if a school has a mandatory uniform the school should provide it and the parents shouldn't pay for it

Matthew Kost Yea. My private school that I went to for my first year of high school before I transferred to a public school required that boys be clean shaven and hair can’t be past the collar. We also couldn’t have our hair too short (#2 buzz and below was against the rules and you would be suspended until it grew back to a #3). Public school is treating me better as I can wear whatever I want and I can have whatever hairstyle/facial hair I want.

@4 Fake Yeah, but *most* jobs don't require suits, and if they do make you buy them, they are usually a very high paid job, and the suit has meaning. My uniform costs up to £250 per year, easily avoidable if we was able to wear normal clothes.
There is no benefit to uniform, only negatives.

I think it's unfair that some schools force girls to wear only skirts. First off, many girls can find skirts uncomfortable and annoying to wear. Secondly, skirts are freezing in the winter. There was a Catholic school near where I lived as a kid, and in the winter you would see the girls wearing pants _underneath_ their skirts while they walked to school, which they would then have to take off once the entered the building. That is simply absurd. And in my experience, classrooms are pretty cold in the winter. Wearing a skirt would actually distract girls. It's like forcing boys to wear shorts in the winter, you wouldn't do that.

I wore uniform until I was 18 and being forced to wear uncomfortable trousers, blazers, shirts and ties didn't improve my education. People were still bullied and beat up, stupid kids wore their ties short, slutty girls pulled their skirts up, everyone still found ways to look like their group (I didn't tuck my shirt in for about 2 years, haha) and everyone hated it. Going to Uni and wearing whatever I wanted for 3 years was paradise. Now I work and have to wear smart shoes, shirts that I hate, etc. We're never free.

What the media tells you on school uniforms is bullshit. I went to a uniform school from 7-8 I got bullied. I never cried but I just became frustrated everyday I came to school. Then I went to high school where there was no uniform and I didn't get bullied. In fact I was respected and clicked with everyone.
Uniforms don't stop people from making fun of you all together. There are other things people get made fun of their size, weight, hair, skin color, hygiene, shoes.
So I like non uniform schools.

As someone who is overweight and is still going through puberty, I hate uniforms.
When I was younger, I'd see all of the skinny girls in their uniforms who somehow actually looked nice in their uniforms and I'd always feel left out because I was nowhere near skinny and my uniform made me feel worse about myself. School uniforms are uncomfortable and rigid. When I was wearing my uniform, I always felt horrible, I just wanted to go home. The few days when we'd have "school spirit week" I felt so much better about myself and wanted to stay and was still self conscious, but had a lot more confidence and happiness even. Even when they'd let us wear our team t-shirts and jeans, I'd feel more confident. That's just my personal experience and my take on it, though. I believe they should at least have uniforms be optional, or have no uniforms but less stress on the dress code.

When I wore jeans and a top on non infirm days it was so relieving to not be pulling up my pants that didn't fit the whole day and re tucking in the shirt that didn't fit me well because my boobs were too small.

    @unicornglitzer Před 3 lety +9

    My thoughts on school uniform:
I hate it. Never had it, but would be a nightmare if I did. Here's why:
    1. It is pressuring students into wearing something that is most of the time not even what they like to wear. It is robbing students of their individuality and creativity, which is a part of choosing your own clothing. They will feel uncomfortable, maybe because of the fabric material, the fact that it's not their preferred chlothing style, because they have a different body type and the uniform doesn't really match with the clothing they would feel more confident/comfortable in, or just the fact that some girls don't like to wear skirts.
    2. The ridiculously strict rules on school uniform are just unnecessary. If a student just slightly breaks the dress code, they are punished. Your shirt is not tucked in? change it! The color of your socks is against the rules? take them off or go home! It is keeping student away from their education more than it is helping them to get to it. it is also not right from schools to determite by temperature when students are allowed to wear their jacket, or when girls are allowed to wear pants under their skirts or not. When I'm freezing I'm wearing my jacket no matter the temperature.
3.It is not helping students to not get bullied and to concentrate. Bullies are (most of the time) not targeting students just based on their clothing, so uniforms won't change that. And if you're forced to wear something that you do not concider comfortable, it is most likely that you can't concentrate.
    4. If it is concidered necessary to have a uniform, the school should pay for it/provide it. Or at least make it optional for students who don't have the money for it.
Here are my thoughts on the school system in general (and why it's bad):
    1. If you have a different type of learning, that suits you more, school is still forcing you to learn with their preferred methods.
    2. School is forcing you into a routine and you have to wake up at 6am, which is way too early for the brain to function (school starts at 8am, but the human brain starts functioning at 10am).
    3. They are scheduling your daily routine with subjects, although you should be able to organize your subjects (and when you have them) yourself. If they are talking about languages in the first 50 minutes, and math the next 50 minutes, how am I supposed to concentrate on the information and how am I able to let it sink in so I can remember it?
    4. School is also keeping unnecessary subjects like sports. Sports is important, but it has nothing to do with my education and I should be able to choose if I want to do sports or not.
    5. On the other hand, they are not teaching us imortant things that we will need in life. Like how to do my taxes. Instead they are wasting our time with stuff we don't need.
    6. School is not about learning, it's all about how good you are at remembering stuff and your score written on a pice of paper. It should be about learning, but it's not. If you like to learn new things, but are bad at remembering stuff that's not important and doesn't interest you, according to school, that means you're stupid. Even if you're good in a subject, if you're bad at the test, according to school, that automaticly means your bad at the subject.
    7. After a long day of school (up to 9 hours! which is btw too long, so I can't really concentrate on the things I'm learning later in the day, because there are barely any breaks) they still give you 1-2 hours of homework daily. As a perfectionist it is hard to keep up because it's simply too much. My longest school day (tuesday) ends at 5pm, the bus drives off at 6pm, I come home at 7pm, and finishing my meal and setting everything up for homework takes me up to 8pm. I need 10 hours of sleep to fell well rested, so I would have to go to sleep right after I finished dinner. No free time. No time for homework. But apperently teachers think a students day is 30 hours long, since they expect us to do homework after such a long day, and still think we have free time and enough sleep. No wonder students are so tired in the morning. If you fail to teach me everything I need to know about this topic in class, don't leave the stuff you weren't able to teach in time up to me as homework. In my opinoin, school and private life should not interfere, therefore, homework should not exist.
    8. they are pressuring students and are prioritizing their grades over their mental health.
TLDR: School is unhealthy because it's pressuring students, forcing them into a daily routine that starts too early and are not caring about the student, only about their grade.
    Edit: spelling is bad sry

Can I add that school uniforms are sensory issues for students who have autism and adhd. We’re very sensitive to certain fabrics, and making us wear a skirt when it’s freezing cold? I had to wear a school uniform from grade 1 to grade 8. I stopped needing to because I started home schooling. I can honestly say I hated it so much, they were unflattering and made me feel extremely self conscious. They were also very expensive for clothes that most of the time would only last you one year before you grew out of them or they wore out. I got bullied for how the uniform looked on me too, which is funny because that's one of the reasons they decided to implement it in the first place. I'm much happier now that I don't have to put uncomfortable clothes on for 8+ hours a day.

  • @kaitlynmoses2139
    @kaitlynmoses2139 Před 9 lety +29

Reasons for Uniforms and why they don't make sense to me.
    Jealousy:
So wearing a uniform is because other kids don't want other to look good. They want everyone to look bad because they look bad. Is it because maybe the less rich kid is suffering jealousy. well let me tell you, wearing a uniform doesn't not make me jealous of other girls. They are just as beautiful with or without it.
    Modesty:
Wearing a uniform is to be modest? If you are forced to wear a skirt everyday (being a girl) it seems to me that THAT would be a lot more immodest. wearing a skirt lets people see up your legs if you sit down. chair or no chair. Also some schools make the girls wear very immodest skirts that are very short. what is the point of that?
    Bullying:
Bullying is going to happen whether people where uniforms or not. you can't stop all of it. But maybe just maybe you could try to stop bullying another way..? It would be hard to catch bullying but i wear uniforms and people get bullied left and right. It doesn't make a difference.
Right now I can't think of any other reasons but I think uniforms are dumb. and i hate them. this wuz a rant, sorry for typos or spelling error.

I live in England and at my school we are constantly told to "express our individuality" but it's a bit hard to do that if we are all wearing the same 100% polyester sweaters. I feel SO much more comfortable in my own clothes because they are less rigid and constricting and as someone who is quite self conscious I often find my self worrying about how I look or even smell. 9/10 times it's nothing but it can sometimes be quite distracting in class.

Oli, I live in America. At my school, everyone is constantly worrying about their looks as well. The thing is, I am pushing for uniforms. 9 times out of 10, people at my school are picked on for what they wear. My theory is that is takes away the classroom fashion shows and puts everyone on a level playing field, because a poor kid looks the same as a rich kid in a school uniform. I also think that you shouldn't need clothes to express individuality. I think it can be done very easily through your actual personality.

Once people get professional jobs, uniforms are mandatory: doctors, nurses, and office space employees. The only color options would be the neck tie, different colored suit or shirt. School uniforms will get students in the habit of a professional job someday.

I went to four high schools (because of moving, not bad behaviour), two of which required uniform.
    What I saw:
    1. My first school was a charter school that hated the idea of a uniform and even promoted the freedom of self-expression and individuality. It had more of a focus on the STEM subjects and had high mark requirements. I saw hardly any bullying and crime/drug abuse seemed to be kept to a minimum, but I saw more depression/mental illness and self-harm. Everyone was very focused on school and many kept pretty good grades (at least my friends). Many were taking AP and (since we took some classes at a public school next to us that weren't offered at our school) had higher marks than their public school counterparts. BUT, there was no uniform to affect that.
    2. My second school, which was a regular school but had the IB program, required no uniform. I was in the academic/university stream (which, in my opinion, makes a difference) and saw more concern about appearance, poor attendance, more drug use, and less ability to focus in school.
    3. My third school was a Catholic school in a somewhat poor area which required uniform. I saw pretty good attendance (in my classes) but a lot of other people skipping. I didn't see drug use, but my friends commented about it. People around me were generally more able to concentrate.
    4. My fourth school was also a Catholic school but in a more well off area, this one also required uniform. I saw a lot of skipping, a lot of drug use (and I mean a lot, some people were coming in high!), there was only violence caused by certain groups of people that I saw, I didn't see much bullying but I heard it happen, there was sexual harassment, and even though some of these people liked to party, they managed to keep their grades high.
I don't know if my data adds to anything, but I can say that my grades went down when I went into a uniform school, but I doubt that had anything to do with the uniform because there were external situations that affected my ability to focus. I found a lot of the students were happy to have a uniform because it meant they didn't have to choose what to wear, but I saw a lot of alterations done to the uniform (a lot of girls wore their skirts so short that they were banned in one school). I know that teachers complained that our uniforms (consisting of golf t-shirts with the school logo, slacks and/or plaid skirts at both uniform schools) were not as proper and high-end as they should be, and that the laxity of the uniform caused the students to lose respect for it and the teachers.

I've experienced school with both uniforms and without, and I found the best experience was when the uniform existed but was loosely enforced. As in, there were a large variety of uniform pieces to choose from-- pants and shorts for everyone, skirts for girls, and about twenty different types of shirts-- and we were allowed untucked undershirts of whatever colour we pleased, patterned (or not) leggings under our skirts or shorts, accessories of pretty much any sort, ect. Even better was when students were just asked to put their uniform back on when they were out of it rather than getting detentions for it. We were able to dress comfortably and express ourselves just fine while still getting the benefits of uniforms (unity and crap).

I personally found my uniforms to do nothing for my school. There was a lot of bullying, and the educators did nothing about it or the rampant behavioural problems. When they did, they would punish the entire grade, like my brother's senior class, even though he was gone at a band performance on the day of the senior prank, or the entire class, like my 10th grade world history. It came off incredibly lazy and some students didn't need to follow dress code while others did. It showed more favouritism and reluctance to actively make sure the campus was a safe, conducive learning environment. The there were the Nazis. One pulled the collar of my shirt and looked down for the tag while I was doing work, then told me I couldn't wear the shirt I had on because it wasn't the BRAND the school recommended. And I was large at the time, so I had to wear adult clothes.

I wore school uniforms for most of my time in school. I always hated them. Saw them as nothing but ways to control. The American pubic school system has proven it's not about teaching useful information, it's about getting kids to pass standardized tests and become part of the middle class work force. What better way to indoctrinate that sort of thinking than uniforms? Uniforms waste teachers' time in writing up infractions in every class every day. They go against individual thinking and creativity. They cost more money than normal clothes. And they're also incredibly boring. I'm really glad I'm not in school anymore.

Guess we're just going to have to disagree. I think making life "easier" and subduing a natural part in exploring your identity and style as a young person isn't worth the trade-off. Plus kids in school are already told what to learn and exactly how they have to learn it, that they have to be in school and for so many years for so many hours a day. Their meals are made for them as well. Can we really not let them simply pick a shirt to wear?

yep, had to wear a school uniform from primary to secondary school. It was compulsory, no choice about it. One thing that's expensive is the school kit for PE, the tie & patch with the embolism on it (ouch! not cheap). If you lost your tie, well I'd have to pay for a new one.
The best part is that you can keep the tie as a memento.
Plus there was the matter of the school pas for the buses.
    Dress Code:
    -White shirts
    - Blazer (naive blue/black)
    - Trousers/Skirts (naive blue/black later on the higher school years)
    -Shoes (black)
    -Bags (black/navie blue)
    Socks (black/navie blue)
+ the patch on the blazer/tie with school colours.

I live in England, I absolutely hate them. I'm not speaking blindly, my primary school had optional school uniform. I was ultimately a lot happier because uniforms actually cause me more stress in regards of I'm not worrying if I've got my tie, if my shirt's washed etc. Plus if my school jumper's not washed in time I'm not allowed to wear a jacket. How does me being cold help my learning or prevent bullying?
Another main reason I would like to point out is that all the teachers in my school highlight that the reason for school uniform is that it prevents bullying. It may be true that it would be easier for bullies to find people with not as nice clothes, but the number of people they bully probably won't change, it will just be different people and they will find people's insecurities to pick on in different ways.
All they are doing is victim blaming instead of grasping the actual problem: if bullying is going on because of racism what are they going to do? Die our skin? Why don't they make us all wear fucking wigs, they're taking away our freedom to express ourselves so much. Would you rather every human being looked exactly the same? Should we all have the same personality? For me uniform reflects society's views; that if you're different, you're an outcast.
There was a case in America where a young boy (about 9yrs) was getting bullied, he decided to take his my little pony bag to school and got bullied further because of it, the school board decided then that he shouldn't bring the bag to school -and banned him from doing so. Of course he was still bullied, they just found a different insecurity.
Another bullshit reason they come up with is that 'it takes too long for pupils to choose their clothes because of society's pressure.' You're never going to get rid of those values by hiding them. If you take down uniform people will be forced to choose their own clothes, this will lead to them being more comfortable in choosing their own clothes. Making them reduce their status of caring what clothe they put on themselves because everyone is more relaxed, ultimately leading to society's pressure lowering altogether.
In conclusion: FUCK SCHOOL UNIFORM. I CAN'T FUCKING STAND IT. IT'S COLD AND IT FEELS LIKE I'M WEARING SOMEONE ELSES CLOTHES, AND I CAN'T STAND HIDING FROM MY PROBLEMS.

Ben Schaum lol look what we have here. A CZcams Psychiatrist that thinks he knows way more than he really does 😂. Stay in your lane, Doc. Your comparison is pure BS. It absolutely screams your bias by only presenting "positive" examples when someone could've just as easily stated that prisons enforce uniforms too, and that's not exactly the type of lifestyle you wanna impose on children or anyone for that matter. Plus, you oversimplify the use/purpose of uniforms in the workforce to try and relate it to school when it's very different. It's not about having a rebellious attitude (can't believe you came to such a straw man conclusion). It's about not wanting to be forced into *unnecessary* discomfort when there are little to no benefits. Imagine if I told you that you'd have to wear tight ass skinny jeans that don't let you breath, or I required you to sag or wear a crop-top or some other unpleasant style that goes against who you are. Hell, what if I dressed you head to toe like you're a woman in Saudi Arabia. Are you gonna be pissed that you're having to do these things when there's no benefits, or are you just gonna bend over and take it bc you're too much of a conformist to voice your grievances? There's nothing wrong with enforcing dress codes to promote good behavior and encourage students to be self-respecting, but controlling the specific outfit that someone can wear in a learning (not working) environment is outrageous. And someone forced into that type of system has every reason to express their resentment.

Oh I fucking remember when my school decided on the uniform thing, and they put it into place 1 week before summer break was over, so parents after buying kids their clothes, had to go BACK out and spend MORE money for new uniformal clothes, and they're still doing it after 9 years. Why do the uniforms help ease violence? Because they end up expelling the kids who have a t-shirt untucked, saying uniforms help us for our "adult" jobs. How many fucking basic jobs require a damn suit and tie? Don't see that at a McDonalds or bowling alley.

I used to wear uniforms throughout my middleschool and highschool in Korea. They were very expensive mind you, costing as much as a suit. A set of my highschool uniforms cost me like $600. Washing them is also a bitch because they require dry cleaning so in middleschool I'd see kids with ketchup on their jackets for a few days until the weekend because it was required you wear them (otherwise punished). Also, kids would retailor their uniforms, making skirts shorter, shirts tighter, etc.

I'm personally glad that I never had to wear a school uniform, because I personally have comfort problems with wearing formal dress in general. For example, when I had to apply for a job wearing a buttoned shirt, it was so uncomfortable that I had to wear a t-shirt underneath it.
So if I had to design a school uniform, then I'd settle with just a vest that could be worn over a t-shirt of your choice.

At the time, I hated wearing school uniform (I went to a school in the UK). Mine wasn't that bad, colour-wise. It was dark blue jumper and skirt/ trousers and a light blue shirt. It was annoying when teachers would be telling you off because your shirt was hanging out. I hated wearing tights! So I was happy when they allowed girls to wear trousers too.
The biggest plus, was not having to worry about what to wear to school. When I went to college at 16 and could wear whatever I wanted, while it was nice to have the freedom to express yourself, it was still a hassle to find what to wear every day. And cliques were immediately formed in college, based off what we were wearing.
Also, socially I think it was better. We didn't have cliques in school, we were all pretty much friendly with each other. Although after a while, kids with similar tastes in music would hang around together, that's the main thing that divided us. But that happened after getting to know the other person, because we couldn't tell who was a metalhead, indie fan etc because we all looked the same. So we got to be friends with all different types of people.
There was also no class/ wealth divide either, which I think was a really good thing.
We didn't have 'jocks', sports was't a big deal in the school and kids who were good at sports weren't held in high regard. Boys would play football/ soccer at break time, but that was about it.
At the time I did hate wearing school uniform and envied American kids. But now looking back, I think it was a good thing.

I used to wear a school uniform and getting dressed in the morning took me all but 2 minutes. Once I went to college dressing started to take me 30 minutes + so it's definitively a huge bonus for school uniforms, especially since they allow you to sleep longer which teens need. Then there's the whole school solidarity coming to play - if you see a kid being picked on that wear your schools' uniform you are more likely to do something about it.
But they are expensive(I think ~150 euro), kids grow out of them fast and some are uncomfortable (in one school I had to wear a skirt - it was a pure nightmare!).

When we have non-uniform days no-one concentrates! We're all too busy checking out what others are wearing, with our uniform we all look the same and don't care what others are wearing. Although my schools uniform is ugly. And the teachers always moan how our shirts aren't tucked in or how we've got skinny trousers on! Some schools are even stricter, we wear jumpers but other schools wear blazers where in the winter you CAN NOT wear a jacket over the top of the Blazer, you must wear it under. And some schools even have to wear skirts all through winter. But in the morning I can spend more time relaxing before school because I don't have to worry about what I wear

All schools both primary and high shools have uniforms in Australia, in my case it was a good thing as i didn't have to think about what i was going to wear in the morning, i was also a second hand clothing no fashion knowing teen girl so a uniform was great, until a casual clothing day came up, about once in awhile in exchange for a dollar students could wear what they wanted, those where the days i was bullied the most.
My dress sense had vastly improved in the last 19 yrs since age 15 but i remember the feeling of not being able to fit, not every child has wealthy or middle class parents so they can't afford to wear what all the other kids are wearing, this puts a huge strain emotionally and mentally on all teens, so uniforms are best all round.

    • @r.harris3322
      @r.harris3322 Před 10 lety +1

There are plenty of schools in Australia with uniforms? I personally have been to several schools both with, and without uniforms, private and public.
Private schools will almost always have a uniform - I haven't come across any that don't, but that's not to say there aren't - and public schools can have uniforms though they can vary greatly in how strict they are, as well as having no uniform at all and just a dress code eg. enclosed shoes, singlet shoulders have to be a certain width(3 or 4 fingers, 5-7cm) or maybe that you have to have sleeves etc.
Also as for costs in clothing - I know of more people who have struggled or still do with costs BECAUSE of having to buy uniforms ontop of the clothes they might already need, and tuition fees just to even go to the school(though some colleges and even a few highschools operate only on DONATED fees - you don't actually have to pay it (sometimes there is a small 'base' amount though) though they do request it, and you can also choose how much of it you want to pay if you'd like to - it does fund the school after all - but cannot pay the full amount).
Even schools often suffer for uniforms, because they have to have them made by a supplier which can be expensive. Because of this they obviously need to make at LEAST what they spent doing this otherwise they're going backwards with their funding's. So, they're often going to be quite expensive for the families buying them (and just because it might be a public school, it doesn't mean it isn't as proportionally as expensive as for those attending private schools OR that it's cheaper for those at private schools than at public schools. You might only be able to afford going to a public school and still scrape buy, or maybe you're quite comfortable - the same goes for those at private schools, there are lots of different situations) Because of this, people usually want access to being able to buy them secondhand. The schools can often lose money this way because they still have to have new clothing made for those who want it, and in a lot of cases the smaller the order, the more expensive it is for them and in a few schools, have had to then shut down these secondhand clothing pools. This can sometimes be because of the manufacturer not producing anything under a certain amount, or having to up prices due to costs that can accumulate from basically losing the business they would otherwise get if families were forced to buy new ones at a more expensive cost -
and it's a bloody waste in my opinion too, when you can just recycle/handmedown all this clothing.

Based on your own experience though you made a blanket statement for an entire country though - and one as large as Australia, which is it's own continent, too. I was just aiming to correct that and add to it, based on mine as to why I mostly disagreed with your own statement - which is because of how wide an area I've been schooled in, and how many people I've known with the opposite problem. No one cares if your clothes are secondhand these days - the majority of my wardrobe has almost always been from salvos, vinnies and other charity stores as well as handmedowns, and a lot of people do that by choice. People have mostly gotten over the silly way of thinking that just because you didn't rip the tag off it, doesn't mean it's any good(and often at charity stores you'll find clothes with them still on attached to it). More highschoolers go salvos shopping together than ever and it's a common afternoon activity to just have a look around, both girls and guys (you don't even have to be able to buy anything and no one will blink twice if you say you still can't afford it.) I've seen a few cases where friends have then been like "right. I'm gettting you it then. You look fucking amazing in this shirt and it's so good it'd be a crime for someone else to have it." (that's an actual quote btw that happened about three days ago and they bought this shirt instead of anything for themself. No one who isn't stupid wants to pay fifty bucks for a shirt that will lose it's shape and colour in a few weeks when they can get something that wont and suits better for about eight bucks instead. Secondhand might as well be in fashion, for the last couple of decades :) Which is great. Recycling is great and clothes is one really big place it can be done easily :)

However, I do think kids should be allowed to express themselves through what they wear (to a certain degree, of course. There are reasons why schools have dress codes.) No one ever got picked on for what they wore because everyone was wearing the same kinds of clothes, and you didn't have to worry much about picking out an outfit in the morning. Although, when it got into winter, it was kind of a pain wearing a skirt because your legs would freeze. (And long socks didn't help that much)

+I USE ...I wore a uniform for 14 years of my life and this is just my opinion, I don't know why it makes you so annoyed.

Dearbhla Ryan because what I have had to go threw isn't enjoyable at all. It wasn't good, itwasn't helpful. It didn't take stress out of dressing it made it annoying. I couldn't just wear the clothes that actually look good no I had to wear the shitty dress code clothes that make me look even worse than I actually am. That aren't matching, don't have a single design on them, nothing,

Yeah, I had to wear them. I didn't care, as long as it was comfortable... Unfortunately, they don't tend to be... So, yeah, it distracted me.

When I was in a private school, the teachers did make us wear uniforms. It was always a navy blue or white polo and khakis(no skirts or shorts). Tuck in your shirt, always wear a belt, no open toed/ heeled shoes, ect. I didn't really mind them all that much since I had been wearing it for so long. I finally started to hate them at the start of my eighth grade year. Once I had gotten into high school, I had no style of clothes. It stunned me that people could actually wear sweatpants and skirts to school. No uniforms! I was free. But... I had no idea what to wear. It was drilled into my brain that I had to wear exactly what the teachers wanted and they really didn't care. I'm still unsure of what to wear today because I still think that I need to wear a uniform. It has changed my life pretty majorly. For schools thinking about changing to uniforms: don't.

In my school we had uniforms and I personally loved it. No pressure to choose an outfit in the morning plus it was very comfortable. The only thing I'd have a problem with would be if I had to wear skirts, but all students wore shorts and shirts and after a certain grade, pants and shirts. The only difference between boys and girls was the cut of the pants but a girl could wear "boy's pants" if she wanted something more comfortable. It was pretty cool.

+My Name Is Too Long Have you even read what I wrote? o.O please, read again...
Also, you don't have to be rude to prove your point, you just have to actually know what you're talking about.

Rare Pepe I see. Those uniforms sound really awful. That is the problem with uniforms, they should be designed to be comfortable, because it's an everyday clothing. Mine, for example was adequate to the clime in here. Not too hot, not too cold and that kind of stuff. And in here only schools have uniforms, it's good during day trips and all, also. Our universities don't have uniforns.
