip easily and is reflective for safety. Got it.

    • @krisone63
      @krisone63 Před měsícem +4

      @@Gregwing yeah... sure, you can spin it that way but that wasn't the point of the paint, it's excess and money is no object for whoopies when it comes to their equipment. NYFD has used reflective strips that have worked for decades... no problems. They serve a town of 5,800 persons that is primarily farmland.... maybe they'll go to highway 15 but this is so excessive.

    Only fluff I would have added is two more Roto-Rays on the front of the truck. Anything with light and motion that can get a driver’s attention is a big help. Amazing how many people pull out in front of emergency vehicles every day. This is one nice toolbox.

    • @krisone63
      @krisone63 Před měsícem +1

      Sure they do but it's regardless of how many whoopie lights you have on your vehicle, they'll pull out because they are not paying attention. So keep adding lights and they'll still pull out in front of you.

      Mount Horeb in Wisconsin ran dual Q sirens on their rigs for years. There's gotta be close to an extra $20k in emergency lighting on the front of that rig alone. Standard NFPA lighting requirments work just fine. I used to sell Pierce apparatus, there is actually an option called the "Maryland Package" for emergency lighting on front to include Roto Rays, MARs lights, etc. it's ridiculous.
