Reading everyone's support and praise for this album makes me proud to be part of the fan base for Protest The Hero. This album was ultimately created by the fans, for the fans. Protest The Hero showed how much they care about us by giving us the absolute best that they can produce as musicians with the money they have received from us. Thank you to everyone who contributed and thank you Protest The Hero for producing the best music I've ever listened to.
Ethan Glaudemans It's that soaring guitar that does it for me, just crazy energy which complements the vocal trade-off so well! Luke has a way of writing astoundingly beautiful riffs
Exactly what I was thinking, soaring was the word of used. I love how he hits the high notes and then Jada picks up from there, with the riffs and whatnot going on
Now that I have officially heard the entire album, I gotta say that this album blew me away so mcuh more than all of their other albums. An Embossed Life, Mist (with it's final section), Without Prejudice, Plato's Tripartite, I was blown away hard by how intense these songs are. It's, without a doubt, the best album of 2013 for me
Lyrics (from Google): From the unrelenting beat of a pounding drum, come alive. From the ceasing breast of a wicked beast, we survive. In the hallowed marriage of sound and revolt, come anew. To the hollowed, disparaged - shed and molt, overdue. Splintering fingers, gore strewn across each hand (Sink deep, stone, sink deep, stone) Splintering fingers, gore strewn across each hand (Sink deep, stone, sink deep, stone) Pray for a way out of here. Pray for a way. No animal in all the kingdom Shall ever strike me down. A coward in his finest moment. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. Be swift and painless, not a glancing blow To the back of the head, to the back of the head Be swift and painless, not a glancing blow (Sink deep, stone, sink deep, stone) Pray for a way out of here. Pray for a way. A long, slow pull on the briar. Ready, aim... When the fire burns, Callusing, topping off the urns, a sound remains. (Solo) Look to the actor in the heavy armor, his mettle shakes. Listen well to the deafening clamor whimpering makes. Look now to the unassuming, unwavering Standing before the heavens screaming, "Bring on the storm. Bring on the storm. Bring on the rain. Bring on the jesters, and bring on the pain. Bring on the storm. Bring on the rain. Bring on the jesters, and bring on the pain." The seed is planted. Let the roots reach far and wide. Let it grow tall. Let the rings remain intact on the inside. And though the autumn brings a fall of leaves (let it grow tall), We come anew. We come anew. We come anew. The seed is planted. 3:20 "The seed is planted, let the roots reach far and wide, let it grow tall / let the rings remain intact on the inside / and though the autumn brings a fall of leaves (let it grow tall) / we come anew" - damn if that isn't some of the prettiest writing PtH had ever done.
wow wow just wow. the recording quality is outstanding. the whole thing...It sounds so wet. anyone else feel this way? So crisp it just cuts at my eardrum.. i guess it beats it like a snare. its rare to hear something so vibrant.
Not a huge PTH fan, heard some of their older stuff with a few highlights but nothing as intriguing as quite a few tracks from volition. Instrumentally these guys obviously know what they're doing so i'll say no more about that. As for the people hating on the vocals, "emo" vocals isn't even a thing (I think you mean HIGH/TENOR vocals). Rody's vocals have been hit and miss in the past but this is a top notch vocal performance combined with good production and a slight bruce dickinson edge to the cleans (which works well). Also the lack of vocal covers for PTH on youtube is proof that this guy has a totally unique vocal talent. Very diverse vocals on this album from Rody and the guest vocals add to it excellently.
The guitar riffs seem like they have been fashioned from such resounding happiness that somehow chaotic beauty is created; performed with an overwhelming passion and a feeling that results in the listener's extraordinary joy
I like underbite it took me a few listens to get into well that and animal bones but the whole album is pretty great but yes this is definitely one of if not the highlight of the album
protest just keeps getting better and better. i've screamed kezia walking around as a teenager. now i'm driving around screaming this as a man. loving it.
I got hooked on Protest ever since I heard the vocals on Bloodmeat while playing guitar hero many years ago now, and I can say this band has single-handedly inspired me to learn piano, drums and guitar by their passion for making music and having fun as a band they have inspired me so much. This band is very special to me, thanks guys!
+ricktor002 They are good, one of my favorites. So far, they lack longevity and live performance improvement, which, in my opinion, could do so much better. Then again, this genre of music is hard to play and sound correctly at a live environment.
+Fernando Trujillo If you've seen them in smaller, intimate settings you'd realize just how wrong that statement is. Their club shows are some of the best metal shows I've ever been to, they have a knack for making shitty venues sound like gold.
+Chemical Valley Mutant Not for the sake of arguing, but you've said it: smaller, intimate settings. Pretty much back to studio. Not saying the sound bad live. They're awesome. Greatest metal band of all time? Certainly not yet. Cheers.
I haven't listened to another band seriously since January. Volition will be the conglomeration of pure passion and heat seeking righteousness. Long Live the Protest.
October 29th, I shall arrive at the hospital. Upon my arrival, they shall say "JESUS GOD, WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?!?!" Then I shall explain that Protest The Hero's new CD LITERALLY melted my face right off. I'm sure they will understand.

CAN NOT WAIT for new Corelia! Their EP is not getting old yet and i watch the studio session vids every day. Such beautiful music and talented musicians.
Well hello from 10 years in the future lol. Corelia never officially released their debut album, due to some interesting things happening there that you can look into on your own, but you can find the album on CZcams. Its called New Wilderness. For it being unmastered and all, its pretty good. Sad that they came to the end that they did.

BUT as always, what makes Protest the Hero songs epic after their usual chaos is their soothing bridges and outros. Something about the simplicity of their bridges and outros in contrast to the rest of the song always make them a rollercoaster of tension and calm.
I think that one of Protest's best musical traits is this progression of maturity that blends into their sound with every album. No other band really does that, and it makes PTH one of the most unique bands I've ever heard. Bless this band.
Still waiting to upgrade from Drumhead Trial to Drumhead Full Version
I wish I could double like this
you deserve a thousand likes
Just call Christ Adler
Heh
Love me some shareware
Damn, these dudes practice.
Volition is just a great album...
i completely agree. they're one of my favorite bands :)
I just bought the CD three days ago . This is a masterpiece .
Actually I don't think I can count on 1 hand , the songs I dislike from PTH ..
Palimpsest is even better 💙
@@TheGuitarifier I highly disagree but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I personally thought that album was garbage
3:45 of this song never fails to bring a tear to my fucking eyes.

We just got home from the Detroit concert for Volition's 10th anniversary! Such an incredible show.
Her voice at the end........ God damn it. I love her.
Almost two years after I heard this song for the first time, and I still love it.
heard it since it release, just too much coolness in one song
And now?
@@Xx_ToterTigerLP_Rockt_LoLxD_xX

If you don't get shivers from the part after 3:45 then you probably aren't playing this loud enough
This was the first section in a song I've ever heard in any music ever that actually gave me an eargasm, truly
Sodgez123 God for real though it's probably my favorite part in all of their songs and I love all of them
You can never play PTH loud enough. Your ears have to bleed with infatuation and joy.

Duelling guitar solo sorts me out. Jarzombek is one of my favourite guitarists
My brother actually gets guitar lessons from Ron. It's cool to hear him shred with Protest!

this whole album was just phenomenal
after about 300 listens, this is still my favorite song by PtH. it's so good!
Kayla's voice is absolutely amazing! She gives a very raw, complimented appeal that I feel Jadea Kelly has brought to the band with their albums.
This song makes me wanna be canadian
Best of PTH
;)
This is definitely one of their top 3 songs.
I'm from colombia and i'm the proud owner of an original copy of volition... My first purchase ever...
Honestly this song is a metal masterpiece, hasn't failed to play in my head daily or hourly since it came out. Completely in love from day 1.
Amazing voice, amazing band, amazing songs, just amazing
This is easily the most underrated song
On the list of greatest songs they've ever composed. Right up there next to all the time tested classics.
I love how Arif's bass is mixed louder than previous albums. He rips non stop the entire song.
Protest rules! Can't stop listening to this album.
Ron Jarzombek is a Prog hero. Props to PTH for getting him on their record. Great record, might I add. :P
The Solo is a masterpiece
Every PTH solo is a masterpiece
Ron Jarzombek did it. Look up Blotted Science.
@@kylethestyle i've never heard Ron playing something so melodic
My favourite song on the album so far. Love the part "bring on the storm, bring on the rain, bring on the jesters and bring on the pain".
The only band that can make me cry with their music, I religiously respect these guys
Standing before the heavens screaming BRING ON THE STORM. BRING ON THE STORM!!!

Every time I listen to this song, the chick's voice gives me chills. Damn, I love her voice!
This is arguably the best song they have ever written. So amazing.
Cheyne Riggs I agree, it's one of the most beautiful and well written metal songs I've ever heard
how have I not even bothered to check this band out until now? This song is amazing.

***** He sounds like Bruce in parts, for real.
***** Why? I would dare compare this band to iron maiden because it so good,
their old albums are what keeps my blood flowing. best music i have ever heard
this band was sent from the gods
Dunno, I agree, but their first two albums are amongst the best metalcore albums ever
Any album with todd the rod from propagandhi as a guest and chris Adler from lamb of god is alright with me.
God I loved this whole album so much when it came out and coming back it’s still so damn perfect. This song is incredible man
Some of it sounds like intense Sega music.
So glad i discovered this band. Just WOW
This song is fucking incredible. I was absolutely blown away at 3:20 and on though. Good god i love this album.
CAN'T. STOP. LISTENING.
This band has true power of progressive metal
but all of that passion! that's what got me with kezia... it's the most emotionally charged music I think I've ever heard.
