The reality is, it should be a 'No Contest' but I don't wanna see a rematch to figure out how the fight would've played out - we kinda saw how it was going to play out. JJ basically admits as much on Ariel Helwani's MMA Hour a few hours ago and thinks it'll probably be a 'No Contest'. I think JJ should just accept that and move on because I don't wanna see Joe Fournier's old ass in a ring again.
Exactly on the money, we knew JJ was on the brink of the winning but things need to stay fair in terms of the result. Fournier is done and over with after that.

Not really unfortunate for Joe, that was the best possible outcome for him heâs an awful boxer, and was gonna get exposed as a fraud to the very few people who believed the âworld championâ bs still. Now he has the excuse to fall back on. As to the event, it kinda just wrapped up the entire night a pretty disappointing event. Deji looked like heâs still not taking training too seriously at least as far as gas tank, Salt Papi lost and overall just lacked the skills to beat a below average mma fighter, jj with the elbow against a 40 year old phony. The girls werenât too exciting. The boogie fight was over in like a little over a minute. The only real exciting fight of the night was DK and Viruzz

I feel like this has been the story for every single one of KSIâs fights ever since Misfits. He has to step up the level of competition, properly. Tommy Fury will be exactly that for example. That in my opinion will be his very first true test as a pro boxer

Honestly itâs getting harder and harder to root for Misfits. The way they handled that post fight conference, picking on a journalist for asking a valid question. Not showing any replays once they spotted the elbow. Most sports channels would over analyse it for the next few hours! The way they didnât give Swarmz a proper interview after a loss, instead trying to set up a fight. Proper thugs and scum bags, Ksi seems the most professional of the lot. Interested to see how the PBA handle it.
Not optimistic considering the typo in their appeal press release, and the fact they sanction 2 fights 1 night, tag team and 400 pound guys fighting without head guards.

How about them having Chase Demoor there to work in Boogie2988's corner after he bounced dudes head off the canvas and proceeded to celebrate over him the way he did? That didn't sit well with me. They said Chase will face fines and suspension, so why even bother having him be a part of the event, especially working it? That's disrespectful to his opponent and they're just making a mockery of the sport and the sweet science with fools like that. They sure as hell don't care about these fighters who making them millions of dollars and being pennies on the dollar for risking it all in the ring while being mistreated. Their true colors are coming to light and they're shady as hell.
Don't pretend to come from a neutral point of view then call people thugs for not reacting the way you want them to in the heat of the moment.

A fighter can recover, a fighter could land something in the heat of an exchange. Anything can happen in boxing, an illegal blow robs all of us of these questions.

The way misfits and jjs teams handled this was terrible and felt as if it had little to no care or integrity toward the situation and just respect towards this sport
If KSI truly wants to be the "king" of influencer boxing as he claims, he needs to display the sportsmanship to admit and agree to a no contest due to an illegal knockdown. Intentional or not, it was still an illegal move even if he was likely going to win.

KSI's taking easy fights to boost his record and get highlight clips. Realistically it's not preparing him that well. The fights are too easy and too short. Assuming he doesn't get knocked out, Tommy Fury will be his first fight since Logan to go the distance. That's like how many years? He's going to get sparked due to poor preparation. why do people say the KSI was inevitable? winning early grounds guarantees absolutely nothing in boxing. we have no idea how the cardio of either man would have looked later in the fight. all we know is KSI looked good early, but when a young guy is spending energy like that against a guy with more experience, the later rounds tend to favor the veteran. Good start but inconclusive is my take.

this is the best explanation ive seen tbf. however it's worth mentioning joe's response where he said "i felt the elbow/bone" which begs the question why his reaction wasn't strong in the moment and why he wasn't more outraged in the ring. It's sketchy that he was so outraged only after watching the replay whereas if he actually felt the elbow itself in the ring he would've said something instantly. Idk maybe just rambling but i do think this was a topic worth discussing.

KSI *does* indeed hit guys behind the head. Not because he purposely intends too, but because of the wild technique. I don't doubt that it's also why the elbow landed too.
His technique isn't clean and orthodox like other fighters in the scene, but wild, scrappy and all over the place.
We thought initially that it was just his lack of form and it was gonna be fixed after the first Logan fight... and we realized that isn't the case. Not that he hasn't gotten better, just that he doesn't seem to be focusing on "improving" technique in the traditional sense. He's just developing his natural aggression as his unique style.
The only problem is that embracing that creates moments for illegal shots like this. Could be a problem in my opinion.

It's unfortunate man but this shit happens. It's nobody's fault in the end and it happened so fast that I truly believe no one even knew it happened. Not the announcers, not the ref, not JJ, and not even Fournier knew it was an elbow until the replay. Hope this doesn't interfere with JJ vs Tommy.
Yeah of course Joe didnât know until the replay. he got knocked out. Fighters usually donât remember anything that happened after being knocked out. they usually wake up and realize oh they were just in a fight

I agree. Joe was in trouble even before the unintentional elbow. Is a rematch needed? Meh... if anyone does want it, it's likely only going to be Joe and his camp. JJ just needs to tighten up with those wild haymakers and combos. He might walked away the victor(even IF unintentional), but it was clear that JJ needs a lot more work if he is going to continue fighting pros who can pick apart easy to read combos and punch patterns.
From here on out if I'm JJ and his team, I'd be looking into some old Roy Jones Jr tapes... someone whose style I feel JJ can work with given his training regiment. He's got some speed, he just needs to work on connecting more punches, less haymakers thrown, and FFS JJ... defense on your head once a punch is thrown. đ

I believe the fight could've turned out either way if the elbow didn't hit Joe. In a six round match, you never know what can actually happen or not. If Joe wasn't knocked out by that elbow, who knows Joe might've won that match. It could happen if Joe reads Ksi the whole match and starts counterattacking against the moves of Ksi
IMO ksi should just spar joe on camera so we see how the fight would play out

WADE was right all along with everything he said about Joe Fournier. Dude was absolutely terrible. It is just insane to me that Misfits could perpetuate the narrative that this fraud was in any way better than Tyron Woodley or so. Matter of fact, it turns out he is almost as bad as Ben Askren. Slow, low volume, non-existing reflexes and subpar form.

@@ggiome yes ksi used his left arm to keep joe in place, slightly moving him to the right then he elbows him. thats not allowed even if it was a target hook. it happens a lot and it gets ignored bcoz its so common but it does show that joe was not coming forward, it was ksi moving joe with left arm first.

Misfits have been so damn shady about this situation. They didn't replay the knockout in his post-fight interview (like they literally always do), tried to hush away from Fournier as a topic overall and moved on to Tommy, Kalle questioning that reporters credibility when asked about it. It's just so shady, and it sucks because JJ almost definitely had nothing to do with any of that - but he's the topic of the entire thing, so it all ultimately blows back on him :/

KSI didnt land and elbow, it was the blunt side of his forearm. Elbows are sharp, and they usually slice skin. Joe should have had a cut under his eye, at the very least a nasty bruise. Post fight interviews Joe doesnt even look like he was in a fight, and theres not even a mark from the hit.
However regardless...Again, no contest.
