About this project: I am writing a weekly sci-fi story to the theme of Isaac Arthur’s SFIA videos. It’s a crazy challenging timeframe to create a good short story in, and to do so publicly is even more daunting. I’m just hoping some good stories come out of this, I have fun writing them, and most importantly, the audience enjoys!

I was walking into the grocery store, looking for something to listen to while I shop and saw this was out. I got super excited. Then an electric company rep wanted to solicit to me on the way in. I said “No thank you, PE Rowe just dropped the newest Misfits and I ain’t pausing.”
His partner did a 180, looked at me and said “HE DID? FINALLY!” And we shared a moment geeking out over you.
Which is funny, ‘cause I did pause to talk with her for a few minutes about our favorite moments in the series.

An excellent tale.. Something I've wondered about nanotech. It couldn't be fast, unless you had some sort of cooling system. Healing, or building large structures would be comparatively slow. You have to get rid of the heat. Small items could be created quickly, even then, they would be hot. How fast something could be created would depend on what it's made of.
Two million years.... everything familiar to you has long since been forgotten about. If you travelled two centuries into the future, nothing would be recognizable...much less a couple million years.
Finding yourself ( or I suppose, a version of yourself) after that length of time would have to be a seious shock.... regardless of who you are.

Heat is a problem as I understand it, especially for the bots themselves, but as you say, two million years is a long time and also a lot of time for a lot of clever minds to tackle such problems! I think it would be wild even getting a glimpse of a future society, much less going there, but as long as there were people still, there'd still be people things to recognize: homes, clothes, food, music, and, best of all, people 😃

@@RoweLit I wrote a Doctor Who story back about 1982 that my roommate at the time, hated because at the end, there was my paradox! Telepathy, time travel and time travel paradoxes are my favorite things!

i was 19 and a sophomore in college. In a history class we were assigned 2 books to read, All Quiet on the Western Front and 1984. 42 years later i still recommend them, especially to young people. They are foundational to my world view. Your work needs to be a clarion call to the younger generations•
